Atm I'm playing a mind and a behemoth, my mind is a keeper, and even tho I love the survival of behemoths, (doing elite instances with no problem from lvl 11+) I''m leaning towards rerolling a soldier, (I mean, gattling and sniper are pure love). However, my experience is soldiers getting facerolled in tier 3 atm, and even tho I play classes for fun, dieing 10 times a match aint my idea of fun And I had a lot of problems doing hard or higher as soldier myself as well Is this a player problem or do soldier underperform in high end pvp? (outside sniping people)

T3 is a tough tier.
It's a shame because it's potentially the most fun, but here's I've seen happen in the past:
- You have to get a toon up to a decent level, because at level 26 and 29 not only are there some good powers, there is some actually decent crafted gear (believe it or not), and you can afford crippling challenge, but ... - Unlike T2, it takes some time to level a toon up, plus... - If you're really leveling a toon, you'll end up in T4, so... - There's not a huge population, meaning one small group can team up and faceroll, especially since... - People who stop aggressively leveling around 28 can camp out for a long time in T3, with a big advantage over lower-level toons.
One thing I love about T4 freeform is that many of the best players have gone squishy. They've come to understand that the ultimate BASH is where you win with 10 kills and 11 deaths. Because in those matches, everybody is an active participant.

ok, change of context!
Looking at the Soldier build, I hate it, especially for PvP.
Retaliation tends to be bad news with Avenger Role, but it's even worse with this build. The block itself isn't going to generate any energy (because of Avenger), you don't have any side-energy generation going on like Thermal Reverb, SS REC or MSA, and what's it going to buff, Shotgun?
Sniper Rifle with Targeting Computer is great until you hit a player with it once. Then they know the big target on their toon means it's time to block/break LoS/interrupt your attack.
Lock N Load with no melee attack to use with Two Smoking Barrels? The guy in the pic looks beefy, give him something, even defensive combo.
No active defense, no heal, bad block enhancer. They made a realistic type toon, entirely dependent on weapons, then forced you to use Teleport. Blech.

Blech. umm fyi, with the new devastator patch, blocking in avenger role does give you energy + you don't have any more resistance to break out from roots + you get 10% more hp.

I was thinking I don't know how I missed that one, but I lost my home Internet connection for a week so that quickly outdated me (and the Avenger Role page on the wiki). That's a good update, a really nice enhancement for themes, since Force Shield didn't look right for a lot of Avengers. I'm going to see if I can update the wiki for that.

Honestly playing a soldier in an arena really demands tactical attacks. Although it's a wussy thing to do, if you see a teammate in a 1v3 situation, it's usually best to let it go. Your best bet is to float around with teleport until you see a teammate in a 1v1 or 1v2. If you have a behemoth or glacier on your team, you're golden. Wait around for people to start hitting the tank, then fire away.

AT Avengers actually had undocumented energy on block for quite awhile, last patch just added it to freeforms as well because "It was't fair". Hi lunar
