I have learnt that Archers are stupidly easy to play if you have even half a brain cell. But idk, I mostly play alone since I can only play the EU version and everyone from here and all my other friends are on the NA servers. And it's getting a little boring for me now (barely 20..). I play Guild Wars 2 mostly alone as well, but somehow, I found the solo experience in GW2 way more entertaining than the solo experience in TERA. So does the solo experience in TERA get better later, or am I going to get bored quickly? I also tried to find a guild going by the rule of the guild name (ye who tryeth to sound badass, shall disappointeth). Mostly the ones recruiting are the ones spamming world chat, and they all fail the test of the guild name. We have Hand of God and Undying Justice and Devil's Advocates etc, and just their intro in the world chat puts me off from joining. Before F2P I would not have thought it was a great idea to try to proxy your way to NA because I thought you'd be entirely cutoff from items you might somehow want from the cashshop. However, pretty much anything in the cash shop is obtainable in game via Broker (by this I mean extra character/inventory slots, buffs, cosmetics, anything.) You won't be able to transfer your existing EU characters but ... you could give proxying a shot. After all many people in NA went as far as getting fake Korean social security numbers to play the Korean client so I dunno. *** If you do decide to reroll on NA servers and are able to do so, send me a tell. I have a 7 day +100% XP buff to make the restarting less painful.

Cool, thanks for the blocking tips. Finally remember it's better to cancel an attack and block than finish the attack and eat a mace to the face. While healing the low levels I often found warriors and lancers that would just continue their attack so they could squeeze one fast animated Spring Attack and eat a massive hit and bleed because they couldn't squeeze in the block. It's better to cancel and block that big hit. This is where I'm having the problem. I see the attack coming and press and hold my block button to cancel my attack...and nothing happens. My attack gets cancelled but I don't block. My lancer just stands there and eats the attack right in her face. It's rather frustrating. Edit: And yeah, it's not that my resolve is empty. I tend to try to time my blocks appropriately and not just turtle. It's just that nothing happens quite often despite having full resolve.

Starships are SOOO two years ago. Nowadays it's about his Drow spider. ;D But getting back to the block issue. It really does sound like the mouse interface issue I had before November. 1) Try remapping your block to a button in the keyboard and see if that changes anything. 2) Recheck all your peripheral drivers are up to date. 3) Some people prefer playing with a controller, I'm not one of them. if you have controller skills see if that fits your better. 4) What Ping are you playing with? I normally play with about 120 which many people would consider super high but I find no problems with it at all. Past 180 I can start feeling it.

It's an omen, and it's saying get back to your starship. Pfff, I'm in my starship every day yo. Just got Omega T4 for the insane torpedo launcher. It's so OP lol. For the block thing, I've been playing with a 360 controller. I tried the keyboard and hated it. I'll see if remapping helps it. Not sure on ping either, I'll have to check it out next time I'm on.

LanteshI tried that a while back before they went F2P. If you go to the "blocking IP's by region" link at the bottom of that page, you'll see that EME is blocking Asian, African and Middle Eastern IP's by default. Apparently, for EME, all asians are scumbag gold farmers DejahThanks for the tip haha, but by proxying, I'd basically be losing around half my bandwidth before I even actually log on to the servers. And playing a game like Tera at anything above 150ms is a *censored*. Looks like I'm screwed, at least for now. Maybe in the future, EME will stop blocking all asian IP's. One can hope.

BTW, if anyone is interested in adding me as a friend I'm always up for having someone to do missions with. I'm in Ascension Valley and my IGNs(so far... ): Abernathy (46-S), Heliry (7-L), Ashleria (16-Z)

I'm in Ascension Valley and my IGNs(so far... ): Abernathy (46-S), Heliry (7-L), Ashleria (16-Z) >.< It's funny because when F2P was launched I thought I was going to fresh re-roll one character in Ascension Valley and one in Lake of Tears, and I did for a couple of levels BUT . . . the Elite benefits of extra questing gold and reputation boost along with the new reputation factions that were introduced made me kinda recommit to my high level toons in TR and MT which I was easing out of. Which brings me to this update because of this blurb someone linked: "“[Tera has] significantly higher subscribers on the Elite tier than when it had a mandatory subscription.” venturebeat.com/2013/03/20/tera-mmo-has-more-subscribers-as-a-free-to-play-game-than-when-it-required-a-subscription/#2GZcQ6x2tKjQIQ16.99I think that's pretty cool because I think more F2P implementations could be like that. Every game makes its own F2P rules and even now CO has Freeform behind a paywall (IMO at this point and for CO its nearly a necessity. CO is the first and only game I've put a Lifetime membership for and although now I don't really care I'm sure back when it was first implemented it would have decimated the game if Golds or Lifers were not given a meaningful bonus.) I was pretty sure I was going to discontinue "Elite" from TERA once the months I had bought with scrolls wore and just roll with my Founders benefits and the occasional shop purchase but I'm surprised I might actually fork $15/mo for the perks if they don't re-institute chronoscrolls by May.

