Marty sat back in his chair and rubbed his eyes, ready for his shift to come to an end. It had been a slow day on monitor duty.
He looked back to the bank of monitors linked to a network of hidden cameras and sensors scattered across Millenium City. Project Overwatch had been in place for just a few weeks but the world beyond those screens had become routine for him already. The same petty thugs and gang members going about their routine with the same cast of costumed justices seekers wandering through and causing problems.
He sympathized because he used to be one of them out there on the Westside roughing up the passersby to earn a little cash and what he thought was respect from those that cowered in fear from his knife.
He looked up as he heard the door open and the Viper Leiutentant walked in with two cups of coffee. "Anything knew this afternoon?", he asked as he passed the second cup over.
"Just the usual rabble on the streets."
"Nobody ever said recon and intel gathering was glamorous and exciting", he paused for a moment and said, "Is that a new one in zone 3?"
Marty turned back to the monitors again and saw a fight in progress on one of the monitors. For a change he didn't recognize the figure in the middle of the brawl.
"No one I've seen before, looks like power armor." He quickly toggled open a new subject file on the terminal to his left and began recording all the data feeds from zone three into it.
"Oh great", grumbled the Lt over his shoulder, "Another one with a minigun. And they call us the bad guys."
"At least he appears to be using rubber bullets. That's more than can be said for some of them ..."
"I guess so. Looks like he's done with those Red Banner's."
The Lt frowned, "Let the units operating near Cambridge Biotech know they have an unknown inbound to their position."
Marty typed out a quick alert and sent it out, receiving an acknowledgement within a few moments. On another monitor he saw Viper troops go on alert just before the unknown man in armor arrived. He called up the diagnostics for the local sensor net and waited for the data to roll in.
This was why Project Overwatch had been formed. Viper wanted all the data they could on the new "heroes" that seemed to be arriving in the city on a regular basis.
"We're ready sir, lets see how he handles trained combat troops and not street thugs."
((Project Overwatch was set up by Viper to monitor and gather data on the heroes of MC. Feel free to use Marty, the LT and their vast network of cameras in your own stories. I'll have more on the introduction of our stalwart armored hero soon))
