The Djinn Device. What do you guys think of it? Is it any good in-game? How's it different to the existing Become Devices?

Its completely different from the other devices as it has Zero healing ability (Destroid Commander is a travel device imo). i used it a bit on my Blade and realized the lack of healing so i swapped it to my lowbie Mind and went into Resistance on elite. It was tons of fun.
Its a AoE dmg dealer with mostly melee elemental dmg, a single target crowd control, a pet, and a passive party buff.
Overall its great for Support toons looking to get some dmg in when not healbotting. Kinda useless when paired with an Avenger/Brawler AT because it fills the DPS role.
Solo PvE: As i said i soloed Elite Resistance on my Mind, even soloed 1st phase on last boss in a 3 man group (i apparently suck at healing). Scimitar of the Storm is a fire version of Eye of the Storm, a stationary Melee range AoE with a dmg shield this gives it a fair amount of survivability. i'd recommend the opposite strategy from other devices, use this one for combat then swap out to heal yourself.
PvP(duels): Its fun to challenge people as a Mind then tear them up in melee.
On a side note i really like activating it, hitting Scimitar of the Storm, then canceling it; the blades persist for a few moments and my toon looks like kratos, gonna have to change his costume since i don't like clones but its still kinda cool.

Thanks for the insight. Really appreciated the points on how it complements a Support toon, the field-testing experiences, and even the ideas on using the Scimitar of the Storm animations.
I'm still thinking about the character themes/RP to go with it.

i was thinking of pairing it with a grim as a sorcerer that can conjure a Djinn spirit to posses him. Still working out a costume, without the Arabian set its hard to match things up well.
