The official forum has had several posts lately warning about scams and how to avoid them, I've copied them in here in the hope the message gets across.

How they do it:
Step 1) Open trade window.
Step 2) Place your item.
Step 3) Wait for the mark to place their item.
[if the mark pressed Accept right after placing their item, you have found someone in a hurry to sell, meaning they are more or less guarenteed to fall for the scam]
Step 4) Once they do, close the trade window.
Step 5) Open trade window.
Step 6) Place your item.
Step 7) Immidietly remove your item.
Step 8) Wait for the mark to place their item and hastily hit Accept.
[Due to even a small bit of lag, your item being removed doesn't show right away. In fact, it will appear as still in the trade window just long enough for them to place their item and hit Accept)
Step 9) Hit Accept.
Step 10) Logout.
HOW TO COUNTER:
NEVER HIT ACCEPT RIGHT AWAY. Place your item and wait at least a full 10 seconds and see what happens ( I recommend you not make it 10 seconds exactly; just wait a bit is what I'm saying)
IF you see steps 1 through 4 being enacted (i.e. trade window suddenly closes after both items placed). this should set off warning flags. Consider simply putting this person on ignore and finding another buyer/seller.
IF at any point you see them remove their item after you have placed yours, this is a big red flag. Move on.
After a few seconds, if nothing suspicious happens, press Accept. If they try to remove the item now, it will cause you to un-accept automatically.
Don't trust anyone that you don't know well.
Better to wait 20 seconds to avoid being scammed than to have to put all that time into farming your G or item again.

Please don't trust trade gold for C-Store point exchanges...

I thought I would create this topic to help raise community awareness, as we have a had a lot of these types of scams and stories of woe going on MC Zone chat in the past week...
Statements of the (what should be) obvious / Common sense that's being forgotten:
Of course this should all go without saying, but seeing as these types of scams are occurring daily lately with multiple successful scams going on regularly, I guess it's not common sense for some.
Please be careful out there, there are a few bad apples out there who for whatever reason have no reservations about scamming gullible people like this. (Note: I'm not saying don't trade on Zone chat, I'm saying don't listen when C-Store points are being discussed as a unit of trade currency) Hopefully creating this topic can help prevent a few of these cases from occurring.
FYI: g = gold = globals = 100x100 of copper/locals = unit of in-game currency
Statements of the (what should be) obvious / Common sense that's being forgotten:
- If a deal sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.
- Don't expect Cryptic reimburse you for being foolish & gullible... You have to watch out for yourself on this kind of thing.
- The majority of the time if somebody is offering to exchange C-Store points for Gold (especially when they insist you put the gold upfront), it's scam.
- The Auction House is there for a reason. Get items you want in exchange for a known amount of gold, even C-Store items.
- If you want C-Store points, buy them yourself as you would any other online purchase.

Another thing to watch out for is gold selling websites, fortunately something we don't suffer too much from here but it's worth a warning about anyway.
Someone spammed the free forums with an ad that was not only all sorts of wrong BUT the prices were also far more expensive than just buying become devices and selling them in the AH. That's being scammed on top of being scammed on top of supporting whatever illegal activities the gold sellers are involved in (which may or may not also involve hacking & looting accounts or selling your personal details including your credit card info and let's not think about the possibility that the funds are being used for crimes involving drugs, guns or prostitution)
Globals are easy enough to come by in this game without needing to support gold sellers.
Need money that badly? Then sell C-Store items in the AH or try farming Blood Moon heroes to sell the the device drops, Serpent Lantern or Aftershock for Elite scaled blue gear or farming other areas of Resistance for globals or Dark Speed.
Same goes for websites offering Powerlevelling, you level fast enough here anyway (max level's been hit in under 6 hours playtime), you'd be giving over your accounts details to unscrupulous strangers, do you really think that they aren't gonna raid anything they might find useful, your gear, your globals, your email address & personal details, do you really think you'll get your account back either?
