I used to be a gold member. Due to finance problems I have had to reduce my spending, the payment for this game got cut. I was still interested in playing, though it might have to be as a free member. I logged into my old account, which still has the gold characters in it. But I cant seem to play any of them, and I think I am over the limit of amount of characters? I deleted 1 or 2 in order to make room for a new silver account character, but I cant seem to make any. I then tried to make a new silver account, but it tells me my email address cant be use for both - telling me I already have an account. I don't wish to delete all my characters in case I am able to come back some day as a gold member. How can I play on a silver account at present? Your best bet is to make a free e-mail account and use that to make a silver account. If you're not interested in that, you won't be able to play your gold characters on a silver account unless you convert them to silver characters. If you convert them it's a one way trip. They can't be changed back to gold freeform characters later. [glow=blue,2,300]The latest news is that later on an item will be created called an Archetype retcon token, and with it you can go back again.
It is only a one way trip for now.[/glow]

I know my fiancee is thinking of converting her character to an AT and going silver but I convinced her that if she wants to play again just roll an alt so as to not lose her level 20 until they add that token option.

Were you by chance trying to make a Specialist or Savage? Those two Archetypes are the "premium" ones. Cryptic has to flag them appropriately, because new players keep trying to make them without buying them, causing character creation to fail. I imagine it's one of the issues they'll be working on for next week's patch.

Howdy all! I Played CO when it first came out, had a level 25 character and grew bored and quit right around when STO came out. Now I wish to play again since F2P. What am I going to lose when I convert my old character to a Silver character and how do I convert him?

What am I going to lose when I convert my old character to a Silver character and how do I convert him? You'll possibly lose some powers depending on how far along you were. What will happen is you'll respec the gold free-form into an archetype of your choice. To do this, select the gold character to convert on the character selection screen. Click the "Convert" button below the "Rename" and "Delete" buttons. You'll be given a choice of AT's to chose from. Chose the one you'd like and proceed. Once in game, all powers will be removed and you'll need to go to the Powerhouse to buy up your AT powers. You'll also lose some bags if you have more then 1.

Figured it was time I join. Hello all Silvies...ehh that does sound right. Umm Hi Silvers, I'm Roxstar. Some of you may remember me from CoH as one of the coveted art whores...never owned as much as Thor's Assassin but I have a lot! Anywayz, in CO I'm known for my obsession with Earth powers and for hosting the championBuilder. It's a power building program to use for free form heroes, though you could pick powers that are available for an Archetype and see what advantages you might want to use. Currently it's being updated so don't expect too much from it at the moment but you can check it out and see what you think. Expect to have a full update in a couple of weeks with new powers and updated advanced info. -Rox

Hello folks! I played Champions Online for the first month, but for financial and time-management reasons, decided not to become a subscriber. I'm happy they've gone F2P, so I can satisfy my spandex jonesing...

It really helped me plan out how I wanted to put my characters together. Can't wait to see it updated!
