Guide Overview
Hello guys and girls, today I bring you a new and updated guide for the Devastator Archetype. So what does this hero do? This hero wields a Heavy Weapon that deals area of effect damage in a wider area (15ft reach) than most melee power sets (10ft reach). The heavy swings of the powers might be slow but can be deadly and leave targets Disoriented.
This is a premium Archetype that can be purchased by Silver Players from the Zen Store or is free for Lifetime Subscribers
This Archetype can be obtained for free by gathering 750 Circus Malvanum Gears during the rotative Circus Malvanum event to unlock from the Store of Jo the Mechanic.
Main Mechanics:
1. Knock Effects: These effects are present on almost all attacks of the powers of the Heavy Weapon power set which can send the enemies flying long distance (Knock Back), launch them up in the sky (Knock Up), make the enemies trip over themselves (Knock Down) and pull the foes toward our hero (Knock Towards/Knock to).
2. Reckless: This effect is present on several advantages of the Might powers and will apply the eponymous buff to our hero, that applies a shield effect called Bastion calculated from 10% of our damage pre-damage mitigation.
3. Disorient: This is a debuff used by many powersets, and will reduce the target's damage by 10% and movement speed by 25% for 12 seconds.
4. No Quarter: This is a debuff that reduces Crushing and Fire damage resistance of the target by 15% for 15 seconds.
5. Clinging Flames: This is a debuff that deals Fire damage over time every 2 seconds for 12 seconds and is considered a Burning Effect. Clinging Flames may leap to other targets dealing minor Fire damage over time.

Power Explanation
Level 1 - Bludgeon: This is our energy builder that will swing in horizontal strikes our mighty weapon to deal damage to foes and the first strike of this power has 15% chance to apply the Disorient debuff. The special advantage of this power is called Until Morale Improves which will cause all hits of this attack to have a 15% chance to Disorient the targets instead the opening strike.
Level 1 - Cleave: This power is tagged as a Combo for Specialization Tree purposes that will hit enemies in a wide area around our hero by performing 3 hits. The first two strikes deal Crushing damage in a 360 degree cone and have a 50% chance to Knock down targets. If the primary target is affected by Disorient, the Knock down is guaranteed. The final hit deal Crushing and Fire damage with a 50 degree cone and the primary target is Knocked down while secondary targets have a 50% chance to be knocked down. Additionally if the target is immune to knock effects, has a 20% chance to apply Clinging Flames per hit. This power has the following special advantages:
a. Defensive Stance: This advantage will refresh the duration of the Defiant! stacks if we have the Slotted Passive called Defiance. If we don't have said passive finishing this combo applies Aegis to our hero which increases our damage resistance by 18% for 15 seconds.
b. Rampant: Cleave now applies Reckless to our hero.
c. Fiery Spirit: Each hit has a chance to apply the Clinging Flames debuff. Finishing this combo guarantees the application of the debuff.
Level 6 - Unstoppable: This is our Slotted Passive power that will increase all our melee and Bleed damage by a large amount and all other damage by a lesser amount. Unstoppable will generate energy whenever an enemy knocks our hero, this energy return scales with our Recovery stat, as well this power grants us a boost to our Knock and Crowd Control resistance.
Level 8 - Arc of Ruin: This power can be charged to deal Crushing damage to the foes and apply the Disorient debuff to them in a 360 sphere. This power has the following special advantages:
a. No Quarter: This power will now apply the No Quarter debuff.
b. Wildire: This power will refresh the duration of all our Clinging Flames on our targets and also Knock them down. The knock effect can happen once every 4 seconds.
Level 11 - Vicious Descent OR Decimate: This is the first choice between two powers for this Archetype.
1. Vicious Descent: This ability will close the distance with our targets, performing a lunge dealing Crushing and Fire damage to them as well applying a stack of Reckless per target hit up to 3 stacks. Also this power will Snare targets, reducing their movement speed and has a recharge of 15 seconds. This power has the following special advantages:
a. Relentless: Vicious Descent will knock down targets hit.
b. Work Up: Which will apply the Restoration self heal over time that will heal us for a small amount every 2 seconds for 6 seconds. If our health is below 20% this heal effect will be stronger on the first pulse as well the following heal pulses. Activates a shared cooldown with similar advantages of 4 seconds.
c. Bold Entrance: This advantage will boost the shield effect granted by Bastion by absorbing 50% damage instead of the standard 10%. This boosted version of Bastion and Reckless will dissappear if we attack the target with a Non-Heavy Weapon attack.
