2) With Ego Storm working the way it is (and you're packing Ego Hold as well) you won't need Ego Sleep as a hold or as an energy builder with your telepathic reverberation. You can ditch Ego Sleep and ditch Rude Awakening on Ego Blast. Also in teams you won't get to put anything to sleep for more than half a second before someone wakes them up....and you won't get much energy because they'll kill them too fast. Ego Sleep is necessary to complete some missions. In particular, the UNITY mission with the elder worms in the museum where you need to destroy the spheres without killing the new initiates is virtually impossible without sleep, because they will heal the sphere. (And ego storm has the negative consequence of killing them, when you're trying to save them). I certainly use it a lot less after having gotten Ego Storm, but i still use it. Ego Hold i find pretty useless. Anything I would use it on it doesn't work against. Supervillains and above are basically immune, anything below that doesn't need it. And since its only single-target its no good against mobs anyway. Even against targets it does work on, tapping ego sleep accomplishes the same thing and doesn't require charging - and seems to last *longer*. (Ego Hold doesn't seem to last anywhere near the stated duration). I'm running a bunch of +hold items, so that's certainly not the problem. Ego Hold just seems subpar for any use. If it worked on supervillains, i might actually use it. It moved to my top row as soon as I needed the room, and it hasn't been used since (not that it really got used before). (While I'm on keymapping, I'm annoyed you can only put an energy builder in the '1' slot. I ended up remapping '1' to ego storm so it was easier to reach and i stopped hitting it when flailing for the shield. Its not like you ever need to use the energy builder as a Mind...) If I were building a gold mind-like freeform character, the first thing i'd do is change superstats. Endurance seems like a waste, I'd much rather have constitution for the survivability. Healing seems to draw Aggro like nothing else, even with Sentinel and 300 presence. I'm tired of all the enemies instantly refocusing on me the moment i start healing someone on my team. There's something seriously wrong with how presence and sentinel are working, or with how healing generates aggro. The second thing i'd do is drop ego hold. Then i'd probably look for some way to pick up some more damage so i could solo enemies who heal. It was really depressing to solo undead Johnny Hercules and most of his crypt only to realize that the last guy in the crypt and I outhealed everything teh other could do. I might also look for more DoT i could layer since most of my solo play against bosses involves DoT-block-heal routines. (I have soloed Kigatilik. It took a long time. I've also soloed Demonflame on elite, which wasn't really all that hard. You just have to be careful to block all Jack Fool's charge attacks, and figure out the trick to avoiding the hold at the end of the Left Hand's beam. Oh, and just accept you're going to die a lot during the 'defend for 5min while they set up the portal' portion, since there's nothing you can do about the big supervillain monster with all the other horrors there to focus you - easily the 'hardest' part of that AP by yourself, well, or would be if dying had any negative consequence whatsoever outside of star loss.)

Actually
1. Ego hold is invaluable in real pvp, pve, not so much. Still, if you didn't cc a brickbuster or w/e, what were you doing, dotting?
2. +hold items are nearly useless
3. End is crap, but, con is a waste except kb spam, with aorp+bub, your def rocks. Dex is by far better (my ff mind reaches 2200 empathic crit ticks)
4. Energy builder can be usefull actually, for getting burst of during ego storm. But y, overal its not that usefull

Ego Storm re-holds reasonably well so i just blast them down (with '2', whatever its called) while ego sprites does its work. 2. I've noticed significant improvements in ego storm hold times and reholding. In particular, in mobs with more than one villain or more than 5 total targets (max sprites), enemies i don't attack remain held almost until i can drop ego storm again. 3. There are fights where an extra 1k hp really helps out. I'm running constitution as my '3rd' stat, and some bosses would not be soloable without it just because they can burst spike over 4k. 4. Ego sprites + telepathic reverberation keeps me in energy so i can blast through ego storm no problems - using energy builder would decrease my damage output.

SOlo pve 2. solo pve (errr, ego storms hold is basicly as long as the cd, maybe 1 cd dif if you run some int..) 3. Solo pve 4. Solo pve (what part of ego sprites gives energy?) Its ego sleep/ego blast disorient that do on hold immune bosses. Why use a pvp optimized/team optimized char for solo pve only, idd.

I've teamed with people before, still haven't seen a reason to use ego hold. It seems even less relevant then when it targets only one enemy, and there are piles of enemies. The ego sprites effect triggers telepathic reverberations, ie, provides energy. Test it, it works.

So its a 1->2->(passive 3) kinda deal. On to my question. Has anyone tried a power replace item on a mind? i know its easy to grab a + offense item because of the open Primary Offense slot but at a lower lvls wouldn't a nice spike work well too? Here is my Fuzzy math: 6.5% chance to trigger x dmg on telepathy hit, Ego SpritesX2 on 5 targets is 100 hits in 10 seconds that's 6.5 triggers in one round of Ego Sprites, add in Ego Blast taps for good measure and you get some decent dmg, i think.

Ego sprites, by itself, provides return energy. The moment i throw one the telepathic reverberations start. Hard to find a power replace item that actually works for a Mind. There's exactly one you can craft (with Mysticism at least), and its not available until somewhere >300, and provides stats you don't really care about (int/ego). But I've been using the Hotsleep Gauntlets ever since i found them in Stronghold and haven't found a reason to switch them out. Coruscating Might is nice, and it has 3 other powers beyond that.

@korbas, (my ingame chat is broken), i have, yes, but pure offense gear or health on kill, was just better Imo:)
Lots of people ask me why I use a 20 pre/60 offense over a high pre item. Simply cause i see no reason to get even more pre than i have (370 atm)
Edit: 3 edits for 1 typo, yeah!

LOL, thanks for the quick response. i was thinking of testing it on my lvl 17 mind, but just finding a telepathy power replace is a pain.
Edit: Finally got my hands on a telepathy power replace, and it doesn't effect ego sprite, so ya that kills it. maybe at a higher lvl i'll try out the 5% chance on everything replacers but right now its not worth it.

First of all, thanks everyone for this guide and topic. I see Cradock suggests to go for Empathic healing; however I have spent some time trying out the healing powers at the powerhouse and I like Psionic healing a lot. The main advantage of EH is that it heals straight away with no charge time; however the first ticks only provide little healing which may not be enough to save the target during a serious damage barrage. PH's 3 seconds charge versus 5 (I think) seconds mantained means it will be much easier to pull it off at its full power. I also feel a dedicated healer could benefit from a charged power as it will only draw threat after the target is healed, which should make it even easier to fully charge it. Plus, PH's animation is a lot cooler ;D- it looks less like a body builder dying in supernatural fire and more like psychic stuff. Despite all of the above I still haven't left the powerhouse- I like this toon and I'm afraid to gimp it- I can get realt paranoid about this ;D. I would really appreciate some more imput on this matter P.S. I don't like resurrecting long gone threads, but didn't want to open a new thread for every AT I try out

Will ego sprites become obsolete with ego storm, and does it break ego storm-hold?
