Guide Overview
Hello guys and girls, today I bring you a new and updated guide for the Midnight Archetype. So what does this hero do? This hero utilizes the powers of Shadow and Darkness to assault the enemies making them cower in their presence and can even use said powers to throw objects at them.
This is a premium Archetype that can be purchased by Silver Players from the Zen Store or is free for Lifetime Subscribers
Main Mechanics:
1. Fear: This is a debuff that can lower the damage of the enemies for 12 seconds. Some powers of this archetype benefit from this debuff. This is a Mental State.
2. Dependency: This is a debuff that can be applied to the enemies when Soul Vortex expires. Dependency is a debuff which causes the target to radiate healing pulses that will restore the health points to the closest ally near the foe affected by this ailment. Stacks up to 3 times and lasts for 20 seconds. This is a Mental State.
3. Despondency: This is the special advantage of Shadow Bolts which will lower the target's dodge chance up to a certain amount and gives all hits of Shadow Bot a chance to apply Fear. This is a Mental State.
4. Devoid: This is a debuff that lowers the target's Dimensional damage resistance by 18% for 15 seconds.

Power Explanation
Level 1 - Shadow Bolts: This is our energy builder power that doesn't need to be ranked up in order to generate energy for us so I recommend leaving it at rank 1. It will deal Dimensional damage to the target and the first hit is slightly more effective as well has a 20% chance to apply Fear to the target. The special advantage of this power is called Despondency and will cause all hits of this power have a chace to apply Fear to the target as well lower their dodge chance up to a certain percent. This advantage is a Mental State effect.
Level 1 - Shadow Blast: This is a power that can be charged to launch a focused bolt of shadow energy, and is tagged as a Blast for specialization tree purposes, which has a 25-100% chance to apply the Fear debuff to the target within 100ft. The special advantages of this power are the following:
a. Psychotic Break: Fully charging this power against a foe affected with Fear will Stun them for 2 seconds and apply a stack of the Bleed debuff. Bleed deals Slashing damage over time every second for 16 seconds and is considered a Wound Effect. This effect can happen once every 5 seconds.
b. Devoid: Fully charging this power applies the Devoid debuff. Devoid lowers the Dimensional damage resistance of the target by 18% for 15 seconds. If the targets are affected by either Dimensional Collapse or Ebon Rift, this power will apply this debuff to targets in a 10ft sphere. This effect is a Curse.
c. Back to Darkness: Chargin this power for at least 50% will destroy any Shadow pets spawned by the Summon Shadows power within 25ft of our hero, healing them for each Shadow consumed. This is a Lifedrain Effect.
Level 6 - Shadow Embrace: This power will assault the foes with tendrils of dark energy every 0.5 seconds within 50ft and each hit has a 20% chance to apply the Fear debuff to the targets. This power has the following special advantages:
a. Dark Displacement: Each hit of Shadow Embrace now has a 20% chance to Knock down targets.
b. Fatal Allure: Targets affected by Fear have a 33% chance per hit to be Knock towards our hero.
c. Draining Shadows: Each hit of Shadow Embrace now heal our hero for a small amount. This is a Lifedrain Effect.
Level 8 - Shadow Form: This our Slotted Passive which will increase all of our Paranormal damage (Ego, Magic and Dimensional), increases our resistance to Paranormal damage for a small amount, greatly increases our resistance to Dimensional damage, grants us bonus Aggression and Perception Stealth making hard for foes to see our hero, and recovers energy when we are a struck by a Dimensional attack. Also each time we attack a target we have a chance to recover a small percentage of our health. Counts as an Energy Form.
Level 11 - Dimensional Collapse OR Soul Vortex: This is the first choice between two powers for this Archetype.
1. Dimensional Collapse: This power will deal Dimensional over time to foes every second for 16 seconds within 50ft and a sphere of 12ft. All targets are Knocked down. This power has the following advantages:
a. Evelope in Darkness: Targets are Rooted in place for 8 seconds.
b. Glimpse of they Abyss: Targets have applied the Fear debuff to them initially and have a 20% chance to have it reapplied.
c. Gravitational Collapse: Targets are now Knocked back instead of Knock down. The disntance of this effect scales with the Ego stat.
d. Lingering Darkness: This advantage will refresh the duration of the Devoid debuff and has a 20% chance to prolong its duration for 2 seconds.
2. Soul Vortex: This power will spawn a tornado of dark energy pulling in targets to it within 15ft and deals Dimensional damage to all targets every second for 12 seconds. When the Vortex expires it will leave behind a Healing Rune that will heal our hero and allies if we are standing on it every 2 seconds for 10 seconds. This power has the following special advantages:
a. Soul Drain: This advantage will apply the Dependency debuff upon expiration. Dependency is a Mental State effect.
b. Fear Machine: This advantage will grant Soul Vortex a 15% chance to apply the Fear debuff to the targets every hit.
Level 14 - Shadow Manifestation: This is our toggle form that will grant us stacks of Precision which increase the ranged damage of our hero by a large amount and melee damage for a lesser amount everytime we directly apply a Mental State effect. We can gain a stack of this form once every 4 seconds, stacks up to 8 times and the damage bonus of this form scales with our Presence stat. Also increases our energy costs by 10%.
