So, after I finished the Project Stein arc for the Southwest Desert, I see that I have no more quests to do in the area, and no one has a shiny yellow exclamation mark over their heads.
I figure that I'm done with the zone for now and that if I get to a high-enough level to do the rest of the zone, someone would redirect me back to a Desert NPC in need, so I leave to do the missions in other areas.
However, as I started the Monster Island quests, I thought: "gee, I'm level 32 now - it's been awfully long since I've had to hit the Desert", so I go check out the list of "Missions by Neighborhood" and feel gutted to see that I missed both Area 51 and Devil's Head Mesa, and am now several levels above what I was supposed to have been at to do these!
I have no idea how I missed these - I'm a completionist in all the games I play, so I don't know how I could have missed a contact :S.
Where should I go to start these quests? The wiki says that there's a reporter guy - Jerry Jelic - but doesn't specify his exact coordinates :S. Well, there's a link, but it doesn't work.
Where should I even go first? Stronghold? Area 51?
Thanks!

My advice is, go into the Mission overview and click on -crime computer- at the lower left. Hope that helps

My advice is, go into the Mission overview and click on -crime computer- at the lower left. Hope that helps Thanks ,but it doesn't help - none of the listed missions are in the Desert . EDIT: I just found Jerry Jelic, but I would still like to know the location of the other contacts, like for the Stronghold mission arc, as well as how I was supposed to be directed to these questgivers in the first place. I just don't like missing out on stuff .

Quite honestly the Crime Computer is supposed to be how people were directed to various quest givers. It could be that I just missed it when I was at the appropriate level =/. I actually find that besides the occassional flyover, everyone who provides the quest arcs are directed to me from an NPC who gave me another arc, so it was all pretty smooth. I still have no idea where Fredrick Grasse is, by the way. I don't suppose you know where he is? :S

This is certainly not the best game to be a "completionist" in.
There are quests you get only by standing on a small and specific spot, quests you get off of items you loot, both at random and from specific mobs, and seemingly specific level quests you may or may not get at random from people running up to you asking for help.

I would suggest moving along to MI, Lemuria, and VB. If/When you move your next alt through the levels, you'll have some fresh material in the desert to entertain yourself with. :]

It's happened to me on both characters so I wouldn't be too surprised about it, I think in my case it's just that I'm not leveling up fast enough (since I usually doing quests a couple levels ahead) and so the contacts just don't open up and I"m not being redirected

Is the crime computer suppose to tell us EVERY contact that currently has a mission for us? I've accidentaly ran into contacts with missions for me that the crime computer failed to mention at all.

No, there are two issues with the Crime Computer that have been present forever it seems. 1) It doesn't point out all the missions on a good day. 2) Of the missions it does point out, it only points out ones that are within a certain range of your current level. So if you're level 21 and missed some level 8 missions and perks the computer is not going to help you.
