Over the past week or so I've seen a few conversations in Zone chat about Gold players not being particularly welcoming to Silver players.
I just want to say that as a lifetime subscriber from the original pre-launch wave and an old beta player, you're all totally welcome as far as I, and everyone I know in-game, is concerned.
The game is alive again because of you guys!
Unfortunately there are knob-heads in any group of people so I apologise if any Gold players have been less than welcoming.
The vast majority of us, Gold and Silver, want CO to be a decent community that everyone feels a valuable part of.

Well said and I share the sentiment 100%

I haven't seen these convos in zone yet but I completely agree with the sentiment.
I welcome all players...Gold, Silver, Purple, Blue...I don't care. I've spent much of my time in the last week just sitting idle in MC answering questions in zone chat and on the silvers channel. I like helping out the new bloods and the returning old bloods.

I haven't seen these convos in zone yet There is one person in particular who spams zone with it. He has also tried to complain on the main forum. But nobody likes him anyway... must have to do with his winning personality

It's especially funny because nobody really cares, and it's not like people are walking around with a big arrow pointing at them saying "SILVER SCUM!!!!" or anything.
If you're silver, nobody knows. The few that know, probably don't care. The few that care are probably trying to help. And the few that aren't, are probably D-bags that are getting told to shut the hell up for any number of other reasons anyway so their opinion is generally ignored.
Finally, if you're a Silver in zone chat complaining that Cryptic/Golds/Jesus are giving you a hard time, nobody likes you. Not because you're Silver, but because you're complaining. When a Gold player does it, they get, and have always gotten, the same treatment. If you have a question, by all means ask it, zone chat usually races to answer as quickly and helpfully as possible, but when people start coming out accusingly and complaining you've automatically lowered the number of people willing to help.
P.S. welcome to all new players, Silver, Gold, both, whatever, so long as you're playing.

I was playing since the start of F2P of CO and I heard one or two in zone chat about that issue. As a silver myself, I know better that some people have different opinions about the F2P change of CO. Many people already adapted and welcomed us silver players with open arms, even help us step by step and such. As far as I know, all the players I met were helpful and nice.

The reason Silvers do not feel particularly welcome or a valued part of the community has a lot more to do with the fact that they cannot participate in zone chat for their first 20 hours, or on the official forums ever, (except in the PC and Technical Issues forum.)
Most experienced MMO players know better than to listen to the occasional zone chat troll.

The restrictions aren't a Gold idea and most players who were involved in the beta and before and after didn't like the chat restrictions and rallied against them and were and are being ignored regarding them, so why are Golds being involved in not being welcoming due to something they have no control over and in fact fought against, and furthermore went to the trouble of creating and running these boards? The first 3 people to sign up for these boards were and continue to be Gold members.
Tell you what, since IMHO every instance of Golds Don't Respect Silvers seems to be hearsay why don't we start posting specific examples so the rest of us can go lynch that guy what did it.
Mind, if A does something stupid, and B calls A stupid, and B happens to be Gold while A is Silver, this is not on instance of Gold harrassing Silver this is is an instance of Jerk harrassing Tard. Correlation is not Causation.

I've yet to hear any serious raging against silvers, aside from the Club Caprice shenanigans. That said, the lion's share of the golds are somewhere between indifferent and eager to welcome them.
The 20 hour thing is a bad idea, and hopefully they revise it in the near future.

Don't get me wrong, it's not that I've seen loads of Gold vs Silver flaming going on, just one small instance and a some people talking about others. As Dysmetria said, it's probably just zone chat trolls.
I just posted because I'd hate it if a division developed between Gold and Silver players, and these early days are the critical time to nip something like that in the bud.

I would hate to see any form of elitism become prevalent. I think that the bulk of the players who love this game realize that the silvers are the future. Scaring them away is the worst thing that could happen. I like to make everyone feel welcome. Of course, my sense of humor sometimes backfires . . .
