What is it and how can I activate it? Sometimes I notice it is active under my portrait, between my slotted power and my travel power icons. I am a lvl 16 Glacier with the science/mutation path of research. It's great the it show up, but if I could activate it...even better. Thanks

You activate it by harvesting the science crafting nodes.

ok, thanks. It does seem to happen when I investigate a "survival pack" etc..... BTW, I was exploring underwater near the docks on westside and found about 10 of those kits on the bottom of the river! I found that funny.

Also, each type of node gives you a different temporary buff. (Altho you can only access one type with any given character) Arms will give you a temporary damage boost, and Mysticism will give you a temporary energy buff, much like the healing one for Sci.

Ok, that makes sense too. I am finding it fun to seek out those nodes just to see what I can find and how many. It kind of makes me slow down and pay attention to the environment instead of leaping over everything. I also found some nodes I can't investigate until I get my skill up. Sometimes I enjoy the break from combat. I have the goal of 100 percent exploration of at least the outdoor area of Millennium City, but there are areas that my level 16 shouldn't wander alone I learned.

At 16th lvl you can explore Mil city... www.champions-online-wiki.com/wiki/Exploration_Perks...and get most of the Exploration perks as long as you have flight. Just keep your finger on the {Shift} key in case some over-leveled bad guys target you and fly for your life - UP! I usually, fly high above the target, use my mouse to turn the camera down then use the up down arrows to get my hero in an out of a danger ASAP. Pretty much any Ex Perk in Mill City that you can land on is safe and the things you need to swoop in and out off are easy-pezy if you hold down that {Shift} key. How is your health? If your hero has more that 2000 HP you should be safe if you retreat while shifting. For some of the the Collection Perks you have to treat them like you treat Crafting nodes. Which means getting close enough to click a button, then wait for the message or sound that tells you that you have collected it. That means if there is a group of baddies near by, you will want to be tough enough to clear them before you try to collect the item. If it's one guy - well, seriously - test your heroes metal against him. A healthy 16th lvl Glacier should be able to take on a single thug (17th or 18th lvls) using only Ice Blast and the {Shift Key} energy build up from an attackers ranged attacks. If you fall below half health start backing off until he can no longer get you, wait for your health to return, then move back down into attack range and remove as much health as possible then pull back again if you must and repeat until he falls. It's not as much fun as a "Two-Fisted" Adventuring, but over matched battles are usually won with brains as well a brawn, or in your hero's case, cold blast. www.champions-online-wiki.com/wiki/Collection_PerksAs always: Experiment. And try not to be afraid of seeing the the blue light of those recovery tubes. To quote Confucius: "The greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." If Confucius had had comic books in his day, he might have said, "The greatest super power is not in never falling, but in a hero's rising every time he falls." Good luck! Have Fun!

I love using Ice blast and blocking with the Ice shield, and I do go up against 1 or 2 higher ups, but a crowd of destrids still scares me! I am a superleaper so at times it's hard to bail out if there are too many baddies. I used to worry so much about my hero stars, but now it seems I regen them so fast it's like I didn't lose 1 at all. Thanks for the links about the perks. My "goal" was just to see the whole map but since I can earn stuff for doing it...Icing on the cake!

Well, unless you have a specific 2nd TP in mind for your build, consider flight to acquire the sky level perks.

Well, unless you have a specific 2nd TP in mind for your build, consider flight to acquire the sky level perks. At lvle 25 I want to work on a CTP, which is flight (like) being a science major. I was thinking of buying ice slide when I get to 35, unless something cooler comes along before then. My glacier AT just seems to cry out for ice slide.

You won't be able to start work on the CTP until two things have happened.
1. Your crafting skill must be above 305 (or 310 can't remember which) which means you'll have to be at LEAST level 31 to get your research above 300.
2. Gain access to Monster Island, since this is where most of the components drop. You can get there from about level 27.
