Thx for the heads up Criswolf, brought my attention back to CO. I was just leveling an AT and found it a little limiting due to the lack of an energy unlock. They've FIXED that with a choice of 2, including a Melee-based one, so you can choose to focus on Melee or Ranged. Very interesting, these are new dynamics, it'll take a few weeks before anyone can reasonably say "I found the best new Specialist build". This video is useful for both existing and new Specialist players alike: My bigger concern is how 2 Gun Mojo, the go-to DPS power, has been affected. I'm seriously like, "wot do". This impacts both my best builds as well as my Specialist AT.

Grabbed it.
CO is quickly becoming the game I collect stuff in and then never use it lol. I have so much free stuff now but I just never seem to log in and play with it. /shrug

This update buffed the Specialist significantly, not to mention that probably no other AT has now so many choices in regard to how you want to set it up. 2GM adjustments don't affect this AT very much. DPS isn't much lower, and now 2GM works with its AoE-related specialisations and of course it works with the energy unlock. You can now spam 2GM again and again on this AT. Previously with its energy issues it wasn't possible without heavily investing in gear.

You can now spam 2GM again and again on this AT. Previously with its energy issues it wasn't possible without heavily investing in gear. I've been hearing the same in-game, but I wasn't sure until you confirmed it. From what I can tell so far, the major issue with Two Gun Mojo right now isn't the damage decrease, it's the energy cost increase, to a point where the Energy Unlock can't kick in. Then I heard somebody mention it was funny how the Specialist AT was having no problems while his "Freeform Specialist" (you know, when you had a character as an AT, then you subbed and converted it to a FF but stayed true to character) couldn't sustain 2GM. I heard the same from people who had FFs that were close to the Specialist, like those that had 2GM with Killer Instinct, etc. I'm almost wondering if the AT was deliberately adjusted to have a more energy-efficient 2GM. It's not the 1st time, we've always know ATs at level 40 do more damage than a FF with the exact same setup due to diminishing returns on its stats, etc.

They'd have to build their toons similar same way with primary Dex and same specialisations the Specialist has for crits, or find other ways of boosting their critical chance, since how much energy you can get back from the Killer Instinct depends only from how often you can crit. ATs aren't bugged with their energy return. The math is the same as for FFs in this aspect. The Soldier has the same with the Assault Rifle - just because it's a maintain and it can crit with every tick, the AT never runs out of energy with same EU as the Specialist. The Specialist now has two maintains to benefit from the Killer Instinct - Lead Tempest also works with it.

That makes a lot more sense, about it's the way Specialists are forced into Primary Dex and there's no bug nor tweaking with the AT's energy return.
Your using the Soldier as the other example is perfect. My Soldier is the other character I go to when I go for all-out DPS.
I'll have to test it myself, but atm, aside from seeing your logic, I also see hope. I had to console a lot of people on this change.
I'm going from a Ego/Con/Int + MSA build to maybe a Ego/Con/Dex + Killer Instinct build. I honestly think it's actually possible my DPS will go up, but my survivability will go a little bit down due to longer cooldowns.

Great, now i have to figure out how to free up a character slot so i can use it, or i could just build it with the free freeform slot they gave out that i haven't used.
Is anyone else thinking that this Revamp is because of the Deadpool movie? I'm curious if the recent resurgence in Superhero movies will mean more revamps and stuff for CO since it will spark a little interest in the game. I wonder what we will get for Civil War.

It's obvious that the AT was given a complete makeover because of the Deadpool movie. AT is free only for one week, then it's back to being a paid one.
But I think this revamp was also caused by a long time coming adjustments to 2GM, and the Specialist had to be adjusted anyway because this is its main power (well, for most AT players at least, I'm more of a Lead Tempest spammer).