So I haven't been playing lately and I think it's because I've gotten bored with Lancer. I think it's the lack of mobility and pretty much me just standing there smashing everything to little bits. It was fun at first, but now I don't even log on. So I'm thinking a change in class is needed. I'm looking at either Warrior or Slayer. I've been reading up on the main forums about them, but I can't decide. Anyone mind giving me some details about your experiences with either of those classes?
Also probably going to roll an Aman female. Someone on the forums described them as "Dragon Klingons" and now I want.
Edit: Also Ascension Valley is full of idiots. Is Tempest Reach any better? If so I'll probably re-roll on that server. I couldn't even get anyone to help kill BAMs on AV.

My main is a Slayer and I've had loads of fun with it. A slayer's combat moves are medium to slow speed but they hit like a truck and can dish out respectable AoE melee damage. They can dodge with gives them a lot more maneuverability than a 'Zerker or Lancer, which you'll need when taking on BAMs.
If you like overcomp..er I mean swinging a massive sword and watching things fall down en masse then you might like a Slayer.
My experience with Warriors is limited, mine hasn't even made it off the starter island while my Slayer just hit 37 a few minutes ago.

To give the Warrior perspective: A Warrior can do good DPS, but has to set it up, and work for it significantly more than a comparable class. It can tank - but the tank style is very different from the "traditional" concept of MMO tank so it takes practice. I ended up playing the warrior simply because to me it was really fun to play. Not because of the big numbers. Kept me very engaged at all times. Felt the freedom to move or react at near on demand.
A warrior before level 60 (when we get a move called "Scythe") can be described as death by a thousand cuts because it strikes very very fast but (compared to any other melee) for smaller numbers. The upshot is very good survivability - many active attack moves come accompanied by "incoming damage is reduced by 20, 30 or 50%" depending on which skill - this encourages very aggressive play. Dodges are not on CD but they have a limited resource (Resolve).
You set up very a very critical debuff that increases everyone's damage called traverse cut, and once you acquire "Scythe" and can set those up with maximum "Edge" (which is a warrior specific combo resource) you can see incredible numbers. But then a Slayer, Zerker or Sorcerer doesn't have to set everything up . . . they have setups and certain opportune combos or moves setup by Glyphs, but not to the degree the warrior has.
The Slayer will give you big giggly numbers AND you also have a lot of knockoffs and knockdowns, so there's also the giggity of manhandling your opponents. Mobility is good as well. Nothing like a warrior but decent enough.
O yeah, about TR - if it's for PvE I recommend it, particularly since the rush is over. The economy is more established than the newer servers so more stuff will be available and at better prices. MT still has a better economy (IMO) but it's free for all PvP.
If it's a "relatively" more mature community you'd prefer CH is fine too.
Finally turn off the Global chat channel. I do keep it up but only because to me it's like having Howard Stern on the radio on the way to work. Every once in a while something amusing will pop up so I'm not fazed.

So I played around with both Warrior and Slayer for a little while. I can't tell you why, but I just wasn't feeling Slayer. It had the mobility and large numbers going on...but I just couldn't get into it for some reason. No idea why. Warrior was pretty cool too but same thing happened. I just couldn't get into it. I gave both of them a fair shot all the way through the Isle of Dawn but just wasn't feeling either of them.
So I actually went ahead and tried out every single class lol. I eventually settled on Berserker. I know that it's pretty much the opposite of what I said I was looking for earlier but I'm just really feelin' it. It also fits very well conceptually with my Aman. She just looks like a killer lol.
Also rolled up on Tempest Reach and OMG the community there is SO MUCH BETTER. WTF it's like I'm not even playing the same game as I was on Ascension Valley. I kept my Lancer so I'm going to transfer her over there ASAP. TR is the way to go.

And yeah I think the Aman was a great idea, they look great for "heavy weapon type" classes since their poses and animations hold everything with strength and control on male and female. I forgot to mention that last time. I was surprised to see you go for zerker but in retrospect I did something similar. When I started the game to me Sorcerers and Zerkers felt "slow" or "locked" and I levels other classes before I revisited them. At the end I ended up making my main the Sorc. (The Warrior I play when I'm in "anonymous"/solo mode and want to play solo, PvP or not deal with G-talk) At later levels when you practice certain moves and learn to glyph all classes can be pretty fluid. I'm gonna link you a vid I used to learn the "Nightmare" mode of Meldita - a pretty tough execution type endgame boss at 60. I chose the video because the guy was using a wide angle view out of his video card settings but I noticed the guy (all 3 players in the video really) was a real ninja and he's playing a Berserker. At level 60 you can see how fluid and responsive his moves are (watch his spot on dives through the "lazer" - unfortunately that's a skill you get at 60 =P). If you can find how he glyphed from his youtube channel I'd recommend it.

I haven't played in a while (STO has my soul atm) but I played on a few of the PVE servers. For those, community wise they're about the same now. Both Tempest Reach and Ascension Valley are really bad in the global/zone chat area. Tempest was better for a while there, but then went back downhill fast. Anyways it's best to just turn off the global/zone.
For PVE Tempest is the developed server. Ascension is the newer server, but I don't know how developed it is right now since I haven't been on it in about a month. PVP I have no idea. If you like RP there's only one server for that so I guess that isn't a major issue lol.
