I stopped playing Champions because I got tired of the constant nerfing. I made like 4 characters from beta to months into release and systematically they all got nerfed due to one of their powers and I just remember the game not feeling fun anymore. I have been playing MMOs since EARLY everquest. I know very well balance hard for MMOs to pull off.
I am not expecting things to be perfect, but have the domino chain of pretty drastic nerfs stopped?
Also about balance there were a few things that just always bothered me, like how certain END builders were stronger than others. If I remember right it was either sonic blaster for the cone aoe, or bolts cause it had been found that they gave faster end than the others, and arrows were just terrible vs the rest. With there being such a large amount of lack of balance on something like that... it always bothered me seeing so many archer characters have bolts as their END builder cause of that.
Have those been balanced?
Another thing that pulled me away from the game was the lack of defined roles. When I was playing there was no real tank builds, tanks were slightly better at taking dmg than a DPS, they had no functional way to hold or keep agro which lead to the most annoying part of doing an instance... Keeping the healer alive. I never played a game where healing agro was so unmanageable. Until that was fixed I thought that there could never be any real endgame content.
Has that aspect been worked on?
Lastly how are the themed builds working out nowadays? I always liked the idea of making a themed character, but when I was playing there were very few themes that were even remotely viable.
I have some unexpected free time this week and just happened to get an e-mail about the game going f2p and thought I might give it a try.
While waiting on the several hours of downloading I wanted to look up some builds and ect and found you can't post on the official site anymore. I almost hit the cancel button right there, but I saw a link to this board and the posts here look good and informative.
