Helena, Nickname Toxic, was feeling good today.
She was riding her bike the side streets so she could get over to Brian for their Friday Zombie Movie Marathon, and she had just gotten a new pair of jeans.
It was always a problem for Helena to get new clothes, and for a long time she had only worn dresses, but she was 13 now, and she had plagued her mum to buy her a pair of low-cut jeans, like all the other girls.
And though her mum hadn't liked it, with Helena's tail it hadn't been necessary to make a hole in them.
Not that she wanted to be like all the other girls, her and Brick, as Brian was nick-named, were special.
They were one of the reasons why New Hope, their home town, had been created by PRIMUS in the first place.
New Hope was really a simple, but brilliant, idea, and though it was not a 100% success, it was successful enough to continue receiving funding.
Since most supers had the same needs as humans, they would of course have children, and as many super villains went to jail fairly frequent, they would of course lose custody of the children, and leave behind a single parent.
What PRIMUS offered in New Hope was a place to raise the children in a safe and protected environment for these parents.
Everything about New Hope was set up to raise the child with a humane view of the world and a love for the nation, so when the super child came of age it would join in the fight to protect mankind.
“Ouch”, in a happy mood Helena had swung with her tail and nicked it in the back wheel. She grumbled a moment, put the tail over her shoulder, and soon forgot about. She had done it so many times, she had always had a 'Hello Mew'-plaster with her when she was younger.
As she reached the house where Brian lived she jumped of the bike, and let it fall on the lawn. She had done it a hundred times before, and each time she had gotten yelled at by Brian's mum, but still she kept forgetting it.
She made only a couple of steps away from the bike, before everything turn a green kind of strange swirly smoke, and then with a small pop it was gone again, but she was no longer on earth.
Confused Helena looked around.
She was standing it what was clearly a magic circle, and it looked like it had been drawing with, what she guessed, was blood, and it was surrounded by hundreds of candle, that stank of old fries. And there were bones and other stuff.
Something was moving outside the circle, and she could hear some eerie shuffling sounds.
“Am I suppose to be scared by this? Come on. I have seen all 3 'Undead Demons', 'The Wizard's Error', and the entire 'Darkness Bringer' series.”, she said, and made a yawning gesture.
A figure emerged from the shadows. It was cloaked in a hooded dark-red robe, and it had taloned hands.
It made a small cough, then said, “Daughter. I have summoned you, so you can join me in taking over the mortal realm and bring untold suffering to mankind.”
Helena made a small chuckle, then put a hand up in front of her mouth, and in an imitation of a certain Sith, she said, “Luke. I am your father. Join me on the Dark side.”
The figure looked like it was thrown, if a robed figure could look like that.
“..eh..”, it cleared it's throat, “This is serious, Daughter.”
Helena rolled her eyes, and in a mocking voice said, “So deadbeat dad comes back, and wants to reconnect with kid, he hasn't seen or even contacted for years. You are so Soap Opera.”
The figure flipped the hood back, and revealed a fang-filled maw, surrounded by small horns, and eyes that shone of evil, “You will obey your father, child.”
She flipped him the finger.
In a whoosh the figure raised a hand, and flipped through reality towards Helena.
The raised hand never connected with Helena's face.
New Hope's Dojo taught a meditative and defensive form of the PRIMUS Hand-to-Hand combat, which included manoeuvres to deal with Super-powered attacks, and Helena had attended that for almost 2 years now, though it hadn't been willing to begin with, but rather that than arts and crafts.
“Ooff”, instead a foot connected with the groin area of Helena's father.
The demon bugled over, clutching a very painful part of his anatomy.
“I am going home”, Helena said, “and if you ever do something like this ...”, she let the sentence die, because she didn't really know what to do.
She took up her cell phone from her pocket. I mean a cell phone works like everywhere, right?
She looked at the signal, and moved the phone around trying to find a signal. By some strange coincident of the multiverse, a certain phone company had recently started covering hell, though the roaming rates were insane. Both in hell and on earth.
Flicking through her emergency numbers, she found New Hope Sheriff's Department.
“Yeah, Hi, it is Helena Goldberg.”
“Yeah, mum is fine, I guess, but I sort of in trouble here.”
Helena's father started to get up, “Put down, the phone, you insolent child”, he said in a pain voice.
“A moment”, Helena said, and kicked him again, “Ooff.”
“Yeah, This perv has sort of kidnapped me, I guess.”
“Well, he brought me somewhere really nasty. With blood and bones and stuff.”
“NO. Ewww.”, she said in a disgusted voice, “He says he is my father.”
“Well, yeah. He could be. He has horns and weird eyes.”
The demon was moaning on the ground, so for good measure, Helena kicked him again.
“Yeah, okay. I will hold, but it better be fast. It is really nasty and it sort of smells like dead donkey”, Helena made a retching sound.
A couple of minutes later where Helena was waiting listening to the Sheriff's Department's on-hold melody went by.
Helena's father used the time to recuperate, eventually he got up, looking rather angry.
A little nervous Helena looked around for something to make sure he stayed down.
Noticing the candles she picked one up and threw it at him. It missed.
“I will torture the humanity out of you, Daughter”, he hissed.
Picking up another candle, Helena once again threw it at him. This time in struck him in the face getting stuck on his horns.
“Ouch. Dammit it all to hell. I am going to whoop you silly”, he said pulling the candle of his horns.
Finally a voice came back on Helena's phone.
“Yeah, make it fast.”
A bright swirl of light appeared around Helena, as she flipped her father the finger, “See you like nev ...”
The demon cursed, “I am going to have my revenge.”
Back in PRIMUS arcane department Helena materialised, “... er.”, she quickly lowered her finger, and gave the surrounding wizards a goofy grin.
