This is just a heads up to all the superhero fans out there. There's a new F2P superhero MMO coming out later this year called Marvel Super Hero Squad Online. Yep, that's right, guess we know where the marvel IP went after Cryptic lost it. Anyways, it's launched from the browser, but I highly doubt that it'll be fully browser-based (i.e. still have to download a client). Just a warning though, it looks to be aiming for kids, so it's going to be really, really cartoony. The screenies kinda remind me of Wizard 101, Free Realms, and Lego Universe, but the devs say that adults can have fun too. I "think" its predominantly instanced based, but it does have bases to customize. linky: www.heroup.com/the-squad/I had to add this linky since it's so cute and funny at the same time: www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFV_XbJmsCY

I like Free Realms and Lego Universe so I'll give the devs the benefit of the doubt when they say adults can have fun. Free Realms was the last MMO I actually would team regularly for instances

This is based off of the Super Hero Squad cartoon that started a couple of years ago. It's really kiddie, but what I saw of the episodes were kinda funny. And I was really surprised at the number of lesser-known Marvel characters that showed up in it.

I'm sorry. Did I just see a SG base in that game when we STILL don't have them? Did I buy a lifetime sub to the wrong game? LOOK! I can play has hulk without calling lxhulkxl! OK, now that I got that out of my system. Looks...interesting. I'll check it out like I did DCUO...and perhaps this time I won't get reminded quite as quickly as to why I play Champions Online.

They do an adult level Watchmen-eque f2p then it would be interesting but this seems someone childish level but that can be good to.

It is a MMORPG for children from what i see... something like Free Realms. Its not bad, just for younger audience If there were CO Junior i would imagine it would look somewhat like this

I can't imagine something that kid-oriented holding my attention for long, but maybe playing real Marvel characters will help...

I thought Marvel Superhero Squad Online had already launched? ...but it appears they have 2 almost identical titles from their different developers. Gazillion are doing the one you mention dated: Q2 2011 seen here... and THQ did the offline version across all formats, seen hereWhat confused me was the art-style was very similar. The one to watch is Marvel's / Garguantuan Studios (a subsidery of Gazillion): Marvel Universe Online - (the serious and only contender left if DCUO continues to flop).I'm amazed there has been zero leaked about this at all considering this is supposed to be being launched within 2 years. So far they have scrimped up $60 million for its initial development.

Yeah the Super Hero Squad game is very kid-based. From what I remember reading/hearing, it's going to be like a sidescroller beat-em-up, and you can play as their title characters (can't make your own, I don't think). You group up in the game lobby and run instances together. I think for a serious gamer, it'll only hold your attention for a few hours, unless you've got a kid that's interested.
