Journal Entry 182 April 1, 2009
Dear Journal,
I had to say goodbye to a good friend of mine today. Roxstar has decided to leave us. Wait that sounded wrong…he’s still alive, just looking to expand our team in another city. That’s what I meant at least.
News has reached us that there are new heroes emerging in a place called Millennium City. The problem is just that the threat in this world has become more than we can handle. More than a lot of teams can handle, actually. Many friends of the Extant Force have died in recent months due to the overwhelming increase in super villains. One can only hope that Roxstar can recruit some heroic and beneficial additions to our team.
From what I hear there’s quite an influx of super powered people there. Isn’t it amazing what the human body is capable of? Praise God, almighty! Now I can only pray that He uses all that power for the benefit of His glory and for the people of this world. I pray that those gifted with this power will not abuse it and that those who do are struck down in humility, humbled before God as we take it away from them!
And lastly I pray that God will keep Roxstar safe in his new adventure. To God be the glory, Amen!

Journal Entry 207 September 25, 2009
Dear Journal,
Wow, has it really already been five months since Roxstar left for Millennium City? I’ve been hearing of some great arrivals to our team in his absence. I have to admit I’m a little jealous of the adventures they’ve been having fighting the Chanamines. As a matter of fact the Chanamines in general intrigue me.
From what I’ve gathered of Roxstar’s transmissions, these…things…are mere children that have been operated on. Actually, between the tubes sticking out of their bedridden flesh and the empty stare in their eyes, these poor children don’t seem like human beings at all. Apparently these children also have mental powers. Having learned my abilities over years and years of dedication, I want to know how somebody could simply give mental powers to someone overnight. I cannot fathom how such a thing would be done.
So, in light all this, Dr. Lin has just informed us that we are going to leave for Millennium City here in the next few days to assist Roxstar in taking down the Chanamines. Some of the new members to the Force who will be helping us on this mission are Skyborne, an immortal winged hero who doesn’t say much and can manipulate light; reminds me a bit of Arella. Sera Legacy, a teenage girl who is very skilled in martial arts and has mentalist abilities; a kind of mix between myself and Jacquin. And last of the new crew is Wintermoon, an early 9th Century Valkyrie who has a deep connection with the runic mystics of the past.
All in all, it sounds like a fun time. I can’t wait to get the whole gang back together again!

Journal Entry 209 October 6, 2009
Dear Journal,
Now that we’ve settled into to our new Headquarters I’ve had some time to meet several of the new additions to the Force. To start off, the comment I made a few entries back about the similarities of Skyborne and Arella. Way off base. Sure their both immortal, have wings, and don’t talk much but unlike Arella he is very genuine and kind. Instead of not talking because he hates mankind he simply believes in getting straight to the point in the fewest words possible. So different.
The one I was really looking forward to meeting was Sera Legacy. After I heard about her protecting Roxstar against the Chanamine’s mental awareness I was very interested in getting to know her. She actually reminds me a lot of Jacquin because of her love for Martial Arts and how young she is. She’s not quite as good as Jacquin, being self taught and all, but she was really good. Even though that’s what she wouldn’t stop talking about I was more curious about where she got her mental abilities and how she learned to control them.
Once I finally got her to stop talking about her fighting skills (she really is quite the jabber box) we had a long discussion about her mother. Sera, or Rachel rather, told me that she inherited her powers from her mother whose name was uncoincidently Sera. It’s not surprising that her mom taught her how to control them and even less surprising given her interest in Martial Arts that she hasn’t really refined her psionic abilities.
We talked quite a bit more after that, but not about her powers. Once Rachel’s mom was brought into the equation she shut down that topic. Man does this child know how to deviate from a topic. Her bright outlook on life is a nice change from Arella’s cynical one. I actually feel a little protective of her being that she’s so young and parentless. I’m sure it has a lot to do with her mental powers as well though. I want to see how much potential is in that wandering brain of hers. Speaking of her ramblings, it’s even more curious how she can calm down enough to focus good enough to do what she does know how to do.

