Watched the movie and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Without giving away too much details, here's what I like: Asgard looks very much alive and filled with people. Humorous moments in the film. Character interaction especially between Thor and Loki. Mid and Post-Credit scene. Good pacing, film never felt slow.
What could have been better: More development of Malekith's character. More screen time for Hogun of the Warriors Three.
There were two or three moments in the film where I was genuinely surprised/shocked. Anyway, watching this film makes me eager for more of Marvel's Phase 2 and 3. So I'm now looking forward to Guardians on the Galaxy whereas I haven't paid it much attention before seeing this film.
Anybody else watched Thor: The Dark World so far?

I haven't seen it yet but i'm looking forward to watching it when it comes out on dvd, i also need to see Man Of Steel because i am a bit of a Superman fan, oh yeah and i saw the trailer for the new Captain America film as well the other day and that does look pretty special indeed, looks like Falcon is in it as well as Nick Fury, Black Widow and the rest of Shield so yeah lots of good super hero films coming out at the moment.

I'm sure you will enjoy it. Man of Steel was good, they've updated Superman not just in costume but also introduced a tough moral dilemma towards the end of the film. It's not exactly the Superman we used to know but it's still him. Caught the end of Captain America's trailer as I entered the cinema so haven't seen all of it yet. I like the first film, though it felt kind of slow, probably because the setting was in the 40s. Would be interesting to see what direction the second film takes as well as wondering what we'll see in the post credit scene. Marvel films have been quite good lately to the point that it's now a brand. Marvel's also building up to something big. Over two decades ago, I never would have thought a crossover film would be possible. On DC's side, it seems a Superman and Batman team-up is in the works. Exciting times for Superheroes fan.

Was reading some stuff online related to films based on Marvel characters and learned not all the character rights are with Marvel Studios.
Currently: 20th Century Fox hold the rights to X-Men and Fantastic Four. Sony has Spider-man. Universal Pictures has Namor.
Wonder if 20th Century will produce an X-Men/FF4 crossover film.
At the very least, it seem unlikely that an Avengers/X-Men/Spider-man crossover film would be produced until the rights revert back to Marvel.

Saw Thor last night. Great movie. Loved Loki (go fig, huge mancrush there) and Heimdall. Agreed with Malekith.
Pre and post credits scenes were great as well. Premier showing had 5 minutes of the next Captain America. I'm really looking forward to that movie now.

Watched it tonight. You guys were right, it was great. To my surprise, the Thor films were my favourite from the Marvel franchise so far. Now, I grew up an X-Men fan. Thor, Iron Man, Captain America I knew as part of the Marvel universe, but was pretty indifferent to all of them. But of the new films, Thor 1 and 2 have really impressed me.
I think the reason why the Thor films work for me at least is what you mentioned: Thor and Loki, good pacing, wanted more on Malekith and Warriors Three (and for me, Sif), but all of that, good or bad, comes down to one reason IMHO...every character was interesting in this film. I wanted to see more of every character, but the film's only so long.
IMHO, it might come down to the casting, not just in getting the big stars, but in matching them with roles that fit them so well. A sign of this was in the dialogue...there were some campy comic book lines, but when those actors say them, they pull it off. My favourite was when Odin just laughs off Thor's remark and it was like end-of-argument.

My main question about the movie is: Is there more hammering going in this one compared to the last one? I liked the first movie but was a bit disappointed at how little M'jolnir action there was.

Looks like you're not the only one with a mancrush on Loki, check out the pic below: Apparently, a fan made photoshopped picture was mistakenly used in a Chinese cinema. Seriously though, Hiddleston's performance as Loki was great!

Agreed, also felt the characters and their interaction help make the film shine. For example, that passing look Sif gave Jane was pretty telling for me.

I would say the hammer was used pretty much consistently throughout the various fight scenes. Mjolnir also got its own screen time towards the end of the film.

1st, omg that poster. In case you're wondering what it says, there's no slash fic references. It's just a general poster, the midnight showing. That just makes it more hilarious. And agree with Sif and Jane...someone in-game mentioned that specifically. It's like they set up the characters so well, you don't even need much dialogue.
And Mjolnir...it's interesting you mention that. Thor works with it well. Different uses, different grips, he doesn't juggle it like in the 1st film, he shows respect. I can't say much more without spoilers, but I think it's on par with Wolverine's claws. The way other characters refer to it, Mjolnir is almost like a side character itself.
