Hello again, I made another impulse toon, this time using PFF with containment field, and I was wondering about the gear I should use, Should I boost my SS or equip of bit of ego in gear? As I said earlier, I like the idea of send things flying so at level 32 force detonation with force espate will come to the mix. Another thing interesting is that at level 40 the total of the shields strength is 9k more or less and 10K with protection field when stacked onto the PFF. I definitely think you should have a good balance between your SuperStats, Ego and Rec (Pre isn't as useful if you're choosing Containment Field.) Of those three, Rec should be the least focused on, and you should try to get your Superstats up primarily. It may be hard to get END, INT AND EGO to high levels (Due to them sharing primary slot), but you should definitely be able to get good End and Int stats and still get Ego to a respectable level.

Now that The Impulse has been around for 6 months, I am curious how much love this Arch has gotten. I still remember trying to build A Force Hero before the do-over.
Is it tough enough for folks who mostly solo PVE?

Force has barely gotten any love at all. Allthough, most of the set is fine, it's mainly PFF that's an issue, and the devs said they would get to fixing that in the future.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I wish The Impulse had been part of the recent Archetype Rotation so I could have check it out myself. Well, maybe the next AR. There will be other, right?

Seems it was a big hit, so there's a big chance it'll come back. From the latest Ask Cryptic: Great! It only needs to show up about once a year or any time CO has 5 or so new Archs to show case. Next time, for example, CO could show off The Disciple, The Impulse, The Specialist, The Squall, and either The Scourge or The Void. I'm not at all into the whole undead/demonic hero-types, but Pestilence is really powerful as a Blocking power. I used many of the Become Mummy items from Halloween to level a new hero quickly and easily doing nothing more that Blocking his way through simple missions. About as easy as a Glacier with Snow Storm and Eye of the Storm added. With enough Con, and Pestilence, a hero almost never falls to even good sized mobs via blocking. Not that simple with the bigger bosses, but you can't have everything. Anyway, thanks for that info.

So what about the specialization trees? There's soo many combos u can do... It's up to your playstyle. The descriptions are clear enough imo. I do suggest getting avoidance gear with dodge mods

I'm glad they finally got Ego as their second stat, it really helps with the damage the Impulse can inflict.
I'm still grinding my new Impulse(Along side my Radiant), and it's not taking as long as before.

the thing that kills the impulse is all the charges on the powers...... especially with everyone and their mom on dodge....

the thing that kills the impulse is all the charges on the powers...... especially with everyone and their mom on dodge.... The undocumented change to make dodge independant of charge times fixes that right up.
