Hello everyone, I just went gold and had the urge to make an alt using a guide from the official forums:
The Electric Gadgeteer
Power Sets: Gadgeteering/Power Armor/Electricity
Super Stats: END/REC
Play Style: Support/DPS, Farming
Passives: Invulnerability, Electric Form (for going DPS)
Block: Energy Shield
Energy Unlock: Molecular Self-Assembly
Key Powers: Sonic Blaster (w/ Refraction of Sound Adv.), Sonic Device (w/ Deafening Dissolution Adv.), Sparkstorm (w/ Electric Personality Adv.), Laser Sword, Munitions Bots, Support Drones
Secondary Powers: Orbital Cannon (w/ Anvil of Dawn Adv.), Electric Sheath, Bionic Shielding, Power Gauntlet (w/ Crippling Challenge Adv.)
Travel: Flight, Teleport
My best build. Where "best" means easiest to play. I use it on my character Moonlore quite a while now.
The Bloodmoon event is a good example for how well the build works: I can take down the undead heroes solo and I can do the 3-man-instances solo as well without trouble.
You may have noticed, that all attacks (with exception of the bots) are energy-based, means they are supported by the Electric Form passive and Electric Sheath.
With Invulnerability and the support drones I rarely need a heal. Certain hard hitting MOBs like Gargoyle and Jack Fool need to be handled carefully, but that's why I have a rank 3 shield, Bionic Shielding and the veteran heal-device.
I prefer Flight and Teleport as travel powers, because I consider them the best. Where "best" again means easiest. With flight you can park your char in the sky without risk of being attacked (civilians still jump up to you to give you missions), with teleport you can avoid the same old dungeon, that you already cleared ten times, and get straight to the boss/target without fighting. Also very useful in PvP (oh rly?).
Tactic:
Orbital Cannon, Sonic Device, Sonic Blaster, Sparkstorm, hit stuff with Laser Sword, loot and move on.
Problems:
On certain occasions the Support Drones get stuck and stop healing (re-summoning fixes that).
Sometimes the Sonic Blaster animation gets stuck (attacking or teleporting fixes that).
Flying MOBs like Demonflame's imps can be very annoying, as they tend to stay up in the air, outside the range of Sparkstorm and Laser Sword. But that's why there is flight.
You don't see awesome crits with this build. It's more about sustained damage delivered by a hard to kill hero.
Tip:
After taking Laser Sword check in your options, if the "ignore target" for melee is enabled. Otherwise you will get the "out of range" message all the time.
Question is, is the build capable of doing PVP/Duels?
Which skills should I remove or take?
And are support drones the way to go if I want to be able to survive PVP/PVE/Duels?
Thanks