Level 17 - Ebon Ruin: This power will deal a large amount of Dimensional damage to a single target and snare them based on charge time. This power has the following special advantages:
a. Nyctophobia: This advantage will increase the base damage of Ebon Ruin by 30% when used against targets affected by Fear.
b. Paranormal Paranoia: This power now has a 33-100% chance to apply the Fear debuff to the target, based on charge time.
c. Darkness Feast: This advantage will cause this power to double the healing effect of Shadow Form when used. Costs 1 advantage points.
Level 21 - Ebon Void: This is our block replacer power that can be maintained to reduce incoming damage from foes' attacks. The feature of this power is that it will deal a small amount of Dimensional damage to the targets and heal us for a small amount of health points, this healing is a Lifedrain Effect. Ebon Void will generate energy based on the damage taken and our Recovery stat. The special advantage of this power is called Voracious Darkness which will grant stacks of the buff named after the advantage and each stack increases damage resistance by 10% and stacks up to 5 times. Costs 3 advantage points.
Level 25 - Spirit Reverberation: This power is our energy unlock that will generate energy over time if we attack a foe affected by Fear with Dimensional damage. The energy return of this power scales with our Recovery and Endurance stats.
Level 30 - Shadow Shroud OR Circle of Ebon Wrath: This is the second choice between two powers for this Archetype.
1. Shadow Shroud: This power is our Active Offense that will increase all the damage we deal with our attacks for 15 seconds, grant us a burst of energy when we are struck by damage once every 3 seconds, apply Break free damage to any Holds, Roots or Disable affecting us. This ability has a recharge of 1 min and 30 seconds. This power has the following special advantages:
a. Terrifying Visage: This advantage causes Shadow Shroud to apply Psychotic break to enemies attacking us, Stunning them for 2 seconds and applying a stack of the Bleed debuff. Bleed deals Slashing damage over time every second for 16 seconds and is considered a Wound effect
b. Night Vision: This advantage will grant us the Detect buff allowing us to see invisible foes like VIPER infiltrators by increasing our Stealth Sight by 22%, Perception by 150% and Minimap Radius by 75 points. Detect is an Enchantment Effect.
2. Circle of Ebon Wrath: This power will create a Circle at the feet of our hero which will increase the damage dealt by a certain percentage and foes that are close to the Circle will be affected by Fear and our Threat will be reduced by 12%. The downside of this power is that it will reduce the effectiveness of healing effects on our hero until we leave the Circle. Leaving the Circle for more than 2 seconds will cause it to disappear. The special advantage of this power is called Advanced Casting which will allow us to leave the Circle for more than 2 seconds and the it will persist up to 10 seconds. Costs 3 advantage points.
Level 35 - Ebon Rift OR Summon Shadows: This is the third and final choice between two powers for this Archetype.
1. Ebon Rift: This power will summon a Rift that will deal Dimensional damage to the foes close to it within 50ft in a 15ft sphere. This power has a scaling chance to apply the Fear debuff based on rank and has a 15 second recharge. The Rift will stay the double of the duration if this power is fully maintained. This power has the following special advantages:
a. Vengeful Shadows: Targets that are too close to the Rift will suffer massive Dimensional damage and will be knocked back (Knock distance scales with the Ego stat). If the target is immune to knock effects, they will take some additional damage instead.
b. Event Horizon: Each pulse of this power now has a 10% chance to apply Bane to the targets. Bane will apply one of the following debuffs to the targets randomly: Fear, Confuse, Stun, Disorient, Lethargic, Bleed, Deadly Poison, Clinging Flames, and Stagger. This is what is advertised in the tooltip but this advantage will apply more random debuffs.
c. Hellfire: This advantage will create a Pyre patch in the area, dealing Fire damage over time to foes standing on it and also has a 10% chance to apply the Clinging Flames debuff to the targets. Clinging Flames deals Fire damage over time once every 2 seconds for 12 seconds and is considered a Burning Effect alongside the Pyre Patch.
d. Endless Void: This advantage will cause this power to heal friendly targets if they are close the Rift when it is summoned. This is a Lifedrain Effect
2. Summon Shadows: This power will spawn 3 Shadow pets that attack the foes very quickly and has a 20 second recharge. This ability has a special advantage called Devouring Darkness which will cause the our Shadows to heal us for 25% of the damage they deal.
Level 40 - Madness Aura: This power will summon an aura of pure darkness around our hero and it can even lift objects and throw them to the enemies while this power is active. Madness Aura is a toggle power that can be used alongside other powers and the pick up and throw portion of this power scales with our Presence stat. Also this power has a chance to apply the Fear debuff to targets around us and the can make objects explode. If there are foes near the object that exploded they will be affected by the Devoid debuff. This power has an advantage called Chaos! Chaos! which each pulse of this power now has a 10% chance to apply Bane to the targets.

The cosmic secondary gear can also be bought at the Champions Recognition vendors around the different maps with the respective perks. Be aware that you can only beat 3 cosmic monsters per day plus one fight against the Eidolon of Destruction and each fight will provide diminishing rewards.
