Hi guys, just want to share some upcoming content. This is from the Test Server, so it is Subject-To-Change, but gives you some ideas. --- Rocker Archetype and Costume Set --- The new Rocker Archetype uses Heavy Weapons, which now includes electric guitars. There will be a electric guitar weapon choice free-for-all, assuming you have the Devastator Archetype unlocked (and I recall there was the Alienware giveaway that provided that for free). Been playing as a Rocker for a bit now, and it's kinda interesting. It's a Tank (using Defiance, similar to the Behemoth), but has more self-heals, while its offensive moves, like Brimstone and Annihilate, actually remind me a little of how the Unleashed plays. There is a Rocker Costume set that comes from lockboxes, shown above. I left it as Default Colours, so it can look a lot better than what's shown here. Awesome hair, awesome jacket, lots of little accessories like the necklace, belt, boots. Also has facepaint, like KISS. Lots of options to make Space Demons, Goblin Kings, Meat Loaf, etc. IMHO worth getting from the Auction House. More costume pieces to come below, as we head into the... --- Nightmare Invasion (minimal spoilers) --- This is an upcoming event and, yeah, a shining darkness comes to Millennium City. I did not photoshop this image; this is how the zone appears in CO on the test server. The high contrast actually causes a constant sense of unease for me. I know some of our peoples are running the event missions, but I'm still trying to get over the freaky sky. The event seems to build on previous storylines. Whoever wrote some of this, actually has a pretty good grasp of the original Champions lore, in this new story deals with Witchcraft. Someone calls her out on something that those of us that read the original Champions RPG books would know, but I think all CO players will also appreciate it. (It's a small thing, but if you know it, you'll notice it.) There is a new NPC, the Golden Seraph, from Elysium. Cryptic has its own interpretation of it, which I think is cool. Here is their Vehicle, called the Seraph, unlockable from the event: There is a Blackredder version, called the Nightmare: There are more costume unlocks. Featured here are Bat Wings, Wrapped Cloth (bracers), Cross Boots: There are also Valerian Scarlet-esque Long Sleeves. These are actually a form of Gloves: Just sharing some previews from while I was playing with this stuff. I see lots of possibilities.

I never thought I'd say this, but CO content is coming so fast and furious that I'm having trouble keeping up. Rocker AT is pretty good, my favourite of the Tank ATs so far due to its ability to self-heal (which isn't that extravagant a statement, I was a long-time Glacier and Behemoth player, so this is a measured response) and I think the Void AT 2.0 is much better (thanks to it being a better self-healer/team Off-Healer with End changed to Presence). Right now, the new animal skull heads for you: Skull Wolf --- Skull Rat --- Skull Raptor --- Skull Lizard --- Skull Hyena --- Skull Deer --- Skull Crocodile --- Skull Cat --- Skull Bird

The electric guitar axe weapon is finally happening? It is ALL happening! I know what you mean, like we saw the concept art sketches from before CO's Maintenance Mode period. The news gets even better. Unless I'm seriously mistaken, get a Death Metal guitar for free (assuming you can access it with the Devastator AT or a Freeform, etc.) Then there are 2 more from lockboxes, likely a frequent reward, so just get it from the Auction House. And on that note, here are the more recent hard rocking additions. --- New Guitar Solo Ultimate Power (under Heavy Weapons) A quick note on this power. It's a Point Blank Area Of Effect Attack, has a guitar sound effect, notes coming out, then your character throws The Horns and everybody gets knocked back. I am not making any of this up. --- Hard Rock Glider This is a Vehicle, NOT a Travel Power. Notice the speakers attached to it, we'll get to those very shortly. --- Glam Rock Glider The Pink version, kinda like how there were those Pink cars before. --- New Vehicle Weapon (sorry I can't remember what it's called, but comes with both Gliders) Your character, standing on top of the Glider, will actually turn to face your targets and scream at them. The speakers on the Gliders will turn the sound up to 11 as a Sonic Blast. Not very powerful, but still very awesome. --- Rock Crystal Aura Another event vendor reward in exchange for tokens, you get these floating, bobbing crystals that just hover bend your back. Imagine you have these shards that are just waiting to stab you. If you lean forward, they'll tilt. I'm not huge into them precisely because I fear they'll stab me, but are very useful for certain elemental-themed toons, I'd imagine.

Well, new costumes and vehicles do look promising. That's good.
A reason to play it even if Cryptic literally can't sod off from recycling high fantasy stuff.
I suppose CO developers secretly want to be reassigned to Neverwinter.

The problem i see is it cant be easily farmed with tematic builds and so so gear like Foxbat Con. Or you take it good and laugh or you'll stress yourself out. I say Heroic gear + rank 7 mods are the minimum requirement and I still was in the respawn point more often than an old guild pvp event

Constant death when solo is expected. Getting a couple people (3-5) helps a lot. Saw a few people using vehicles so that might be an option for under powered builds

For the Nightmare Colossus, I think you need to be in a large group, like with the other Event Cosmic Bosses like Terence the Bear and Takofanes, sheerly because of the time limit.
Xstorm was in his optimised Chariot Vehicle, I was fighting on foot as ARNIE, he was 1st and I was 2nd (but also arrived later), so both options are totally viable. And that WAS with me in Justice Gear and Rank 5+ mods.
With the portals, it's pretty annoying with the Knock To/Crowd Control effects, but I solo'd it a few times by luring the spawning monsters into an alleyway. It was like the comic/film 300, lol, lining them up with 2GM. Was fun times, but again that WAS with Justice Gear and Rank 5+ mods. Maybe the Void AT could solo that as well, thanks to both AoEs and self-heals, but I anticipate most ATs will have a problem soloing those.

