I understand there are a couple walkthrough guides out there that basically tell you how to play the game. These are obviously geared more towards soloers. My question is: does "powerleveling" exist in this game? Is it frowned upon? Does it work effectively? How/where do people do it?
At first I really wanted to be a solid PvEer, but once I realized how much fun PvP is in this game, I started moving towards a PVP focus. I know I'll get at least one character through the game by myself, but after the first or second time, I imagine leveling will become tedious. I also notice that it's a common consensus that the Behemoth struggles in PvE but dominates in PvP. I'd love to have a level 40 behemoth, but not if I can't be lazy in the process of getting there.
E: And just to avoid confusion, I'm not talking about a paid service to have someone level my character. I'm referring to having a friend level me up.

Personally, I've always been against having friends level my characters. If I'm going to play the game I'm going to play the game. Granted, I've let my friends play my accounts when they're over so they can try the game but never beyond that. If ya cant be bothered to level a char then don't start another character That all said, I rarely step into the pvp arena's because I just don't want too. Hate pvping dunno why always have. I'll do it when necessary but meh. And I'm rambling hehehe -- IF this is like Star Trek Online, you get XP by just doing pvp battles so you could easily grind up pretty quickly going that route especially since the AT queues don't take long to pop. Just FYI I'm not 100% certain on this as I have not pvp'd so hopefully someone comes along and says something hehe.

Well I fully intend to play the game through to level 40 at least once, but the combination of me wanting to make new characters and me not wanting to level them is devastating.

There really isn't much powerleveling. If you had a good gang of people you could probably find some sets of high-level missions that you could rotate through the timers of, sharing crossovers with a SKed person, but it's really probably more trouble than it's worth. Leveling's not particularly hard and you don't gain much by doing this, as XP gain tends to be more or less standardized in various ways.
Perhaps (especially since you're a fan of PvP) you could get some success burning through PvP matches with an organized team. If you had a few guys with characters hanging out at 16-20, 26-30, and 40, you could make 5 man teams and blast through PvP maps with ease, and probably get XP at a fair clip. You may end up killing the queues for a few hours when you do this though, and garner a lot of public hate...

I know for Zombie Apocalypse PVP, at least in the level 10-20 range, you can earn around 30K XP if you last the full 20 minutes.

And actually I'd imagine that's a pretty good way to level for a behemoth, since they excel especially well in Zombie Apocalypse. I'll keep that in mind once I finish my Specialist.

The other suggestion that I have is to team with someone. The most efficient team seems to be a DPS with a healer. I was playing Inferno last night with my Mind friend at level 24-26, and we basically tore through everything on elite (more XP given on elite, btw). Went through Project Awakening with no probs (although the boss didn't drop anything - ugh!), and mostly did missions that were a level above us. We leveled pretty quick.

I've been solo 90% of the time doing missions 3 levels above me. I worry that I'll run out of missions soon.

FYI, if your computer can handle it, the CO client allows multiple clients to be loaded at once. You can almost power level yourself if you want. Granted, your toons will probably have to be on separate accounts to do this.

I run the game on minimum settings at half resolution and I still get a maximum of 25 fps. I can't run two clients.

I personally haven't found any real issues with doing PvE with my Behemoth. I'm a person who likes to complete every mission given to him, in the level order that they're given, and there are just so many missions to do that my Behemoth is just outleveling the ones available. By the time I finished all of the missions available to me up to level 19, my guy was level 22. Granted, I PvP a lot, so that's bonus XP

Do an open mission if you're in the area and you're in the mood, drop in for a little zombie apocalypse, and keep an eye on your crime computer. Be sure to hit up your nemesis creation, as that gives out a few missions as well. There are some breadcrumb missions and Crime Computer missions that'll help direct you to many remote mission hubs. It's quite possible to make it to 40 without stepping foot in Lemuria or Vibora Bay, and without doing any crazy grinds. I often find that I'm severely outleveling my content, actually. >_>;
