About 3 1/2 hrs. ago I had surgery for the first time. Everything went great and I'm now home and doing fine. To anybody who had given me advice on it and helped calm me down about how it'll be, thanks.
Oh, and Percocet is awesome!

Well, glad it went well. Couldn't have been too bad if you're home after 3 hours.

Woohoo ! What's Percocet? It sounds like something tumerboy would mix into Lexeme's breakfast cereal.

Percocet is a narcotic painkiller. Actually, it's a cocktail of two drugs - one an opioid (oxycodone), and one an analgesic (paracetamol). It's essentially "the new Morphine" - just about as effective as a straight-up morphine dosage, and nowhere near as addictive. (It still is addictive ... just not as much as morphine is). There is some controversy over possible acitominophen overdoses, leading to deaths, tied to the use of Percocet, Vicodin, and similar painkillers. But by and large, used in conservatively-low dosages, it's a great way to deal with pain after a surgery. I've even been prescribed a few pills' worth after a tooth extraction, in fact (enough to keep me pain-free for the first day, after which simpler medications like advil should be more than sufficient). Especially the time I had all four wisdom teeth yanked at once, when I was 18.

The entire operation took just over an hour, and the doctors kept saying it went excellent.
As for the Percocet, I've only taken the dose they gave me after I was awake, but haven't need the pills they prescribed me. I know better than to take it unnecessarily.

I know better than to take it unnecessarily. Good man; that's exactly the right attitude to take with powerful painkillers like Percocet. With that said, if you DO feel pain beyond "slightly stubbed toe", don't try to be TOO manly, eh? Those pills were prescribed for a reason ... Regardless of all that, though: I'm glad to hear your surgery went without complications. May I inquire as to what sort of surgery you had?

**Warning, potentially gross medical info ahead**
My surgery was the removal of a Pilonidal Cyst. It's a cyst, or series of them, that grow near the tailbone.
At worst, they've been described by men and women alike as being as painful, if not more so, than childbirth when fully grown. Worst case recovery is 2 months in the hospital with an open wound over your tailbone.
At best (what I had), they hurt only when bumped and tend to do disgusting things. Best case recovery time is 2 weeks outpatient with a neatly closed incision.
That's about as much detail as I'm willing to go into about it, as they do indeed get quite disgusting.

Glad you got a best-case outcome!