I spent most of my day trying to do this event on various ATs
Savage-no problems if played smart Unleashed-ditto Behemoth-death unlikely but slow going Mind-could tank everything without trouble but took too long alone, bring a dps friend Specialist-use alleys Blade-alleys and suicide kill portals Inferno-from max range above i killed portals then mopped up mobs, too squishy solo Tempest-see Inferno Automaton- find a few friends
one thing i found useful was flying near a portal group on a roof, backing away till the big respawning mobs jump down and/or despawn then going back and killing the remaining mobs that don't respawn 1-2 at a time, backing out again if/when the melee things respawn.

I'm glad to stand corrected on this one, outstanding work, and also a great short post to summarise. Thx for that, perfect.
I also think the most dangerous time is in the opening moment when it's very possible to get stun-locked by the Knock and Crowd Control attacks. Even if it's just 1 enemy that does it, he'll likely pull you into range of the others, a chain reaction. Once that's over, the enemies kinda run out of steam I -feel-. They also do drop a lot of orbs after they die.
Those Shadow Colossus though...there are definitely strategies and roles & responsibilities (someone to tank it, some people to counter the healing beacons, others to DPS), but it looks like it's just easier to shout in Zone and mob one to death by sheer numbers. This becomes the go-to plan because I think people who deal with healing beacons don't get credit in practice, so they're disincentivised to do that anymore. Not sure, worth re-checking in the field, to voice out in the PTS section if that's the case.

Update from today's farming. A little while back i got a free chariot vehicle with a tractor beam weapon. This is great for soloing/duoing the portals on roof tops because you can drag the majority of the mobs off the roof then swoop in and kill the portal/remaining few enemies. Also servers as a great distraction while your partner focuses the portals.
4 types of enemies at portals. Portal that summons adds, Purple guys that summon adds, Female Things that knock/snare/root, and summoned adds, the largest of which is knock/control resistant and AOE pulls. Big guy is lowest priority as it has a huge HP pool and respawns quickly.
So far the quickest strategy was to find a partner and hang out near Harmon labs door Farming and swapping characters. There are 3 portals and 2 siphons within spitting distance of the respawn point and a colossus not far off. Our strat was to continuously invite new people into the team and kill everything, skipping colossus missions because thats something you can chase down alone. We would tell each other when we where swapping and come back with a fresh character and rejoin the group. Took only a few minutes each time. With 6-7 instances of MC open this could be a universal grinding spot for anyone unable or unwilling to try it alone.

So I been soloing the Dailies as well, on 3 toons, just to compare & contrast different playstyles. 1. The Freeform - took my tried & tested build, ARNIE, still usually a/the top scorer in Open Missions. Does ok, takes time, can get KO'd if I'm sloppy, which happens 'cos it's a long grind. 2. The Soldier AT - uses the Sniper Rifle on the portals and ignore the enemies, then just does the rest of the stuff carefully, taking out the small mobs for the Dailies. Actually safer! 3. The Vehicle - I used a Train, a Mark II Vehicle, with Biosteel 6s and Incendiary Rounds. I just drop those Damage Over Time Incendiary effects, let them burn. Very fast, very safe. So far the quickest strategy was to find a partner and hang out near Harmon labs door Farming and swapping characters. I've been doing it in the Westside, but this does certainly sound faster, thanks for that.

My experience with the event seems a lot more hard for me than to you guys. My alts are geared with Heroics and rank 5 mods and blue/green secondaries, and while it is possible to solo portals (not the worns, thoses are easy) if really carefull, I do not think it's worth the time spend. So I just farmed the portals only with my main toon geared with Heroic, rank 7 mods and purple secondaries. At start of the event the mobs in portals used to disable the travel powers and chain CC/knocks and these attacks didn't trigger the CC defense on our toon, making even tanks bouncing like a shuttlecock. A week later the update made the mobs no longer remove the travel power and their attack finally start triggering the CC/knock defense but what i have noted this weekend the CC/knock chain from mobs returned; even with 3 stack I was CC/knock freely by them. Vehicles: I not sure how you guys manage portals with vehicles , got a Hawk MK2 with rank 6 mods and get grounded all time and burned before able to fly away and my incendiary round cant burn the mobs fast enough. Sniper Rifle: My strategy was sniping from 120 ft and fly away, how it ended: snipe the portal and move away, the big guy start charging and... bang dead . He just teleport me at his feet along his friends from 200 ft. Maybe it is connection related, ping, lag, whatever but still not sure if it happen for you guys or how you manage with sniper rifle. The Collossus - typical tank and spank open boss mission but upgraded with devs mentality: aka need THE tank and healer. Wait for about 20-30 players to start. If there are not tank available, he keep changing targets teleporting very fast, making DPSing him hard. Here I noticed something I'd like to share: I was in a team and the whole group was without tank and even I had not attacked him because was focused on mobs at heal nod, he come at me like crazy and attacked me until I was dead. When I came back it happened again. I heard someone say in open chat that Presence is generating threat and apparently it is true; my presence is 102 with AoPM. His attack disable travel powers and is not hard for him to hit for +10K damage through block. Another thing: mobs at healing nod count as mission score; I top scored few times just farming the nodes, since the mobs have a lot less defense a thus making your hits higher.
