Guide Overview
Hello guys and girls, today I bring you a new and updated guide for the Impulse Archetype. So what does this hero do? This hero can control force fields to encase enemies inside a bubble or protect its allies with shields.
This is a premium Archetype that can be purchased by Silver Players from the Zen Store or is free for Lifetime Subscribers
This Archetype can be obtained for free by gathering 750 Patriot Tokens during the Patriot Event on July to unlock from the Store of Liberty Guard
Main Mechanics:
1. Knock Effects: These effects are present on almost all powers of this hero and can send enemies flying (knock back), trip over themselves (knock down) or high up in the air (knock up)
2. Containment Fields: This is the core mechanic of the Force power set which can be used to protect ourselves or allies with a damage absorption shield or trap enemies inside bubbles that will reduces the damage they take to make the hold harder to break.
3. Power Shield: This is a new effect that places a shield that doesn't absorb damage points but striking a target affected by it restores 2.5% energy to our hero.
4. Field Inversions: This is another new effect that will cause a small amount of Crushing damage to a enemy affected by a shield effect like Power Shield for example.

Power Explanation
Level 1 - Force Bolts: This is our energy builder power that doesn't need to be ranked up in order to generate energy for us so I recommend leaving it at rank 1. The special advantage of this power is called Energy Refraction that will create a small force field that absorbs a little amount of damage and the second special advantage of this power is called Entropy Field which gives a 15% chance to place an enemy in a Power Shield.
Level 1 - Force Blast: This is our Blast attack that will deal Crushing damage to the target and Knock them back. The special advantages of this power are the following:
1. Field Inversion: which will cause this power to deal Crushing damage in a small area if the target is affected by a shield effect on a full charge.
2. Demolishing Blast: which upon a full charge will apply the Demolish debuff on the target. Demolish lowers the target's Crushing damage resistance by 18% for 15 seconds.
3. Shield Generator: which will place a protective shield on our hero, and its absorption points scale with the rank of the Protection Field power.
Level 6 - Force Eruption OR Crushing Wave: This is the first choice between two powers for this Archetype.
1. Force Eruption: This power will deal Crushing damage to all targets within a 10ft sphere and a maximum of 5 targets. If charged for at least 50% the targets will be Knocked back (knock distance is based on Ego given this is a ranged power) and has the following special advantages:
a. Gravitational Polarity which applies a Power Field Rune in place of its old effect, which restores energy over time. Scales with Recovery.
b. Field Expulsion: If we are affected by a direct Shield effect, removes it and shields nearby allies. Scales with the Recovery stat and additionally based on the rank of our Protection Field power. Costs 3 advantage points.
2. Crushing Wave: This power will deal Crushing damage in a 45 degree cone and 50ft range to all enemies every 0.5 seconds as well push them away from us. This power has the following advantages:
a. Disruptive Force: grants a chance to knock down enemies every hit. Costs 1 advantage point.
b. Entropy Field: each pulse now has a 20% chance to apply a Power Shield to targets. Full maintain guarantees the application of this effect.
c. Barrier: maintaining this power will place a shield on our hero that will absorb incoming damage.
Level 8 - Personal Force Field OR Kinetic Manipulation: This is the second choice between two powers for this Archetype.
1. Personal Force Field: This is one of the three Slotted Passive powers of the Force power set which will apply a regenerating damage absorbtion shield on our hero which health scales with our Super Stats. This shield will regenerate a portion of its health every 3 seconds but decreases as we take damage, conversely blocking increses the regeneration rate. Yellow Orbs of Defense and Blue Orbs of Energy will also restore the shield strength when we are in a battle.
2. Kinetic Manipulation: This is one of the three Slotted Paassive powers of the Force power set which will increase all of our Ranged Physical damage (Slashing, Crushing and Piercing) as well greatly increase our resistance to Ranged Physical damage and to a lesser dregree Physical damage resistance. Recovers energy when we are struck by Crushing damage. This energy return scales with the amount of damage taken and the Recovery stat. Also increases our Knock resistance, scaling with our super stats and this effect is doubled if we are Shielded.
Level 11 - Protection Field OR Contaimment Field: This is the second choice between two powers for this Archetype.
1. Protection Field: This is a direct shielding power that will scale off from our Presence as if it was a healing power. This shield can be placed on us or a nearby ally and taking damage will return energy to us. This energy return scales with the Recovery stat. This power has the following special advantages
a. Expel Impurity: the number of effects removed scales with rank. Can remove most damage over time effects and now costs 1 advantage point.
b. Breakout: If our target is affected by a Crowd Control effect like a Sleep or Paralyze, this advantage will apply Break Free damage to that hold effect.