What was that? More art you say? Alrighty then...
This was the first piece of artwork I ever received of Psi. If you look closely you'll notice that his emblem is a bit different. Yep. Well, this was before he modernized it. Anywayz, enjoy!

Journal Entry 211 October 10, 2009
Dear Journal,
So I’ve been spending a lot of my time with Rachel lately. It’s interesting though; the more time I spend with Rachel the more Arella starts to act awkward again. I find it fascinating that for a being who hates mankind so much, she requires for me to be in her presence so often.
She has explained to me before about how my compassion for others intrigues her. However, it’s starting to feel like I’m some sort of experiment for her. Something she needs to observe for amusement. Rachel says Arella has a crush on me but I don’t believe her. I mean, there was the really random, perplexing kiss but … affection? HA! I’ll sick with experimental lab rat.
For instance, I took Rachel to the zoo the other day to teach her how to read non-human minds. For a telepath, the mind of an animal is a very complicated thing to get into much less understand. It is, however, an incredibly important technique to learn when you need a lead during a mission. Well Arella decided that she was going to follow us all over the zoo, using us as her guinea pigs. She attempted to be inconspicuous but I knew she was there. Annoys the absolute crap out of me!
Ugh, I can’t stand it when she does stuff like this. I don’t even know what type of information she’s gathering for her little “experiment” but I wish she’d stop already. Why can’t Arella just be my friend? I just don’t understand all the secrecy.

Journal Entry 212 October 13, 2009
Dear Journal,
I’ve finally got around to speaking with…or more accurately barely speaking with…Skyborne. I wanted to get to know him better because his immortality and his whole coming into existence are very similar to Arella. Well, minus the goddess part.
The first thing I learned? Skyborne doesn’t like to talk much. As in hardly at all. Rox told me he was quiet however I didn’t expect to this extent. Another thing I noticed is that Skyborne likes to take his time when answering questions. Very patient, very calm. Skyborne really has no contempt with anything in this world. I wish I could have his optimism.
After several minutes of mere yeses and noes, with the occasional ‘that’s nice,’ I decided it would be easier to talk to him telepathically. He rather enjoyed this because it allowed him to express himself quickly without having to miss any details. See Skyborne believes that the best way to communicate is to answer very precisely and with the most direct answer possible. Detailed conversations to him are just a waste of time. As heartless as that seems, Skyborne does have good intentions. I, however, like the details so talking telepathically is the best solution for us both.
All in all, Skyborne is an extremely learned and wise being. He has had an incredible life and has experienced more than any history book could tell us. I did try to pinpoint the beginning of his existence per his request but I’m not even completely sure his subconscious knows the answer to that question. He seemed disappointed with the result; though I’m sure we’ll get another chance to try again.

Journal Entry 216 October 19, 2009
Dear Journal,
I know I don’t usually do this but I’ve become desperate. Yesterday I had a conversation with Dr. Lin about the possibility of making a consumable concoction that would make someone fall asleep. He was very curious about why I would be so interested in such a thing considering my psionic abilities and all. I didn’t really want to get into the details so I may have implanted the idea in his head for him to make one. Let me tell you, that’s extremely hard to do with a man as smart as Dr. Lin. Took some extra concentration!
That crosses some ethical boundaries, I know, but I can’t stand not knowing what’s going on inside Arella’s head. I’m guessing that if I can put her under it will give me more time to search through her thoughts for the answers I seek. It may also be possible that her mind’s defenses will be reduced by the concoction as well allowing me to see things I normally would not be able to.
In the end I have no idea if this is going to work or not and I’m battling my conscience whether or not to even proceed with it. I’ll have to write again as soon as I’ve figured out what I want to do.

