Is there any way, while in-game, to earn some A Tokens? Or is the only way to attain any through a sub stipen/C-store? Thank you

There was some talk about earning 80 through completing the tutorial. As I no longer play the game I can't confirm that, but it was the only in-game way ever mentioned. So unless you can get them that way, the only way is to purchase them through the store or earn them through stipend.

I appreciate the quick reply and the info. If anyone else has some input on this, would be greatly appreciated. I know their end goal is to simply get money out of us, would be nice to apply some way of earning some through like dailies or something for those who are dedicated enough to play as only silver. What cryptic needs to realize is that even if they don't get money out of some of us, silver players are doing their part in helping keep the game alive with players. They just don't need to make it so obvious that all they want are the bengies, if they take care of their player base it would do nothing but help them in the long run. I'm sure they lose players daily simply because some aspects of CO may make a player feel as though they need to spend real money to get anywhere in the game. And no'one likes to hit a definite wall that says "hey, sure you got some cool stuff, but you see this... something you'll never have unless you throw us some green". Make it fun and appealing and people will naturally want to invest in a game with a future. I have high hopes for this game, waiting on this DL which is going horribly slow now, guessing it's because of the weekend warriors, no biggy, I'm patient. So I've been trying to brush up on what I can learn outside the game. Hmm, yea my apologies for the lengthy post, but, other threads on this topic have got me thinking. I can see where the "freeform" archetypes open the window of exploitation, for those who really know what abilities are the real PvP beasts probably make life hard on those who don't have the luxury of "specing" for optimum ownage. But, such is the case when you allow players to manipulate their character to this level of customization. Anyone who has played Rift got a good taste of this >.< Honestly though, any game is doomed to fail eventually if all the developers care about is money. Genuine care for the players keeping their game alive is the way to win. Even so, I can't wait to play, who doesn't want to make their own super hero!? City of Heroes almost nailed it, but that's a whole different animal

Its f2p but they have to make money they are a for-profit company that hit on the right formulae IMHO offer an excellent free base product and offer players that opt to spend money to get more things either piecemeal or as Gold members.
Come on with specials the money you spend can go pretty far and the free costume options and such do tend to go along well. And add in in-game costume unlocks and the little gimmes like if you waited one adventure pack was free for a weekend and with the 80 AC you got for the tutorial you could by the Demonflame one when that was on uber special.
You can have lots of fun for free I love the game an opted to spend money on it buying three AT's and the like mostly when they had specials. But you don't have to at all and can have fun.

Did the tutorial once or twice to confirm this, but I checked and never got the points. Apparently it's just for the very first time you complete it.

I did the tut again last week and got the email about the 80 tokens. But I haven't yet confirmed that they've gone into my account. I'll do that and post my findings

I can confirm that you get at least 80 tokens for running the tutorial as I got mine when I ran Burnout through the tutorial. I did notice a new free item pop up in the C-Store recently though 'Respect of the Champions' or something like that which is an experience boost. My two mains aren't eligible for it though I have yet to try my newer heroes. I'm kind of guessing that's the new tutorial bonus.
I'll know more soon as I'm planning on running the tutorial again tonight.

The trigger is, you must complete everything in the tut, that means all the perks, (climbing on the crashed ship in the beggining and killing 100 Qularr, which both can be easily missed) and doing all the missions (even the exploration ones, the event ones and the item ones) which a few of those are easily missed as well. The wiki has info on the tut if you need to find a perk or a mission. www.champions-online-wiki.com/wiki/Millennium_City_Tutorial

