Not wanting to appear to be trolling, but I have been shutting this comment up inside all weekend: Problem with savage? You are worried it is not sophisticated enough? Hurhurhur... Ok, now that's out I can finally get some sleep

i lvled a Savage from 1-40 and then went back to my Free ATs. Overall it was a very survivable toon but lacked the DPS i am fond of. i did however lvl it on elite the entire time, only changing to normal when i was in a group not ready for the hard stuff, so that may have been why it felt so weak.
Now that i have a Werewolf Device on my Behemoth i feel somewhat regretful for choosing to buy an AT so similar to a much more easily purchased device. There are a few key differences between the device and the AT, 1. PVP!!!!! You can't do this with the Device outside of duels. But your weakness is spike dmg (both giving and receiving) so its not that awesome anyway. 2. AT gets Resurgence. a nice spike heal that boosts resurgence makes it slightly more survivable. 3. Device gets Bite+Massacre, but no blood mess(as far as i can tell) pro and con here, you can stack bleeds easy but you loose 30% dmg boost to massacre. 4. Retaliation vs. Parry, imo retaliation>parry due to the major dmg boost is used intelligently but that requires planning. Still i think the Device gets the better deal dmg wise(ignoring SS issues). 5. Enrage!! Supernatural has several ways to trigger enrage but none that stack it. Paired with a Behemoth or a FF with an enrage stacker you get yet another huge dmg boost for the Device that's nearly impossible with the AT.
i am sorry to say i prefer the Device over the AT for general use because its a cheap and easy way to do boss fights. They are long but really easy.
Edit: Forgot to mention, i used a Chaos Demon Device when lvling the Savage, using the claw AoE just took to dang long.