Journal Entry 221 October 27, 2009
Dear Journal,
Alright, I went into Arella’s mind and I did not find what I expected to find at all! Instead of getting some insight to all her secrecy and social “experiments,” I caught a glimpse of war.
It was creepy to say the least. I mean, I knew about her hatred of man, and I knew about losing her status as goddess of the skies, but I had no idea about the amount of rage flowing through her heart. There were so many killings. So many innocent lives destroyed. And all of this by her own hands! Apparently, Arella abhorred humans so much for choosing Gaia over her that she sought revenge on as many of them as possible. That was until she was abolished from the gods’ realm altogether.
Afterwards I decided that I should confront Arella about what I had done. My conscience was eating at me real bad. She forgave me but seemed very upset. I told her that I could help her ease the pain and at first she acted like she was in agreement.
However, before I could act on it Rox busted in going on and on about some villain obsessed with tacos. Before I knew it we were in the midst of battle fighting off a zombie horde. It was easy work for the Extant Force really but has postponed my conversation with Arella. Hopefully not indefinitely.

Just curious if anyone actually reads these. I always enjoy feedback as I'm not the best writer and suck at English grammar in general. Any constructive criticism?
Or praise. I like that too.

Journal Entry 223 – “Hypnosis” November 5, 2009
Dear Journal,
So Halloween’s over. Thank the Lord. That Takofanes guy was ridiculous. Dude just doesn’t die. I hate the undead. You know they’re really hard on a mentalist too? There’s just not a whole lot activity in the brain for me to do anything with. I seem to manage, though.
Anyway, after things died down a bit (pun not intended) I got a chance to sit down with Arella again. This time I did right and asked if we could do a hypnotherapy session. To my surprise she agreed.
This time I was able to dig deeper into her darkest wounds. Partly, because she was aware and was open to me helping her heal. Needless to say I saw things that needn’t be repeated here. The session as a whole actually went pretty well. One of the good things about my powers is that I can not only take away someone’s physical pain, I can take away their mental pain as well. It’s a bit tricky with a goddess though. Her mind is not as fragile as us humans and therefore has more barriers.
My main focus was attacking the evil desires she possessed. This was difficult for me. There were several minutes during this that I wanted to completely erase her mind; to make her a vegetable. It was like a endless cycle. Like a Paradox! The more of the evil I took in, the more that evil made me want to destroy her because of said evil. I am glad that Stranger trained me to have such a strong will. Without it, we’d both have lost our minds.

Journal Entry 233 – “Bad Teddy!” December 17, 2009
Dear Journal,
It seems like Millennium City is always full of surprises. Earlier this evening this massive teddy bear attacked the city. Clarence, as he called himself, was apparently the creation of an evil toy maker named Black Harlequin. I don’t know what it is about this city and the weird child-like villains. First we have Foxbat who is constantly terrorizing the city with his “Amazing Ping-Pong Ball Gun” and now this guy.
HA! HA!
So ridiculous if you ask me. I mean these guys are simply troubled teens trapped in an adult's body trying to be super villains with a wannabe costume. I don’t get it.
Anyway, it took all of Millennium City’s heroes to take this bear down. I mean, he was a massive nuisance. Extant Force was a big help though. Roxstar kept the bear’s attention while I tried to distract Black Harlequin. Galtronic used her technopathic skills to disassemble all the tiny robot toys Harlequin sent after us. The rest of the team did what they could to contribute.
Once he was down the city officials decided to award us by placing various presents around the city. It was really a nice gesture but most of them had stale cookies or pens and pencils in them. Extant Force ended up actually donating hundreds of the pencils we collected to the hero known as The Mighty Pencil. For every hundred he received he was going to donate a teddy bear to a child in need. And no, these bears were soft and cuddly, not huge and ugly.
Well that’s it for now. Happy Hanukkah!

