This morning I entered a mission instance, with my difficulty set on hard. All enemies spawned with the dangerous buff. So far so good. But after killing one group I decided that I wanted to try very hard. So I left the instance, and changed my difficulty. Came back in, enemies still have dangerous buff, not the lethal they should have. So I drop the mission, check that my difficulty is set to Very Hard, retake the mission, go back in, people are still dangerous! What gives? I didn't see lethal enemies until my next mission. Is this a known issue? Should I report it? Or are we not supposed to change the difficulty of a mission once we start it?

Or are we not supposed to change the difficulty of a mission once we start it? This is a long standing issue and I haven't seen a dev response one way or another (though there may have been one). In general, if you pick a difficulty and start a mission and want to change it the game is finicky about letting you change it. This especially sucks when running something like Serpent Lantern and this issue hits (sometimes this happens, sometimes it hasn't). 1) Want to do SL on Very Hard 2) Accidentally start on Hard 3) Leave instance, change difficulty, re-enter 4) Still set to Hard 5) Leave Until HQ, change difficulty, re-enter 5) Still set to Hard 6) Drop SL mission, try to pick it back up.... .... ... .. . Can't because of the cooldown even though you never did the misison. Rage

Did you wait 5-10 minutes for the instance to reset? If not then you are entering the same instance as before with all the same mobs with the same buffs still on them.
For SL and the other adventure packs, leaving the instance means getting all the way out of the pack. Not just out of Bunker Alpha, but all the way back to UNTIL HQ in order to reset the entire instance. Of course, the difficulty slider function SHOULD be greyed out while you are in SL since you are not supposed to be able to change your difficulty setting while in an instance affected by that setting, but, things have bugged out before so...

That's insane that I'd need to *insert rant about instance scaling in CoH*. I guess if this happens again I can skip that mission for a bit then come back to it. Awesomesauce What you described seems to be what Kenpo did, without results tho
