How many servers did they have per region before this? Reading between the lines there it sounds like they don't have enough players on individual servers to fill queues for the pvp instances quickly. The way I read it: Hi! We are hemoraging subscriptions so we are going to move everybody in a region onto the same server so that there will be enough people on those servers fill the instance queues in a timely manner."

Exactly, Gale: "spin-doctoring a server consolidation".

Went to follow the link and this came up
"We have had to take the SOE service down temporarily. In the course of our investigation into the intrusion into our systems we have discovered an issue that warrants enough concern for us to take the service down effective immediately. We will provide an update later today (Monday)."
Did SOE get hacked like PSN???

For just one example: I love strategy games ... but she is extremely conflict-averse. I have a very cool boardgame that is for 1-6 people and is co-op. The players team up against the board, and it works really well. I can't think of the name offhand (big meds day) but I will rty to remember to look at it when I get home. I married a gamer girl, but after childbirth, she changed drastically and now I fly solo for my gaming yayas. Errr, no, that's not a euphemism . . . .

Could be - they said it was untouched, but I thinhk the attack happened on the physical server's location, so it could be they somehow got into the SOE data through some sort of network Sony may have had set up. At least, that's my crazy "sounds like it should be in a movie" theory. I like the compensation they're offering, though. I'll post it in the PSN-specific thread.
