Not sure if this is the right area for this post though... sorry if it's not...
I would like to buy another Archetype for now and probably not gonna give anymore money for a while, at least until I find a job..
But I rounded my choice down to two archetypes that tickles my fancy.
The Impulse looks like a fun Archetype to play as, although I think the whole "Knocking people around" might be a little of a nerf if you're doing team missions(I should know, Miogei(My Grimoire) had a problem with a force user team member...)
Miogei: Finally got all my Sigils down near the boss and my Circle of Arcane Power where I want it, now to-- *Force user blasts boss across the other side of the room* Miogei: Son of a...
Having a shield spammer might help with long winded fights too for solo or team groups.
Character concept: Arch Mage Orin Takoda

I know the calender says they will come out at the end of this month, I did find the power listings for the archetype The Disciple, although I love the concept, i'm worried if it might just be The Blade with shiny pink swords, but it would add another CQC character to my roster and Ego Leech does sound fun to use. A shame that silvers can't change hue colors, I really would like to change the color to a aqua green color.
Character Concept: The Red Jade Assassin, Shiva Kagurazaki
I'm just asking for opinions from other fellow gamers to help my decision...

It's probably going to come down to which playstyle you prefer.
The Inmpulse won't give you the raw damage output that the Disciple can offer, but he is a relatively balanced package. With Force Cascade you have a big hitter in your arsenal, with Force Shield, Protection Field, Field Surge and IDF, combined with the knockback that your powers cause, you will have excellent defenses. Just remember if you pick the Impulse, choose Kinetic Manipulation at 8, not Personal Protection Field. Trust me on this.
The Disciple is a high damage character, but (at least if he goes live in his current status) he is a melee with absolutely no defenses at all (except for the piddly telekinetic shield). He will be worse than the Blade in this regard, because he doesn't have the possibility of building for some dodge (like the Blade), and doesn't even have an active defense for emergencies. If you think Blades are squishy (and they are), this is a step squishier. So if you choose Disciple, you should accept the fact that you will die occasionally (or more if you're not careful with pulling), and that there will probably be some things you won't be able to solo, that the Impulse could.
But after all, it's going to come down to personal preference, so there's only so much I can say.

Um ego form is going to be changed to have some resistance to all damage so its not gonna be that squishy. plus its gonna crit a lot more than a blade .

You're not going to be using Ego Form on the Disciple, but Id Mastery, the new passive. And the damage resistance on it is nothing that will make you "not-squishy", it's nice, but not all that much by itself.
Also, the Disciple will definitely not crit more than a Blade, since it doesn't have Dex as a superstat, while the Blade does. With good gear, you can maybe get to an equal crit chance if you gear for Dex together with Mental Discipline's crit bonus.

doesnt the new ego leach give crit chance?
also ego now adds some crit chance
Idealy the devastator should be about as squishy as a blade but it feels more durable

Well I just decided to buy the Impulse for now, thanks to the sale I also had enough to buy account wide costumes. I'll update my gameplay once I try it out tonight.

Hey, i've just found this article here on wiki, i says that the disciple's SS are EGO and DEX. Check it out: www.champions-online-wiki.com/wiki/The_Disciple

Yeah, the wiki entrance doesn't even have the new passive or the new toggle. Besides, a dev just posted on the official forums that they currently have no plans to change Recovery as superstat (in response to many posters wanting Dex, Con or Int instead).

man, i just dont know y they just choose to use REC as SS for a TK character. Rec is important for almost all builds, but to SS it in this one? As a Brawler(dps) character, DEX/EGO would be more suitable to make it competitive. Well, they've changed the power tree too...it appears the removed telekinetic eruption. So it wont have those excellent buffs from it. i rly dont like the Disciple now 1.Tk blades is end heavy 2. u get a DMG TOGGLE instead.... 3. Dev has a rec SS and its one of the BEST ATs.

Dev has a rec SS and its one of the BEST ATs. wait wait wait, Devs are ok. They use STR/REC cause of knocks and unstopable return of energy, so they dont ever need to use the energy builder. Devastators work fine with REC. I have one devastator lvl 40, and i do just fine in both in pve/pvp. My point is, considering The TK AT as a brawler, Y not to use DEX as a SS for TK blades! Getting some REC could be easy to obtain as some points in advantages and itens, as END, and CON. about the dmg toggle thingy, how it works anyway? cant find its descripton anywhere. depending on how it works, i can eventually change my mind

They aren't using DEX because A) The Disciple would be overpowered. B) REC helps a little with energy management, something they really need. C) You can get really high crit rate in TK without stacking DEX, so it isn't really necessary. Also, about the toggle, there's info about it here and info will most likely also pop up here soon.

I get that they're not using Dex to keep the ATs powerlevel down (although I find choosing a superstat with the primary intention of nerfing the AT very questionable). But they could have used Con or Int, imo both better choices than Rec. Rec seems to have been chosen to explicitly make stacking Dex as difficult as possible (due to sharing gear slots), and I don't think I like that much.