2. Decimate: This is a movement power that will close quarters with our target dealing Crushing damage with a strike of our weapon, if we lunge more than 20ft away this power will Disorient them, Snare the foe reducing their movement speed so they can't escape. The special advantage of this power is called Restraining Order which will Root the target in place for a short amount of time.
Level 14 - Enrage: This is our toggle form that will grant us stacks of Enrage which increases the melee damage of our hero by a large amount and ranged damage for a lesser amount everytime we attempt to knock a foe. We can gain a stack of this form once every 4 seconds, stacks up to 8 times and the damage bonus of this form scales with our Strength stat. Also increases our energy costs by 10%. This form has a cosmetic advantage called Giant Growth which costs 0 advantage points and will cause our hero to grow for each stack of Enrage we have.
Level 17 - Skewer OR Skullcrusher: This is the second choice between two powers for this Archetype.
1. Skewer: This power will deal damage in a line in front of our hero damaging the primary target for a huge amount of damage and secondary targets for a lesser amount. Has a 22-50% chance to apply a stack of the Bleed debuff to all enemies (based on charge time). Bleed deals Slashing damage over time every second for 16 seconds and is considered a Wound effect. This power has the following special advantages:
a. Follow Through: This advantage increases the charge damage of Skewer by 25%. Costs 1 advantage point.
b. Initiative: This advantage increases the Tap and base damage of Skewer by 15%. Costs 1 advantage points.
c. Focused: Fully charging this power reduces the recharge time of Active Offense powers. This advantage has no effect on Active Ultimates like Master of the Mind or Feral Rage.
d. Magma Burst: This advantage adds Fire damage to this power. Skewer now deals additional Fire damage to all targets and has a 45-100% chance to apply Clinging Flames to the enemies. This advantage replaces the Bleed component of this power.
e. Impaler: When fully charged targets within 5ft are Knocked towards us 1ft. Other targets are knocked towards us 5ft.
f. Sharpened Blade: This advantage will change the Crushing damage of this power to Slashing. Costs 1 adv point.
2. Skullcrusher: This power will deal Crushing and Fire damage in equal amounts to enemies in front of us within 15ft and a 3ft cylinder and they are also Knocked down. Skullcrusher has a 50-100% chance to Disorient targets (based on charge time). This power has the following special advantages:
a.Put Them Down: This advantage causes Skullcrusher to deal a 15% additional damage versus Disoriented targets. Costs 1 advantage point.
b. Unhinged: This advantage will cause this power to deal an additional 10% more base damage for each stack of Reckless we have, (up to a maximum of 30% at 3 stacks). Costs 1 advantage point.
c. Falling Hammer: Fully charging this power applies the Demolish debuff to the primary target. Demolish reduces Crushing damage resitance of the foes by 18% for 15 seconds.
Level 21 - Guard: This is our block replacer power that can be maintained to reduce incoming damage from foes' attacks. The feature of this power is that while blocking will apply or refresh the Retaliation buff increasing the damage of our next attack for a certain percentage based on rank. Retaliation will generate energy based on the damage taken and our Recovery stat. This power has the following special advantages:
a. Punitive Pummeling: Attacks made against our hero while blocking with this power have a 100% chance to reflect the incoming damage as a Knock Back. This effect can occur at most every 10 seconds and deals no damage.
b. Weapon Cover: After 2 seconds of releasing this block power we are granted a damage absorption shield with a maximum health of 1000 absorption points. Costs 3 advantage points.
Level 25 - Pulverizer OR Thermal Reverberation: This is the third choice between two powers for this Archetype.
1. Pulverizer: This power is an energy unlock that will generate energy over time if we attempt to knock a foe. The energy return of this power scales with our Recovery and Endurance stats and can stack up to 3 times. Gaining a new stack refreshes the duration of all stacks of this energy unlock.