Journal Entry 260 – “Carnival Games” March 17, 2010
Dear Journal,
So this past weekend the gang and I were talking about childhood memories. I reminisced about the first time Stranger ever took me to a traveling circus carnival. I was fascinated by all the sounds around me. Even though I couldn’t see I still had a lot of fun. As a matter of fact, I would suggest to anyone that they close their eyes the next time the ride one of the carnival rides. It’s exhilarating not knowing what’s going to happen next.
Everyone laughed and told their first experiences of when they went too. That is all except Arella. It doesn’t surprise me that she’s never been but when the rest of EF heard, they were insistent that we take a break from our daily patrols and go have some fun. Incidentally the circus was actually in town. I couldn’t believe it! HA!
Needless to say we were all over that. Roxstar actually seemed more excited than the rest of us, which is funny because he probably can’t ride any of the rides there. He certainly proved me wrong. Apparently, Roxstar has the ability to shed some of his rock and reduce his body weight. The first ride he ran to was the Zipper. I can’t blame him though, I love that ride too!
As we were standing in line Arella spotted the carnies standing in front of the Duck Pond game. She was very insistent that we try it. Arella was upset once she realized how simple the game really was. She quickly moved onto a new game. Next was the Water Gun where the first person to fill up the balloon won. Here is when she won her first stuffed animal, tiny as it was. Oh man it was on now! It wasn’t long before she noticed the huge stuffed animals at the Stand-A-Bottle booth.
I tried everything I could to reason with her about this game. “It’s near impossible, Arella,” I had said. But noooo she was determined. Honestly, it was like a kid in a candy store! She tried so hard to stand one of those bottles up with the string attached to it. I laughed at her stubbornness. That’s when it happened.
“Fine! You do it!”
Crap. “I’m blind,” I told her.
“Then use your mind thing.”
Interesting. I’d never thought about telekinesis. Now don’t get me wrong. I hate cheating but this game is a cheat to begin with. The bottles are almost always rigged with one side being heaver than the other. As a kid I played this game a few times. I tried to feel out the balance of the bottle but it always toppled over when the heavier side rotated to the top. The carnies never ceased to laugh at me. “What’re you? Blind?” Heh, peoples’ ignorance. I always forgave them though. How should they know?
So I ended up winning this time. Arella was ecstatic. She carried around that unicorn like a champ. She cracks me up sometimes.

Journal Entry 281 – “Extant Force Gives Back” May 8, 2010
Dear Journal,
So this past weekend Extant Force decided to hold a costume contest. This sounds silly but it’s actually quite common in Millennium City. It’s used as a tool to encourage all those new heroes out there. What extant Force decided to do was offer some monetary reward to our winners. We also use this as an advantage for recruitment.
There was a lot of interesting heroes that showed up. Some of them humanoids like Ice Penguin. There was a lizard, and a fox, even a spider guy!
Obviously, I wasn’t allowed to be a judge since I can’t see anything but the purple structure of a hero. I was; however, asked for input about the character of those individuals the rest of the group were thinking about choosing. They wanted me to look into their minds and see if they were true heroes or just posers. Didn’t really find any imposters.
In the end we got Extant Force’s name out there and gain quite a few new recruits. I forget who won but I think they all had fun regardless.

Journal Entry 287 – “The Apostle and the Angel” May 23, 2010
Dear Journal,
For the last couple of months we’ve been tracking down a nasty villain named Therakiel. He’s some sort of angel that was rejected from both Heaven and Hell. Guess he’s so caught up in having power that he just can’t choose a side. Anyway, our searches have lead us to no where, when finally one of our newer members, The Apostle, gave us a little more insight on the whole deal.
Apparently The Apostle has been tracking Therakiel for more than a decade and had quite a bit of insight into the fallen angel. Therakiel has been hiding in Vibora Bay for centuries waiting for the day Heaven and Hell wage war against each other. He’s been plotting on his own Apocalypse in response to take over the world.
It’s been a little strange working with The Apostle. While we have the same motives to take down Therakiel our backgrounds for doing so are conflicted. Mainly that he serves the Christian God and I serve a Jewish one. Needless to say we’ve had some heated debates about the authenticity of Jesus Christ. Right now though, we are putting that aside as much as possible to take on this blasphemous angel.
