To anyone who doen't know APB(All Points Bulletin), which was first released last year by Real Time Worlds, was to be a Grand Theft Auto –type MMO. Well that lasted only a couple months as RTW went bankrupt and the game shut down, but that wasn’t the end Gamers First bought the game did some game play retooling and is going to release it as APB: Reloaded and will be F2P (yay!!!). The Open Beta was released last week. I’m not sure how many tried this out last year (I did) it’s not a bad game, has some bugs, missions can become repetitive, driving can be a frustrating at times and there is some lag (but hey when isn’t there lag in CO). Still it is a really fun game especially with a friend or good group (what games is not I guess). Graphics are really nice and if you thought CO had great character customization, it actually is nothing compared to all the customizing that can be done in APB, from your character to cars to your music playlist. Although F2P gets some restrictions (just like CO), it still has a lot to offer well worth a try when not playing CO. www.gamersfirst.com/apb/I'm in East server IGN: MajorHavok (Pretorean)

I played it way back during the late beta, before the first release and crash-and-burn.
It sucked.
...
What material changes, if any, have been made to gameplay? To the world? To the game's BALANCE[/i] between players, so you don't end up with a team of hyper-advanced, hyper-capable, hyper-equipped guys systematically trashing "n00b zones" ...?
Because sadly, it'd take a LOT of work, before I'd be willing to set foot in that cesspool again ... even if THEY paid ME.

Not really the reaction I have toward the game, but you are welcome to your opinion. Sorry it was such a bad experience. For balance they have added a match making system, which helps in the "noob trashing" somewhat. The world is basically the same, although you do have a better balanced starter car, and the starter weapons aren't just pee-shooters and you can go far with begining weapons. But if you did not like it the first time you probably will not like it now...

I played this in closed beta for a while. Ended up leaving it because of some design choices they made for the Reloaded version.
First problem I had was the TTK (Time To Kill). Basically you could 4 shot people with the right gun. Shotguns could 2 shot you. Fights only lasted a few seconds. It wasn't even enough time to get to cover. I would come around a corner and be blown away.
Second problem I had was that they took away my guns and made me lease them in 10 day intervals. Basically you only permanently own the STAR and the snub nose revolver that you start with. Any other guns you have to now rent for 10 days. They sell permanent models in the cash shop, but that still really grinds my gears.
Third was the matchmaking system. I was TL (Threat Level) 2 and got matched with guys who were TL 15. Suffice to say all I did was die. They then tried to "fix" the spawning points but only made it worse. Yay for spawning on top of of the enemy squad and getting 2 shot before I can move! Also I was constantly getting 1v3, with me being the 1. No fun at all.
Fourth was the heavy restrictions on the decal layers. 3 for clothing and 7 for cars. Oh boy. I ended up running around with just jeans and a button down shirt on my enforcer.
Fifth was the missions. My team and I could slay the opposition right up to the last phase of the mission. Then suddenly we can lose the whole thing because the other team finally managed to pull off ONE objective. AFKers in missions sucked too. That's a community issue though and not a design flaw. People would join missions, go AFK, and then get rewards for doing no work.
So yeah, it was fun for a while, but got very annoying quickly. I also hear that aimbotters in the higher ranks are still a problem, but since I was always being matched with the pros, I couldn't tell you who was a bot and who was just a beast. Oh well.

By what Lantesh says ... it's the same as before. Guess I'll skip it, still.

Wow, sorry I posted. Even I dislike the game now after reading both your posts. It won't happen again...

lol it wasn't my intention to argue with you or shoot down your opinion. Pax asked what changes had been made and having recently played it, I gave my impressions. Yeah, maybe it was negative and sarcastic (mainly the part about the decal limits) but eh, that's just how it all came across to me. Anyways if you or anyone else enjoy the game, I say go for it. It seems it's popular enough, especially with articles coming out about setting some beta attendance records that I read recently on it. Also it's free, so anyone wanting to check it out has nothing to lose.

I do have to admit the decal limitations do bug me a little as well. Not sure why those are restricted so badly, as customization is one of the games real strong points, hopefully this will changed a little once it's fully released.

Yeah, recently my brother's computer suffered a massive, "holy crap this is horrible!" level of crash and had to be redone. I tried installing this shortly before that happened. Like, "you must reboot your computer!" and it never booted back into Windows. I'm personally staying away, which sucks because the character creator looks so nice. Probably for the best though, as I'm not a big PvP fan.
