A minor guide for Silvers about Adventure Packs appeared at the official forums. Check it out here.On the subject I want to say that Demonflame is a very story driven adventure, whereas Serpent Lantern for the most part is not, and is rather straight forward in its story telling. Feel free to ask further questions or add to what the OP and I wrote.

great info, i was looking to buy one and hadnt decided which yet. the way you described it doesnt make the choice any easier. i want another great story (demonflame), but wouldnt mind an instance to help gear up (SL).
question about the loot: are the rares you are talking about achieved at the ends of quests, from random drops, or from boss fights? or all of the above.
also, you mentioned how groups for up for these. sidekicking aside, do the mobs scale with each individuals group level like for the blood moon event? or do they scale to the level of someone in the group?

Firstly, I didn't do the official forum post, I just linked it here (For future reference, my official forum name is the same as the one I have here.)
As for the loot, the best loot comes from the bosses, and there is one in each bunker. What people usually do is farm one bunker (i.e. beat the boss, relog, the bunker has reset, rinse, repeat) to farm gear from the boss. Trash mobs can drop some pretty good gear, too, though.
The mobs in the Adventure Pack scales to the character that first enters the instance, AFAIK, so make sure you are all the same level (through sidekicking or no) or that the one at the lowest level enters first and you will have an easier time.

I know one thing I struggled with when first deciding to buy/run was the approx length of time it takes and what happens if you need to break and hit MC bank part way though.
I've since heard Demon Flame should be under 3 hours to complete and Serpent Lantern should be a bit longer than that. Can someone confirm or tighten that estimate up please?
I ended up clearing a 6 hour window for Serpent Lantern but we'd hamstrung ourselves at the start making it a Brickwall tough bumrush assault (Team of 5 sidekicking up to 40, one dropped out) which we ended up leaving after clearing all the generators.
BTW Rabbit & Mac Awol - I've finally deleted the mission for our aborted first attempt. There was a touching ceremony, words were said, some were four letter.

Demonflame is slightly longer than Serpent Lantern. What I have been doing on SL, is that I complete the first mission, and then complete a bunker now and then. Between bunkers, you can run out of SL however you please and run about, so I usually only do a bunker every day or two. The same can be done with Demonflame and the towers, do one, leave the area, come back later to do another tower. I've noticed that doing this makes it a lot more pleasant to play the Adventure Packs a second time, at least for me.

I'll post the *save* spots if you are interested:
SPOILERS
Serpent Lantern:
1) after finishing the recon (talking to the scouts) before heading to Bunker Alpha.
2) after finishing the checkpoints at Alpha and the entrance - entering the bunker
3) after shutting down generator Alpha (not just defeating Viper X) before heading to Bravo
4) after finishing the checkpoints at Bravo and the entrance - entering the bunker
5) after shutting down generator Bravo (not just defeating Viper X) before heading to Gamma
6) after finishing the checkpoints at Gamma and the entrance - entering the bunker
7) after shutting down generator Gamma (not just defeating Viper X) before heading to the underground temple
8) after defeating Viperia
Demonflame:
1) after clearing the Demonhain in Westside
2) After entering the Qliphothic Realm.
3) After *feeding* the Demon Key, before entering the first tower.
4) After freeing the Avatar of the Heart of Man's Dementia
5) After freeing the Avatar of the Master of All Sorrow
6) After freeing the Avatar of the Muse of Lethargy and Despair
7) After freeing the Avatar of the Queen Beyond the Pale (note here: while the savepoint is reached after freeing the avatar, the open mission event that triggers afterwards, will only happen if you leave the tower there and then. If you log out of the game while in the tower, having reached the save point, when you log back in, the story will pick up after the open mission event)
8) After freeing the Avatar of the King of Lost Hope
