"Fully voice acted... By about 3 people." They should totally have that as their tagline.

"Fully voice acted... By about 3 people." They should totally have that as their tagline. That was definitely an issue in Oblivion. Skyrim was more varied with its voice talent, so hopefully TESOnline continues or improves upon that trend... since it's online, they may not bother giving the random npc's (m)any lines, but just kinda have ambient flavor dialogue in hubs and whatnot.

This one doesn't look good to me. I like the Elder Scrolls games, but like others said, being showhorned into a specific class is totally against the grain for Elder Scrolls. I'm also going to guess that they'll have class weapon requirements, roles, and skill improvements tied to level only, not by use. Personally, if I were making an Elder Scrolls game.... - Level would not mean much, beyond how much XP until you get your next level and "points increase"
- You'd be allowed so many "proficiency points" per level
- No restrictions on armor and such beyond maybe having so much of a certain skill's proficiency
- Same thing with spells - only thing that determines if you can do it or not is your proficiency with the school
- Health / Stamina / Mana would increase somehow, but probably not tied to level - maybe a "more you use it, the bigger it gets" thing?
I just think that would feel more like an Elder Scrolls game, personally. Yeah, someone coudl eventually be "super-holy-crap-maxed" man, but he'd need a metric button of XP to do it and a whole lot of time poured into using those skills to raise their proficiencies. It'd be somewhat hellish to balance, though - need to find a way to make sure someone doesn't just walk out there and max out Heavy Armor and then get walked through high-level areas for other people to farm XP for them or something.

Meh. I found it interesting to read that it has to appeal to standard MMO players and Skyrim/Elder Scrolls fans but many of the aspects that make TES games what they are, are listed as "not included".
What?
I'll probably still be too busy playing CO (if it survives that long) and GW2 to care given what I just read.

Yeah that's so true, I'm a TES gamer, I started with the series with Morrowind and have being following ever since and honestly I just don't know how could they possibly appeal to me by keeping the stuff that define TES away from the game. And I also wonder how could they appeal to the average MMO crowd by coming up with a game that looks like the generation of MMO that’s being replaced by the new era titles? I think this game might be doomed before it’s even launched.

I get the impression that this isn't going to be a game where the world is radically changed by PvP events.

This will fail. It won't appeal to the die hard Bethesda fans, and without this audience this will be only another generic mmo. Heck, even the NWN 3 has greater chance for success Don't swear it! Nothing is more annoying than being wrong about something you stated so pasionately, believe me I know, we don't know the future. However based on the information available as for right now, I have to say I'm right with you on that opinion, but there is still plenty of time for them correct things, also we are asuming that all the good stuff is out and that no new good things are going to be present, this I find unlikely, yet like I said I'm not impressed with what they have said so far, but I can tell you that I'll probably give this game a try, hell, a TES MMO, that's something I got to check out, if they manage to keep me as a gamer however, well, that's another matter, haha!

Nope, I'm pretty sure of that game failure.
Either they will go F2P or they will vanish and both of these scenarios are a sign of failure if you are starting with a P2P game.
They still have time to fix everything and make this a real TES game, especially now when they can see less than enthusiastic reception - the game is literally scoffed across the web. But it's highly unlikely and for a first time I saw a game which has even lesser chance of success than Cryptic's take on NWN franchise.
To what audience it's trying to appeal, if not for the TES fans? No one else cares about the TES lore or franchise and Bethesda fans in majority are repelled by this news. You won't even be able to play as an Imperial - so much about canon.
So this will be fairly generic mmo with fairly generic graphics, except without quest hubs. And P2P. Well, WoW is still here. Though it has quest hubs. Or if you are willing to play a little more innovative P2P title, you may as well try TERA.
I really can't see how TES online is supposed to succeed.

Game Informer has a big article on the game. I read the whole thing. I still stand by my original statement that it's not going to do well. It has some interesting stuff that you can supposedly do, but they're going the "we don't want a holy trinity setup" route and giving everyone some sort of healing / melee / ranged stuff. They're touting that every encounter with NPCs will be like "fighting actual living opponents who work together!" but I don't see that happening well, either. Hell, even in Skyrim, the enemy AI was "I want to kill you, so let me attack you with everything I have, hitting my own guys in the process."
Sorry if I sound kinda jaded, but the article made it seem like the game's going to do everything and anything, including cure cancer by basking in its glow on your monitor. I just don't see it happening with an MMO.

The part about the main story being single player was rather amusing. In a pitiful "they wanted some kind of reaction" sense.

Sorry for the necro. New update on the game.
Still not sure if I'm looking forward to it or dreading it.

Ok, I take back anything negative I may have said about this game being WoW-sified before. That thing looks freaking awesome. I'd get that just to explore that world, even if the class system sucks. But from what the guy said it sounds like we're gonna have a lot of (ability) customization in this game. So I'm willing to give it a shoot.
In terms of visual customization... heavy armors and robes are really not my thing. And I saw a LOT of heavy armors and robes. I'm just that hoping we get some facial sliders at least.

Since the graphics engine is going to be derived from Skyrim, hopefully there should be enough facial sliders to keep you occupied. And the class system sounded a lot like Skyrim's current skill progression system through skill perks. And the massive faction vs faction looked incredible.
But I still have my doubts about the combat system....they managed to talk about the combat system while sneaking past the ~actual~ in game combat footage....
