This was just a thought that crossed my mind last night.
Around the time I play, I can't seem to find a full group for those missions that teams are not only recommended, but required (Rhinoplasy, Destroyer's factory, etc), and I'm not able to take care of these missions myself either (and yes, I'm still a silver with archetypes only, so I can't make an soloable character).
And I know there are the sidekick devices to buy in the store, but they seem to just be generic looking characters, call me old fashioned, but I would like to have an ally thay would fit my character(s), and I do not want to spend my points on something I can't enjoy, and yes, I am a cheap person.
My thought is: Why can they just make a device(or a token) that you can use to create your own ally that fits your character? Buy a token from the C Store, talk to some vendor in the game to begin the ally creation that would be similar to the nemesis creation(Chose the power set with color scheme then make the character), and in return, you would get the sidekick device.
I'm sure there's a con to this somewhere, then again, it could be a con that can be fixed.

based on a few minutes of thought, I don't see a con to this. Especially since the game emphasizes soloable content anyway

It's too bad Silver members aren't alowed to post in the main Forum, otherwise I would promote this idea over there. Unless if there's a Gold member here who would relay this idea to there.
this might be something that people would be more interested than the generic sidekicks, because for as long as I've played this game, I have seem maybe one or two people using the heavy weapons sidekick, as for the others, they're being sold at the auction house for prices so low, even a silver member can get a hold of them, it just goes to show that these generic sidekicks are only good for selling them for a low amount of resources. At least with the custom sidekick idea, it could hold on to a players attention a little better than the generics would.

This has been brought up several times on the official forums. I think the developers have heard the suggestions, and it might be on the table for later, I don't know.

I know a few of us over there are banging the "make me a sidekick, dammit. We've got a nemesis" drum for a while. I don't think it should cost money, though. I think it should be an integral part of the game.

I think it should be an integral part of the game. I was thinking the same thing yesterday, not to have it cost anything, at least maybe buy it with recourses instead of real money, or have a specific mission that you can go through once or twice a day to earn the tokens. They should also add the HW Power set as one of the selected sets for this and still need to add it to the Nemesystem as well. (Nemesystem = Nemesis System, a word I made up...)
