Had someone in zone chat tell me that Viperium Flex alloys should trade 10/1 for Reinforced tissues and 1/1 for metabolic accelerant. That seemed rather steep to me so I didn't go for it. I am getting Viperium and Dragon cores I have no use for and was wanting to help someone instead of just selling them at the vendor. What are reasonable ratios for Viperiums and Cores?

The someone in Zone is correct.
Viperium Flex Alloys/Metabolic Accelerant/Elemental Air Essence are roughly 10 times as common a drop than Dragon Power Cores/Reinforced Tissues/Ritual Blood Knives.

Please please please don't sell them to a vendor, they are worth so much more at the AH or shout in zone.
The cost for CTP components is rather high right now but if more people know not to trash them the supply goes up and costs come down, so post them on the AH if you want to get rid of them.

I usually shout out in zone, but lately it's hard to get any takers. I had 115 Viperiums clogging up inventory slots and it took more than an hour to rid myself of them. It seems a waste to buy another bag slot just to carry components, but since there are no crafting tables on MI I spend way too much time going back and forth to MC just to clear my inven. I will accept the 10/1 next time someone brings it up , might be able to barter a little better exchange

You get more than enough of the common drops (alloy, accelerant, essence) just as a side effect of farming for the rare drops (cores, tissues, knives), so unless someone is buying almost all their rares, there's not much point in buying the commons.
In other words, there may not be much demand for flex alloys. It's the Dragon Power Cores that people will want to buy.

Viperium Flex Alloys/Metabolic Accelerant/Elemental Air Essence are roughly 10 times as common a drop than Dragon Power Cores/Reinforced Tissues/Ritual Blood Knives. The drop ratio is more like 1/5. I just farmed last weekend for Electric Flight R1 and when i had the 600 Reinforced Tissues i also had a little more than the needed 3000 of the common items.

I just drop stuff at the AH. Always with priced 20% to 50% less than the lowest price. I don't need to be a very rich hero. I'm comfortable and I like to help others. Also, I've noticed dragon power cores drop more often on my science toon than on the arms toon. Relevant?

The drop ratio is in fact indistinguishable from 1:5. I've farmed an R1 and R2 sci CTP and done the statistics.
The problem is that the demand ratio is actually closer to 1:4 once you figure in the quests, and assuming most people only make each CTP once per character (so they do the quests as often as they make the CTP). This means that people tend to find an excess of the common components relative to their needs if they are farming it themselves.
The following is probably illustrative. Lets say you're farming an R1 CTP, which requires 3k common and 600 uncommon components. However, you also need 205 of each for the quest line. By the time you farm 3205 common components you'll have approximately 3205/5 = 641 uncommon components, or 164 short. To farm those 164 you'll generate ~820 common components you don't need.
This tells us a couple of things: (1) the market is flooded (or at least should be) with common components. (2) The only people who are buying common components are also buying all or most of their uncommon components.
So a 10:1 exchange rate for common:uncommon is probably pretty good, actually. I'd certainly have taken that on mutated genes:atomic neural receptors when i was farming the latter.
As far as selling: Viperflex i have never seen sold. I assume it goes pretty cheaply like 50 for 1-2G. Check the AH, but i'm probably pretty close on the real price.
Dragon power cores seem to move quickly at 3G apiece and will move at 4G apiece. Its insane, but it does. Real value is probably slightly less than 2G apiece, but there are people with deep pockets who apparently don't blink at throwing down 4G apop for the 800 they need... (Heck, Atomic Neural Receptors routinely clear on the AH for over 8G apiece, so if you think 4G apiece is insane, its not even the craziest one)

I have found the drop rate to be in the1/5-1/6 range, at least farming in the Rats in the Maze. Since I am not getting much of the other stuff I don't have to worry about trading yet. Last night I even got a few new and valuable item drops, every little bit of defense or con helps!
