Can anyone please explain to me how the heal power, Conviction, works? (Celestial Powerset)
The CO-Wiki says: You are able to temporarily increase your maximum health. + Increases your maximum health for a short time. + This buff will be removed if you take damage. + Heals you for a small amount.
It says it heals for 558 in the table, but what does it mean when it says "increases you max health...removed if you take damage" and then that it heals you for a "small amount"?
It sounds like it adds 558 hit points like an ablative shield, but that any damage (1-558+) will obliterate the quasi-shield, but heal you ' a little' is that right? If so, how can that be a good thing?
Please help me understand this!

It heals you for X amount, and also increases your max hit points. The bonus to max hit points is useless if you're getting hit at all, because it goes away instantly, but you still get healed for whatever X amount is (my SS Pre character heals for somewhere over 1000 with it...been a while since I've played him, so not sure the exact amount.)
It's meant to synergize with Iniquity, I believe.

It's meant to synergize with Iniquity, I believe. This is what the bonus health is meant to do...emphasis on meant.

Ah! That makes a lot more sense!
I'm left wondering about the value of 'X'; 1,000 seems like a lot to me even with the SS PRE. Assuming that you're enjoying a 30% bonus - that would still be over 750 points - less than normal heals, but still not a "small amount"!
I'm guessing then that using iniquity does not count as taking damage?
If anyone can continue to contribute that would be great, otherwise thanks to Vaeliorin and KenpoJuJitsu3!

What I've seen in the past is that people who study the power in-depth say what you've seen here - forget the bonus to health and any mention of CON.
Two synergies though - conviction can crit, and the brief cooldown is handy if you have MSA.
