Greetings Fellow Babies!*
I'm a relative newbie to Champions Online, though I'm old enough that my first experience of Champions was the original, first-edition version WHEN IT WAS NEW. I took a vacation of several years from Windows to run a linux box, but a year ago I broke down and got a new Windows system and had great fun playing all my old Windows games (BF1942 and X-Com via Steam, primarily).
Then I tried STO, which was amusing for a while but there was so much I didn't know about, or how to do, and the tutorials never told me what I really wanted to know. So I got bored with it.
I tried Champions Online next. I like superheroes, after all. Alas, the official instructions (and even the unofficial ones like the CO Wiki) for CO still don't answer the questions I really want answered--the really, really basic ones they assume you understand. On the other hand, I've been having so much fun with the game, that I'm still playing and slowly figuring out the answers I wish I'd had from the beginning.
I'm playing at Silver level because I'm a cheapskate, unwilling to shell out money for a paid account until and unless I'm VERY sure I'll stick with it. On the other hand, I've dropped several months' worth of cash on buying credits to unlock character slots and a hideout and various other things, so...FTP seems to have succeeded in hoovering money out of my pocket that Cryptic never would have gotten otherwise. So it's a win for everybody.
