Yeah, got some exciting info right here from the September "Ask Cryptic": www.champions-online.com/node/595506Q: Which AT is going Silver, and are there any more Silver AT's planned? A: The short answer is that all of the AT's will be free at some point to try. We are currently building and testing a system where Archetypes will be free to try for a week at a time. Each week a new AT will become free to try and the previous week's free AT will roll back into the list. You will be able to make a character with the Free Archetype of the week and when it rolls back into the list you can switch to the next Free Archetype for free. Of course you can always continue playing the AT if you purchase it or revert back to any of the other free AT's. You will not lose your character’s progress when you switch to the new free AT or any other AT. --- So basically it looks like the Paid ATs will rotate for trial purposes weekly! That last line, the character's progress will be retained, is the most exciting part! I've bought a Paid AT in the past, the Void, and one from the Alienware Promotion, the Devastator. The Void's particularly good, but it would have been better if I could compare with the other Paid ATs, even a little bit. I would have made a purchase decision that much faster. But the craziest part is, I actually plan on making a character specifically designed around this rotation mechanism. Like someone with a multiple personality disorder or something and each week a different identity, with a different powerset, manifests. Or like a metahuman whose abitilies are constantly in flux. This is so nice of Cryptic, and smart too. I really held back on purchases as a Silver since I had a very limited frame of reference to make buying decisions on. And thanks for letting us know they updated the Oct calendar, that was strangely blank earlier. I knew they were taking time to set a schedule on this, just because it's such a massive change, but man, seeing the calendar now is really interesting with the above in mind.

I wonder if we'll still get one of the two Martial Arts ATs as permanently free.

This sounds like it's gonna be awesome! like you, not1stepbackwards, i'm silver, and I'm really looking forward to a chance to compare some ATs.
I'd imagine they'll still make one of the martial arts ATs free too.
P.S. I'm gonna steal ur idea of a character that is based on the rotation:D

I wonder if we'll still get one of the two Martial Arts ATs as permanently free. 19-22 new Archetypes: "Unarmed" (2) aka the free one and the premium one and they don't have a name yet (at least that's what I gather from that line)

I saw both mentioned Joh it just wasn't mentioned on the calendar about free vs cost.

A clever way to motivate you to buy new character slots, this...

Okay, I made the mistake of reading this again...
So you'll roll one of the newly opened AT, and after a week, your now level 20 Tempest (or whatever) will lose all of it's powers and you'll have to go to the Powerhouse and make a Lvl20 Void (or whatever)?
Does it have to be a new character or can you do this with your current character?
If it's a new character, do you have to retire it when the final AT is put back behind the pay wall and make it an Inferno (or whatever)?
If you love playing the Tempest (or whatever) are you forced to pay to keep the AT when this event is all over?

That sounds Insanely cool! It not only gives the player the chance to see what these ATs are capable off, it also add an element of wonder and excitement to the whole system, you would check what's on schedule and wait like crazy for the AT that you want to go trial and when it does you'll go crazy with it while it last. Such thing would persuade people to buy ATs, Gee, AWESOME thing I still have an empty character slot. Way to go Cryptic, way to go!

I think it could be fun. Now to just design a hero that looks like they could swap on a weekly basis.

At least that way you get to play it for more than a week.

Regarding the martial arts ATs, would it be possible that they will be extremists? Example will be like one AT specializing in punches while the other AT will be expert in kicks?

Is the Archtype Rotation a permanent thing, or is it just a week with each gold arctype and then its finished. Regarding the martial arts ATs, would it be possible that they will be extremists? Example will be like one AT specializing in punches while the other AT will be expert in kicks? This is possible i was also thinking one might be in the protector role with Lightning Reflexes and the other a brawler with Way of the Warrior for slotted passives.