I appreciate the quick reply and the info. If anyone else has some input on this, would be greatly appreciated. You can buy time cards for 5 bucks online, from a few sources, and at best buy in the boxed games, if you can find any. Plus, cheap gold. Stockpile if you can find em, can't argue with 3 months for 15 bucks. I just noticed that they have atari point cards available on the site, so I'm personally gonna start giving them out in costume contests as prizes. Let's see who follows suit. Yup. Economics, etc... Nope. Bandwith, etc... Not to mention the trolling that happens because of f2p driving off potential subscribers who like to, for example, rp. Fact is someone has to pay for your bandwidth. If you're not buying atari points, it's not you. Costumes and shiny things are not needed to get anywhere in game. The only thing you don't have the chance to buy are freeform slots, and they're not needed in raids. It's pretty well known that you don't need to be freeform to be effective. The field director of S.P.E.A.R. is silver, and a handy person to have on a raid. Knowing the fights and your place is far superior to having access to more powers. You can't buy experience. I translate this to "they're losing people who don't pay a penny for a free game because they aren't given enough free stuff" in my mind. And nothing of value was lost. I feel like I've said something about the comic series and death of the AP enough to not have to repeat it. As for the "game with a future" bit? I'm going lifetime soon, from gold, because of how much they're doing to improve the game and expand the player base. They're already doing stuff it's taken other mmos forever, if ever, to consider. Quick, name me 5 mmos that have persistent player housing that includes character-wide banking. Wow's king of the pile, and you have to pay 25 bucks to change servers *so you can play with your friends*. You gotta pay money to buy the game, *then pay for a sub to play it*. I fully disagree with that, mmos are skinner box experiments where they try to hook people and bleed them for as much cash as possible. At least champions does so in a less grindy and more amusing way. As for "caring about the players that keep it alive"? Sad fact, but true: people who don't spend money don't keep the game alive. Not that I dislike silvers who don't pay money, or think they have no place, but to think that by just showing up you're helping? If you were trying to move out of your apartment, and said "I've got 30 bucks to toss in for pizza for everyone who helps me move. Eat as much pizza as you want, and you only have to move as much furniture as you wish" how much is the dude that eats 2 pieces and won't even carry a lamp to your car really helping you? Saying they don't care about their customers is like that guy eating the pizza while complaining that it's not pepperoni and he didn't give you a soda. Saying this will ruin the game is like saying his friends will all hate him because he took them all out to the bar afterwards, and didn't bring the one who just sat around eating his pizza. Not trying to troll or anything, but I came over here after the forums dropped tonight hoping to offer a few tips on how to earn or buy some points on the cheap. Every topic I've opened that sounded like that might be the case has ended up being "and cryptic sucks and will die for not giving me a pony". With all of that said? FFS, the kitchen sink costume pack should go free. It's ancient, and afaik it is made up of some stuff that used to be free. The themed costume stuff should be gold or paid only, but a random pack of stuff? It's pretty arbitrary and wouldn't hurt to give out. It's a global costume set, with all generic stuff with no theme. That'd be awesome pr, and should have happened with the new steam push. Bag slots? a free one at 30 would be great. Wouldn't hurt golds at all, and it's not like lots of silvers have probably bought all 4. Costume slots? give an extra at 40. Golds get a lot more. bank tabs? allow one to be bought with globals. You've already got options for free item storage like mailing things to yourself. Acknowledge the fact that it's possible and free up the mail system that's tied to the forum. The global cap? Up it. Hell, remove it. Silvers can still buy resistance and get darkspeed. They can farm therakiel and get neph wings. Let them keep the globals they rightfully earned without a limit. That's the kind of "keep them around by offering perks" the game should be focusing on. A silver veteran program unlocked by playing and maybe spending money on atari points that utilized this system would be a serious benefit, and keep people playing and being productive. Not to mention the great boost it would offer to the in game economy. t-wings would probably drop to a lot more reasonable levels if silvers knew they could sell them and not have to dump all of their globals to make it worth it. Same with all of the rest of the VB drops. A sale on silver utilities would also be kinda neat. 20% off the stuff silvers need to level the non-combat playing field? That'd be a good step. As would a 5 dollar purchase to remove the global cap.

Well, LoTRO has achievement system that gives the player a few tokens (10,15) with every achievement. Mind you, it's not freebies like CO Perks, though.

Agreed with all of this 100 percent, especially about Cryptic dropping the ball by not letting the "variety pack" be made a freebie. F2P is awesome, but if nothing about it everchanges unless it stops being free (by which I mean the player needing to buy things), then it easily grows stagnant, no matter how much content is originally there. Silvers who are unable/unwilling to pay deserve at least a few metaphorical table-scraps tossed our way to hold interest.
