And I am extraordinarily disappointed.
It's not like it's under performing, but I got my scything blade. I wonder now why they bothered to include anything else since the starter attack is just so plain awful. Which wouldn't be so bad, but scything blade has no variation in the animation to make up for it. My next attack won't be for quite a few levels.
Just.. what the hell?

I tried one to and like yourself I didnlt get on with it. I restarted it 3 times before deleting it concluding that it's just not for me. That said I'm really glad this AT clearly work for many other players as I often team with blades and, in the right hands, they clearly rock mightly!

Well, as I said, it's not as if my expectations for killdeath were not met.
There is just something seriously lacking with the AT. My Devastator has rockin' attacks, but I still find reasons to use the earlier ones. My basic starter AOE is still the best for basic henchman lawn mowing duty due to speed. Eruption makes a good one two combo along with decimate to close in. Either a good opener for a boss or instantly slay one henchman. I don't feel as if skewer completely replaces my ENTIRE POWER SET. Everything hits respectably. The animations feel well thought out..
Just.. I don't even know. Ugh.
I wonder if a freeform single blade would be any better. Kind of sad I wasted some money on the fantasy costume set now for the rapier, but I'll get use on the other costume bits on characters.. Maybe a formal outfit for my devastator.

I wonder if a freeform single blade would be any better. I'd get on the PTS or powerhouse Freeform and mix & match single/dual blade. I've got a variant on the specialist and I'm liking the dual blade powers Blade tempest (starter) & eye of the storm (tier 2).

I'm seriously considering going gold just so I can make a not ass blade user that isn't a devastator. I love the devastator to death, but I want to make a more stately character as well.
Not so sure about dual blades though. Not what I had in mind for the character I am making.

Actually, if I am going to go ahead and go gold, I might as well go full out and do what I really want. Telekinetic blades.
Mind pointing me where I can go to read up on them? I don't mean the wiki. That only tells me mechanics. It doesn't tell me how the set feels, performs, or the playstyle I should expect out of it.

I gather any advice would be subject to change as the devs are reviewing the TK powers right now for when the TK AT (disciple) comes out. Give it about a week after that's released and there should be some guides.

I am notoriously impatient. I can't wait weeks for the AT to be released.

I am notoriously impatient. I can't wait weeks for the AT to be released. Lol, the problem is that the update with the Disciple is gonna change a lot of things, especially where stats are concerned. And as it is, once the Disciple comes out, you can just purchase that and get TK Blades without having to subscribe. As for your Blade problem, you can check out my guide, but honestly, I felt that the Blade isn't so great at lower levels. It's kind of a late bloomer - after you've invested some time in it, you start getting your returns - but it takes a bit. In all honesty, my Blade is my least favorite character - I dunno why, he just fits my personal playstyle the least. That being said, it IS a good Archetype - it just depends on your preferences.

Yeah, but I'm at the point where I'm buying SO MANY THINGS that I might as well subscribe.
Buying every single AT ever would be quite a bit of money by itself.

But once you buy it, it's yours forever. With subscribing, you own it only so long as you're paying lease on it. Once you run out of money or decided that you're playing too casually to keep paying, you immediately don't own any of the hard work and achievements that you've been paying for all that time.

I made a similar thread to this and I agree....blades animations are garbage. I went with Devastator and I am almost totally happy with Devastator. I could use a few more base CON, but whatever. I still have sooooo much fun with that toon. Blades animation seem a bit out of place, crazy, and just cheezy. Overhaul anyone?

If you're going gold anyhow you get access to the pts section of the forum and the pts server itself.
There you can try out the new TK set.

Everyone says this, lets turn it around, if you buy 1, you feel obligated to play it. I make a ff, its borin? BOom, retcon:)

Reaper's Caress has an aoe advantage, it does more damage per second than Scything Blade, the aoe version does full damage on all targets unlike Scything Blade, and it can stack Bleeds unlike Scything Blade.
So what you should really be asking is why do you have Scything Blade?
