Since this game went free to play. I need to know if we as silver players will ever get any new content for free? Outside of maybe a few new missions that are not part of an adventure pack.
Will we ever get new costume pieces? Will we ever get a new archetype? I do not mind paying for them. But at least you can throw a few our way. Let's say in three years they add a grand total of 40 archetypes. Maybe they can give us four of them for free.
If the Dev's do give us silver players things that are for free then some of us might become gold members. The Dev's must treat us as potential gold members. If not some of us might just play for a while then leave for good.

Well, in my case, there is a simple reason why I don't want to pay for gold membership. "The Glacier" archetype is pretty much what I would made myself, if I made a freeform character. With maybe some minor differences.
Different Super Stats and "Ice Form" instead of "Invulnerability".
That's why I'm curious about this too, actually, I'm curious about a bit different thing, than you.
Since only if going gold member, you will be able to change some powers, and if you change back to silver, they totally remove all of your powers, which is an obvious rip off. You pay for some stuff, then your subscription runs out, and you lose all the stuff that you payed for. Screw that, I will never pay for that crap.
So, here comes my question: Will we be able to, as silver members, to pay with atari coins for minor changes, such as the one I mentioned I would do, and keep them permanently?
Because I will never pay money every month, or give 400 dollars for a lifetime gold account, just to have some minor changes, as ones that I wish for.

The Dev's must treat us as potential gold members. If not some of us might just play for a while then leave for good. Not to be cynical but don't adopt that sort of mindset when dealing with Cryptic. The entire point of Silver membership is to entice players to buy a subscription. Silver = unlimited free trial. So sayeth the Champions Online Executive Producer. source: www.zam.com/story.html?story=24187While they might make a few more things available to Silver members in the future keep in mind that the end goal for the company is to make more money. Cryptic adopted the F2P model because it's proven to be successful if executed correctly. Turbine has been making a killing on DDO and LOTRO since those titles went free.

I am hoping that they do make some things available to us silver members. What I am saying is that you want to treat your silver members as potential gold members. You do that by giving them some things that they do not have to buy from the C store. Like if they make alot of new costume pieces for the gold members. Then they could take some of the pieces that gold members have today and give them to us. My whole point is that if in 5 years (if F2P is successful) that the game then is what it is now. Then there might be trouble on the horizon. I have played another game that had both a F2P and a sub. Called "Hellgate London", or as some called it "Failgate London". I do not want a repeat of what happened to that game to happen to this one.

I dont think it makes a difference whether a person is silver or gold to Cryptic as long as they are spending money. I think the main form of new content moving forward will be adventure packs, which silver members will be able to purchase individually from the store if they want. I think the same will be true of new costumes and such.

As silvers purchase ATs, bag slots, character slots and other perks for the life of this game, they become less inclined to subscribe as they will be effectively paying to rent what they already bought outright. They should be focusing on getting silvers to pay more through microtransactions, not trying to convince the targeted audience of people who dislike paying for subscriptions to do so anyways.

While I see your point, its very possible that many of these people who are now trying out the game never would have done so if it had not gone F2P. So even if they only spend a limited amount of money and then eventually stop, thats still more money than Cryptic would have gotten from those people otherwise. So in that sense, their F2P model did exactly what they wanted it to: drew a new person to the game, and got some of their money.

But Cryptic does not want a little bit of their money, they want them to provide a recurring revenue. That is why they are trying to get them to subscribe. If they cannot get that out of them by convincing them to subscribe, they they should do so by offering items they will want to regularly purchase while they play as silvers. As it stands now they are discouraging them from subscribing with many of the aforementioned purchases, and even from making small purchases because of the obvious intent to try to get them to subscribe.

The devs have said that they intend to release new AT's. There was a comment that indicated that some of them would be added to the free list, but I doubt that anything is completely decided as of yet. This is all new to them so I expect that they will be watching things closely to see how they develop.
I highly suggest continuing to post your suggestions for what you would be willing to pay for, and what Cryptic would need to do encourage this, here and on major gaming site forums. Encourage your friends to do so as well.
Try to be constructive please.
Cryptic will be watching those sites, and hopefully here since theyve stickied the link here, carefully. They want to make money here and decided that this approach might work. Your input could very well shape the evolution of CO's FtP future.

If Cryptic cared at all about a Silver's suggestions then they would give us the ability to post them in their forums. That one forum moderator there stickied a link to here in a forum most silvers won't read does not indicate to me that the actualdevs that decide what changes should be made to the game will ever hear of these forums. much less read every thread here for the odd suggestion. They probably don't look outside their own suggestion forum for player ideas.

from what I've seen you get a lot of customizing stuff from doing pvp.

The Devs have also said that they hope to do a new zone (soon(tm)) and that they will not charge silver players access to complete zones ever. So if F2P goes well enough then Silvers too should see this new content sooner rather than later. If the buisness model does not so well, then we will see that content later. If the game fails completly... well... you can work that out

If the game fails, the game might be sold to other company, who will host it. Hopefully, a REAL f2p version (giving EVERYONE full gameplay experience, meaning, anyone can make free-form character), and only sell stuff like fashion items, experience charms and other boosters, that you can play without, but still, they're nice to have. That's the f2p model I prefer, where I can choose what to buy, and not be FORCED to pay, in order to experience the game to the fullest.

I never understood the F2P mentality. To me, without wanting to offend anyone) it seems to be the same as walking into a restaurant and expecting the food and drinks to be for free and only having to pay for extra-seasoning and the way the food is arranged on the plate.