2. Thermal Reverberation: This power is an energy unlock that will generate energy over time if we are near foes affected by our Clinging Flames debuff. The energy return of this power scales with our Endurance and Recovery stats.
Level 30 - Earth Splitter OR Eruption: This is the fourth choice between two powers for this Archetype.
1. Earth Splitter: This is a ranged attack that can be charged to deal Crushing and Fire damage to foes within 50ft and a 5ft cylinder. Also this power has a 42-100% chance to Knock enemies up as well a 42-100% chance to apply the Reckless buff to our hero (based on charge time). This power has the following special advantages:
a. Bend the Earth: This advantage will Knock towards our hero targets that are 10ft away from us.
b. Fiery Chasm: This advantage will grant Earth Splitter a scaling chance to apply the Clinging Flames debuff to all targets based on charge time.
c. No Quarter: This power now applies the eponymous debuff to Disoriented targets.
d. Engulfing Flames: This power will consume all the Clinging Flames on the targets and replace them with stacks of Engulfing Flames. Engulfing Flames reduces the targets Fire damage resistance by 8% per stack. Stacks up to 3 times and lasts for 15 seconds.
2. Eruption: This power will deal Crushing and Fire damage to all targets and they are Knocked up within 15ft and a 320 degree cone. Against Disoriented targets, the damage is doubled and the Knock height too. If the targets are immune to Knock effects, this power will deal 15% more damage and Stun them for 2 seconds. This power has the following special advantages:
a. Magma Burst: This advantage will cause an burst of magma, dealing additional Fire damage and applying the Clinging Flames debuff to the targets within 15ft of our primary target.
b. Reckless Endangerment: This advantage will apply Reckless to our hero for each target hit.
c. Thunderbolt: Applies Negative Ions to the targets and they are Rooted in place for 8 seconds.
Level 35 - Aggressor OR Endorphin Rush: This is the final choice between two powers for this Archetype.
1. Aggressor: This power is an Active Offense which will increase all our damage and grant us bonus Constitution and Strength. Also applies Break Free damage to any Holds, Roots or Disables affecting our hero. Has a recharge of 1 min and 30 seconds. This power has a special advantage called Destructive Force that will cause our attacks to Stun foes for 2 seconds while this Active Offense lasts.
2. Endorphin Rush: This is a heal over time power which heal will trigger if we deal damage or suffer damage from an enemy attack and the heal happens once every 2 seconds for 6 seconds for the next 15 seconds. The heal of this power doesn't scale with the Presence stat, instead it scales with our Constitution and Recovery stats. The special advantage of this power is called Can't Stop Me and will apply 3 stacks of Charged Up, which increases our travel speeds for a short time.
Level 40 - Brimstone: This power will deal Crushing and Fire damage to all targets around our hero in a 15ft sphere. If partially charged this power will Knock up targets and if full charged this ability will Knock them upwards. Additionally if this power is used against Knock immune targets they will be Snared for 7 seconds and receive 15% more damage. This power has the following special advantages:
a. Aftershock: This advantage will create a Pyre Patch which is an area burning with Fire that lasts for 10 seconds and has a 10% chance to apply the Clinging Flames to the targets.
b. Thundering Roar: This advantage will grant this power a 21-50% chance to Stun targets for 2 seconds. Also this advantage will remove the Clinging Flames debuff present on the targets and replace them with Negative Ions and Disorient.
c. Lightning Rod: This advantage will cause foes affected by Negative Ions to be Knocked towards us and this ability also grants the Aegis buff which increases our resistance to all damage by 15% for 12 seconds.
d. Burning Sun: This advantage will create a Healing Rune on the ground that heals allies for a small amount of HP every 2 seconds for 10 seconds. This is an Enchantment Effect for Sorcery interactions.

The Endgame Gear refers to the items that can be unlocked by defeating Cosmic Threats (Teleiosaurus, Qwyjibo, Kigatilik and the Eidolon of Destruction) at level 40, who award Silver and Gold Champions Recognition tokens as well have a rare chance to drop cosmic secondary gear. The cosmic secondary gear can also be bought at the Champions Recognition vendors around the different maps with the respective perks. Be aware that you can only beat 3 cosmic monsters per day plus one fight against the Eidolon of Destruction and each fight will provide diminishing rewards.
