Have you seen the latest trailer? www.swtor.com/media/trailers/taral-v-developer-walkthroughSW:TOR may very well become the standard by which all other MMOs will be compared. Look like there will be a lot more RP there than in any game I've ever played except for KotOR. It looks a lot like KotOR level play in an MMO. My only fears are the cost and that my PC will almost certainly not be able to handle it. I does look great though, doesn't it? ;D

Looks fun. Pitty it's a Bioware game and I am done giving that company money And if they are adding so much depth to content, I fear that there wont be much of it at launch

Is there a specific issue you have with the company or their games? I'm just curious to know what you mean.

I'm just curious to know what you mean. I was very active on the Dragon Age forum and grew to seriously dislike certain people working for that company. Let's just say, some of their devs should spend some time on the CO forum and take lessons from our Devs here on what's a proper and mature way to interact with the playerbase. And while the forum mods were awesome, the community managers were... well, not awesome... This has me extremly worried how customer support will be when it isn't a single player game anymore they are selling. When we are far more likely to need that support. On top of that, I believe they have been seriously dropping in quality. And I believe a lot of the praise nowadays comes because we have gotten used to praising Bioware and are willing to give their games a chance and overlook things which would make us dismiss other games from other developers. If you want more detail, grab me ingame at some point

Personally, my experience with Bioware is limited to KOTOR, although that is one of the best games I have ever played. That is the main reason I'll be trying TOR. Hopefully it wont disappoint

Just found this. www.youtube.com/user/RepublicDefendersTOR?feature=mhum#p/f/7/wmIgf005sxwIt may add to the discussion. Combat and visuals aside (which look grate and will most certainly lag my PC to death), the RP looks more interactive than KotOR. Your own PC replies. IT TALKS! It's no longer just you with a silent PC that chooses questions and comments for verbal replies from NPCs that do all of the talking in the game, but your PC says what you choose. IT SPEAKS! That's a pretty big leap forward from where I sit. I've never played an CRPG that works like that. In an MMO, that's got a be big news, right? Or am I way out of touch?

Oddly enough, thats the one feature I'm not too keen on. Mainly because it forces a voice on your character that you may not feel suits the look you have designed. Its great for story telling, just makes your character less "yours" and more what they want it to sound like.

If Kevin Conroy is, for you, the best voice for Batman, then you want to hear that voice when you read a Batman novel or comic book. For me, any one who has tried to do the Joker since Mark Hamill... Well, it they won't even try and copy him, I cannot get into it. It doesn't feel right. And maybe we get lucky. Maybe ever voice actor they hired read every line for every class. I know, it's very pie in the sky. But that's one of my biggest fears about this game. That this game is SOOOOOOO big and so expensive to make, that I will never be able to afford it. But I'm having fun here, so... ...A long time ago in a galaxy, far, far away... ... can just wait until the price comes down. ;D

A comic book isnt about your character, your ready someone else's story. An MMORPG is about creating your own character and making it about them. Dont get me wrong, I still think TOR will be great. I just dont really like the idea of Bioware deciding what my character sounds like.

I have to say, having played every Bioware game since BG1 way back in the day, I can't help but agree that the last few releases have really been more about money that quality. Something that I never thought I'd see, but I guess being honest is almost inevitable after a company reaches a certain size.
Everyone raved about the Mass Effect games. Annoyingly I wasn't able to play them until fairly recently as there was an issue with my sound hardware which caused them to utterly BSOD this computer upon launch (like Arkham Asylum too, annoyingly, being a sound designer means I have a rather unconventional, albeit expensive, sound set up).
The most recent patches meant I was finally able to try the ME games, and boy was I underwhelmed. :/
Now, the strange thing was that I *adored* the oft-slated Dragon Age 2. Sat down on the day it unlocked and meant to give it 30 minutes. 7 hours later I was like 'oh nuts, have to pick the kids up in a minute'. Fantastic fun, but then upon a second play through (standard fare for earlier Bioware games) I discovered that literally every single 'RP' choice I'd made the first time through, whilst *appearing* to have an effect on the progression of the game actually made no difference whatsoever. It was a horrible let-down to be quite honest and has really jaded me towards Bioware in future.
That said, assuming that SWTOR is free-to-play I will probably give it a go. I can't really see it surpassing CO for me though. At least not from all the preview material I've seen so far, anyway.
The only other MMO I'm *really* interested in is Guild Wars 2. Not because I've played GW1 (I haven't) but because all the stuff I've seen and read about their take on 'open quests' sound extraordinarily interesting as a game mechanic...

If Kevin Conroy is, for you, the best ONLY voice for Batman, then you want to hear that voice when you read a Batman novel or comic book. I have discovered that I subconsciously dub Kevin's voice over all Batman/Bruce Wayne dialog in all formats. Adam West dialog in Kevin's voice is somewhat surreal.
