um.. i have a grimoire and im trying to equip a damage boost item to my primary offence slot.
the items say they will do supernatural or dimensional or some other type of damage. But when I equop a supernatural damage item to my primary offence slot, it says the item is "enhancing nothing".
grimoires use eldritch bolts and blasts. what kind of item should i equip to o the item will enhance the damage? usually the item says 6% chance of about 200 damage for my level (in the teens).
thx!

Can't help you with the kind of damage enhancer you need, as I've never used them. The reason for that is that they're pretty useless. You lose a ton of stats for a small damage proc with a really low chance of happening. Not worth it most of the time.

Disagree strongly with DPS, power replace items are among the best ways to boost damage from one slot. Considering the level 40 situation, even at 5% for 1200 damage, that's ~60 damage per attack on average. 5% is not a low percentage, its one attack in 20. When you start throwing around AoEs that are so enhanced you'll notice, since every time it applies damage it checks.
I believe a grimoire does *sorcery* attacks. I honestly have no idea what 'supernatural' is in this game.
You might also try power replace items which just effect all your powers regardless of what damage you deal. The primary offense item seems to be "... (damage) receiver", so a Lightning Receiver would add lightning damage. They're 5% chance to activate instead of 6.5%, but they'll work on absolutely every power you use.
Another option is Coruscating Might, which gives a percentage chance to add >300 offense for a short time (at level 40 at least). From my testing (lvl 40), each 3 offense adds 1% damage, so its ~+100% damage. This makes coruscating might better if you deal high damage per attack, and power replace better if you make lots of smaller attacks.

Nah, not even close, huge dismishing returns and cryptic math ALso, power replacers don't affect all powers, so that 80+ superstats or offense, are gonna help ya out more in the long run.

Nah, not even close, huge dismishing returns and cryptic math ALso, power replacers don't affect all powers, so that 80+ superstats or offense, are gonna help ya out more in the long run. That 80 superstats is like 5% damage increase if you're lucky, because of diminishing returns. Note that I'm playing a Behemoth AT with werewolf form and Center of Gravity relevantly in my device slots. So, just looking at stuff i have in my bank: First the minor boost Shadow Burst: 25% chance of 24 dimensional damage. Works on Defensive Combo, Demolish, Shockwave, Upper Cut, Roomsweeper, Mighty Leap, Clobber, Center of Gravity. (Does not work on werewolf form). Note shadow burst is available on slots other than primary offense and will *stack* with another power replace item (tested, seen simultaneous procs). Green Fist of Focus Form: 6.5% chance of 1119 ego damage. Works on 'unarmed attacks': Defensive Combo, Demolish, Upper Cut, Roomsweeper, Clobber. (Does not work on werewolf form) (also provides 10 str 10 dex Green Fulminating Lightning Receiver: 5% chance of 1119 electrical damage. Works on Defensive Combo, Demolish, Shockwave, Upper Cut, Roomsweeper, Mighty Leap, Clobber, Center of Gravity. (Does not work on werewolf form). (also provides 10 str 10 dex) Blue Survival Sonic Receiver: 5% chance of 1279 sonic damage. Works on Defensive Combo, Demolish, Shockwave, Upper Cut, Roomsweeper, Mighty Leap, Clobber, Center of Gravity. (Does not work on werewolf form). Also provides 179 health per kill. Green Sacred Wolf Spirit Ritual: 5% chance of slashing burst and 1115 slashing damage. Works on Defensive Combo, Demolish, Shockwave, Upper Cut, Roomsweeper, Mighty Leap, Clobber, Center of Gravity. (Does not work on werewolf form). Also provides 18 presence. Now, you'll note the 6.5% chance one doesn't work on some powers, and even though it triggers slightly more often that really limits its viability. The 5% ones trigger off everything, including a device power (Center of Gravity). So don't say power replace items don't effect all powers. There are some that do. They have a 5% proc chance instead of a 6.5% proc chance... the horrors...

80 ss is for a lot of classes not just 5% dps. It can be more crit It can be more falldamage It can buff duration of damage powers. It can buff enrage or +damage/energy gain (indirect dps) from toggles Summarized version: 10% crit (random number) with a severity of 100 is gonna outperform any power replacer by far already, thats without +damage from toggles or SS extra damage taken into the maths. Etc. Ps: 1.5% difference on a 6.5% max is actually quite a big dif Pss: i hope you realise that AT's that stay strictly to 1 kind of attack are a lot different than a grim in this story:) (unless you can provide some links to the items, i can't find most:) )

Searching 'wolf spirit' for primary offense at the level 35-40 range generates appropriate items as low as 1G. I don't have a proper toon to really test just how many powers these apply to, however.

Did some more experimenting, Offense works like a bonus superstat, so 300 offense is about 36% enhanced damage.
