I never understood why games like that were not on consoles in the 1st place, it's not like the current gen can't handle that kind of games. STO won't even be the most demanding game on the Xbox One and PS4. I think most of these online companies are losing money by neglecting the console market. From my perspective, if the current gen can handle the game, then they should try to port it. Even WOW is not taking advantage of it, which is odd.

... From my perspective, if the current gen can handle the game, then they should try to port it. Even WOW is not taking advantage of it, which is odd. The Current Gen can easily handle WoW from a hardware perspective but the control system would fail horribly. Back when i played i managed to shrink my basic rotation down to 5 buttons using the built in macro system but it took a lot of work and was very personalized, and i still had another 20 buttons for situational spells/items. There is no way it would survive on a console if for the keyboard+mouse elitists alone. A while back i found out a guy i play boardgames with on occasion works at PWI and is a former member of the CO quality control team. He mentioned that they made a ton of money on the Neverwinter port and that it looks like thats why Cryptic has as much freedom as it does to keep CO up and even try to improve on it. One of my favorite things about Cryptic is their willingness to incorporate controller UI, i can play from my couch that way. PWI taking advantage of this to reach out to other markets is a good thing, means more support for CO

I'm no console expert since the last one I owned was the first Xbox, but doesn't the present gen of consoles support mouse and keyboard?

I'm no console expert since the last one I owned was the first Xbox, but doesn't the present gen of consoles support mouse and keyboard? Probably but no interest. Maybe Nintendo, who likes to go in the wrong way, but it seems to be the opposite trend: PC accepting joystick and gamepad to even access the internet.
