I'm gonna attempt to make a Hero near and dear to my MMO roots. I'm first and foremost, a tank player. In every MMO I have played my highest level toon and best played toon, to my mind, was a tank. This game intimidates me in that first, the role of tank is a bit different. Oh, I know they still need to do the same things a good tank should, taunt, make life easy for the healer, understand that dieing is part of the role since, let's face it, as the meat shield you are the appetizer before the main course ( total party wipe ). But the mechanics are still a bit tricky for me. Synergies are not as obvious, yet, and certainly I've not experienced a great deal of Boss fighting. I had hoped my brother and a few friends would play CO with me, but they have all gone back to other games. I'm tired of soloing and am making a tank with the thought of pugging ( I can't believe I typed that ... honestly ).
In CoH I played a Stone Melee / Willpower tank and loved him. I'm trying to go for the things he did ( but honestly there is no way I'll be able to cause the havoc he did. He was an AOE knock up/knock down super taunt machine )
So here we go, I give you The Flattener. He's gonna be a Dwarven Maul user who learned a trick or two from his Elven buddies.
The Flattener: Level 40 Champion
Superstats:
Level 6: Super Strength
Level 13: Super Constitution
Powers:
Level 1: Bludgeon -- Until Morale Improves
Level 1: Cleave -- Defensive Stance, Challenging Strikes
Level 6: Decimate -- Restraining Order
Level 6: Phoenix Flight
Level 8: Defiance -- Rank 2, Rank 3
Level 11: Defensive Combo -- Crippling Challenge, Surge Of Strength
Level 14: Enrage -- Giant Growth
Level 17: Brimstone -- Aftershock, Challenging Strikes
Level 20: Resurgence -- Evanescent Emergence
Level 23: Energy Shield -- Laser Knight, Rank 2
Level 26: Conviction -- Rank 2, Rank 3
Level 29: Electric Sheath -- Matter - Energy Union
Level 32: Molecular Self-Assembly
Level 35: Sword Cyclone -- Rank 2, Rank 3, Challenging Strikes
Level 35: Tunneling
Level 38: Inertial Dampening Field
Talents:
Level 1: Superhuman
Level 6: Physical Conditioning
Level 9: Body And Mind
Level 12: Healthy Mind
Level 15: Mighty
Level 18: Enduring
Level 21: Covert Ops Training
Some things are magical devices ( like a pendant of Phoenix Flight ) or ( Gnomish Ring of Force Shield ) )
I would rather ere on the side of a bit less damage and more defense. If it takes a week to kill a mob solo, so be it. In a group I only need to keep it looking at me and last. I put a couple heals and damage mitigation in to assist in keeping healers happy.
I'll make him tonight and see how it goes. I have yet to group in CO so this should be interesting
