Since there was no thread on this most loveliest of subjects. July 4th being its release date in Japan. (Sorry US... Your holiday just got bumped down a notch ) And a character creator that rivals that of COs. Which by the way even got a demo. Some minimal memorizing is needed unless you speak japanese. I'm so very riled up right now. Kinda contemplating not playing it until it gets localized. Unless I decide to go with the general fear of it not getting localized... But then I'll most likely hurt someone.

I think you might be exaggerating on the "Character Customization that Rivals CO," part.
It looks very standard MMO custmization.
Though if the ever make a Shining Force Online game...

I'm reserving judgement on the character customization. I'd have to actually mess around with it first before saying anything.

OMG, they even have a vid there in the recommended ones at the end that shows you can even change, not only the size of your character's boobs, but their shape as well. You can have fat characters, voluptuous characters, skinny anorexic characters that actually look anorexic. Body customizaton at least looks more advanced than CO. Unfortunately the game reminds me too much of old console RPGs, which I'm trying forget, and I haven't clicked with the old FF/PS feel in a looooong time.

I'd have to wait for it to be localized. If I'm being crushed in a cavalcade of kanji, I'm going to feel alienated and utterly lost. Also, I've been made aware of a certain... "bug" in character creation.

Not really. The character creator even got the added feature of letting you customize your clothing directly from the start. With additional outfits to be purchased later. I'd have to wait for it to be localized. If I'm being crushed in a cavalcade of kanji, I'm going to feel alienated and utterly lost. Also, I've been made aware of a certain... "bug" in character creation. They made an entire trailer about that. With a female spectator "ooh" and "aah" every time they bounced. So a lot. So much like Dead Or Alive... Bouncy!

I've been playing this for a while between Closed Beta and Open Beta. Anyone interested, think of it like this:
If you've played the previous action-RPG ones, it's like a fusion of PSO and PSU. Three races - Human, Neuman (genetically engineered people - think of them like "space elves,") and Cast (robots.) Three classes - Hunter (melee weapons,) Ranger (guns,) and Forces (magic, called Techs in this.) You have skills for melee and ranged weapons, you have Techs you can learn as a Force. You can use a third-person aiming scheme for guns, techs, and melee (if you really want to.) You can play it as a basic action game without a TPS camera.
Skills for melee weapons are things like swiping an enemy up with a sword before shooting him with the sword (the weapon itself is like a Gunblade from FF8, but with more "gun" to it.) Guns have things like a bazooka shell that explodes several times in the same spot, or an assault rifle's penetrating round or grenade round. You level up your skills and techs by finding higher-level discs like in PSO. If you DO end up playing, I know of two big English-speaking hotspots - Ship 2, blocks 20-23 or so, and Ship 10 (not sure what blocks there.)
Characters are SHIP-BOUND - no swapping ships whenever. You also only get one slot off the bat, for the whole game, and have to buy more with their currency, Arks Cash. They're going to have a monthly "premium package" that gives you all the basic services rolled into one - a room you can decorate, the ability to trade with other people, and... something else, but I'm drawing a blank on it. I think the ability to have your own shop. Anyway, without those services, you're limited to basically what you find or can buy from other players - you can't even take an item in trade from someone, or drop something for them to pick up beyond maybe some healing items.
I'm going to play it off and on between my bouts of FF14, but I might have to make a new account if they make an English version. As it is, feel free to look for me on Ship 2 as Nuku Nuku, Cast Ranger with red hair and blue armor.

Meh, it's not Asian enough to successfully capture a sizable western audience. We all know western MMO players look with a disdain that borders on racism any game without enough of an Asian feel.
Well see if they asiatify it enough to compete with Blade & Soul and ArcheAge before it releases.

Honestly, I've always liked Phantasy Star games a lot, because it's like Star Wars-style fantasy-meets-sci-fi but with more of a fantasy blend mixed in. You have robots, and guns, and laser swords (well, "laser swords" being big since PSO and onwards, but swords and traditional "get in your face" weapons before that,) mixed with demons and genetically engineered monsters and magic and destiny and fate.
It's like if Jedis were actual Space Wizards throwing fireballs and stuff.

I quite literally know nearly nothing about the game. But if it's got advanced breast physics it's OK in my book. Though that bug gave them an appearance of metal springs. They don't have that soft undulating inner jello-like consistency of true advanced breast physics. We shall see.....

Seriously, between the advanced breast customization and physics, and the game being F2P, I'm probably going to end up trying out this game at some point. I'm just holding out for the english version, since I don't expect to learn japanese any time soon.

It got hair physics as well... And hair that reaches your hips... *wink wink*
Even allows you to wear 3 different hats on the same head.