2. Containment Field: This power will Paralyze the target for 12 seconds inside a force bubble that will reduce the damage the target takes by 50% to make the hold harder to break. Against targets immune to Crowd Control like Super Villains, Legendary Villains or Cosmic Monsters, it will apply a Power Shield innately instead of the Paralyze. This power has a special advantage called Shield Dispersal which will place the target and nearby enemies in a Power Shield.
Level 14 - Force Control: This is our toggle form that will grant us stacks of Untapped Power which increases the ranged damage of our hero by a large amount and melee damage for a lesser amount everytime we attempt to Knock a foe. We can gain a stack of this form once every 4 seconds, stacks up to 8 times and the damage bonus of this form scales with our Endurance stat. Also increases our energy costs by 10%.
Level 17 - Force Cascade: This power will concentrate a titanic blast of kinetic energy and launch it to the foes within 100ft reach and a 5ft cylinder, knocking them back and dealing huge Crushing damage to all targets caught in the blast. This power has the following special advantages:
a. Focus Point: Turns this power into a single target ability. Boosts damage significantly and decreases its energy cost too.
b. Field Inversion: If you are affected by a direct Shield effect like Protection Field, when fully charged consumes the shield, increases the radius of this power and deals additional damage to secondary targets. If your target is affected by a shield effect like Power Shield, deals additional damage around them.
Level 21 - Force Shield: This is our block replacer power that can be maintained to reduce incoming damage from foes' attacks. The feature of this block power is that generates more energy from incoming attacks. Force Shield will generate energy based on the damage taken and our Recovery stat. This power has a special advantage called Force Sheathe which will apply a lingering block effect for 8 seconds and will also generate energy from incoming attacks, however this one cost 3 advantage points.
Level 25 - Impact Force: This power is our energy unlock that will generate energy over time if we attempt to Knock a foe. The energy return of this power scales with our Endurance and Recovery stats.
Level 30 - Field Surge: This power is considered an Active Defense which will repair damage dealt to the power called Personal Force Field as well grant our hero an additional force field which is a damage absorption shield that will mitigate incoming damage for a maximum duration and this power lasts for 15 seconds. With the recent review of the Force powerset, this power blocks incoming damage as if we are blocking and takes into account our hero's resistances. The special advantage of this power is called Unchained which will apply a large amount of Break Free damage to any holds or disable affecting our hero, a stack of hold resistance and a stack of knock resistance.
Level 35 - Force Detonation OR Force Geyser: This is the final choice between two powers for this Archetype.
1. Force Detonation: This power will create an explosion of kinetic energy that will deal Crushing damage to foes and knock them back within 50ft and a 10ft sphere. Also this power will innately invert any shield effect on the targets and deal 30% more base damage if the enemy is immune to Knock effects. The special advantages of this power are the following
a. Gravitational Pull: Replaces the Knock back effect with a Knock upwards.
b. Recharge: Which will apply the Restoration self heal over time that will heal us for a small amount every 2 seconds for 6 seconds. If our health is below 20% this heal effect will be stronger on the first pulse as well the following heal pulses. Activates a shared cooldown with similar advantages of 4 seconds.
2. Force Geyser: This power will make our hero snap their fingers and knock up a single enemy within a distance of 100ft. The special advantages of this power are the following:
a. Hard Landing which will Snare the target reducing their movement speed by 100% for 16 seconds.
b. Bruiser which will refresh the duration of the the Demolish debuff if its present on the target.
c. Entropy Field: which will place a Power Shield on the target and nearby enemies.
Level 40 - Redirected Force: This power is now an Active Ultimate and can be used while held or disabled so activating this power applies a large amount of Break Free damage to any Crowd Control effect affecting our hero. Provides a continuous shield to yourself and allies that uses resistance, greatly increases knock resistance of yourself and allies, makes you immune to most forms of control effects while maintaining, allies hit grants us energy. Grants a stacking buff that increases our base damage for a short time. This effect expires once we attack. The special advantage of this power is called Hold the Line, this power counts as using a block for power interaction purposes for a short time. This does not grant any buffs, it only provides protections against powers that check if you are blocking for interaction purposes. The duration increases based on the rank of our Force Shield power.
