Hello, I have question about Grimoire .. I've been playing him for 3 days now, he is lvl 14 and I read somewhere in the Champion Online official forum guide that at some point, the sigil cooldown eventually going to be as low as the duration, is this true? If so, how much int is that going to be? My current cooldown is 25sec with 123 int. My int is a little higher than that, about 130ish, and my sigils are fading away as I'm casting my new ones. My level is 24, but it has been doing this, off and on, for the last two levels or so. I think the point is somewhere between 130 and 135.

It might have been happening sooner and I just didn't notice it. Thanks for contributing - your information proved invaluable!

Quick question...as I haven't tested this in the PH...does Vala's Light heal you as well as teammates? What about the advantage? Also if you don't have anyone targeted Arcane Vitality does heal you correct? Forgive my ignorance. I haven't played with healing much yet. Thanks.

If you're within 15 feet of your target, then yes, Vala's Light will heal you as well! Because of this, I often position myself near the ranged damage dealers to not only keep them healed, but also to keep my HP bar full. With Light Everlasting for Vala's Light, that too would be cast upon yourself if you're within 15 feet of your target. However, it is good to note that you cannot have multiple stacks of it going at once, so you and your targets are limited to one stack of it every 10 seconds. And yes, without a target, Arcane Vitality will cast on you when you activate it.

I think I'm supposed to be someone who gets bored of every AT after playing them to 27. Marksman, Glacier, Blade and now I'm thinking about Grimoires since I have just one last slot on my secondary account. So in the case of Grimoires, you don't have wonderful hp/dps so you can't just stride right into a group and expect to kill everyone in a flash right? But how hard is it to teleport into a group, cast sigils and teleport out? That's just the first question. Second question - The shield. Since I will never ever be taking crippling challenge or other pvp skills since I don't do it, is it recommended to R3 the shield instead (more damage resistance)? Like I go in, plant sigils, block all the way while my sigils zap my opponents to death. Third question - Pillar of Poz. Again, I'm not taking ANY pvp skills at all and I'm planning to forgo Nailed to the Ground at level 40. Anyway, is it recommended to take the Dizzying Impact advantage? Also works in conjunction with what is mentioned above: head in, sigil, pillar, block as a way of reducing damage done to me. Fourth question - Vala's Light > Arcane Vitality. I agree on this. But for Vala's Light, is R3 the way to go or R2 + Light Everlasting? The advantage sounds quite tempting. Fifth and final question: should someone who's been playing ATs which head in and start ganking and killing everything play this? I mean, how much of a difference is this AT as compared with the other ATs? I have a feeling this AT is gonna be similar to Glacier, except it's like paper instead of cardboard.

Grimoire is pretty hard to play, but imo he's the top class for t2 BASH (leaving out stupid OP inventor) I've destroyed everyone I've fought atm in BASH matches and duels with my Grimmie. That being said, Glacier and Behemoth are definitely better for pve solo play =P
1) Sigils are stupid strong. Don't even teleport out, just block and charge your energy while all the henchmen die, the blast spam the villains to finish them off. Downside of this is its really hard to kill stuff when sigils are on cd. (or circle around and poz if they're aoe types that damage sigils)
2) R2 shield should be more than enough to suit your needs unless you really have spare points left over
3) Dizzying impact is really a pvp skill. Crippling would probably be a better use of points because of the 20% damage debuff it puts on even in pve.
4) Arcane Vitality is actually higher healing per second up to 2 targets (especially if you solo). Vala's is better one you start taking groups of 3+ (assuming all 3 of you are clustered up). If you still want Vala's, R3 actually has slightly more healing output, but the hot lets you keep people topped off with less effort.
5) Grimoire is a full-on support hero until skarns, and is really much more satisfying in team play - you can knock people strategically with poz, swap heals for quick recovery, and set up sigils to make safe zones. If you try to solo though, expect long waits while your sigils recharge, or a lot of deaths

hmm... so from the above, it's even more tempting for me to create and play a grimoire. but for bossing, would you need a team or can you just solo everything? since sigils would only have around 900+ hp at R1, which bosses can easily 1 or 2 hit ko with their powers.
all of the characters i've played can solo bosses pretty well. :X
edit: just saw something which i missed - vala's light says nothing about healing yourself but arcane vitality says something about healing yourself. does vala's light actually heal yourself when you solo? or is it just arcane's vitality that heals yourself when no target is selected?

First of all, thank you Obfuscation and Puritas for answering - the more people answer, the more variety of opinions we get, which is awesome! I'm gonna also answer too, but please note that my opinions are purely that - my opinions. 1. Actually, my Grimoire can lay waste to a mob if I do everything right. It usually does take more planning than I utilize when playing, say, my Blade, but my Grimoire is a DPS machine when used right. Usually, I love to Teleport in, lay down my Sigils, then hide behind my shield or use Eldritch Blast (Skarn's Bane when you get it later on) to blow away all my foes. Yeah, don't bother trying to Teleport out - especially with the (relatively) recent update to Teleport. 2. If you have advantage points to spare, then R3 Eldritch Shield is definitely a good investment. You'll rarely need it (as R2 will work for most occasions), but since you don't do PVP, then it's worth grabbing. 3. Again, since you're not going PVP at all, then Dizzying Impact would probably be a good bet. However, my only word of caution is that you be careful to not knock your enemies out of your Sigils. 4. The thing with the advantage on Vala's Light is that you can actually heal for more overall health with R3 Vala's Light over Light Everlasting. However, if you aren't a micromanaging type, then Light Everlasting can help you keep a minimal but steady heal on your allies without you having to pay attention. However, as you're a support Archetype, I would counter by saying that you should be always paying attention to your teammates and their health. 5. I personally love playing my Grimoire. Again, he takes a little more strategy than some other Archetypes, but when used right, you can absolutely devastate anything that gets in your way. The only deal I had trouble with in the lower levels was The Destroyer's Factory, but then again, that instance is MEANT to be played by a team. EDIT: hmm... so from the above, it's even more tempting for me to create and play a grimoire. but for bossing, would you need a team or can you just solo everything? since sigils would only have around 900+ hp at R1, which bosses can easily 1 or 2 hit ko with their powers. all of the characters i've played can solo bosses pretty well. :X edit: just saw something which i missed - vala's light says nothing about healing yourself but arcane vitality says something about healing yourself. does vala's light actually heal yourself when you solo? or is it just arcane's vitality that heals yourself when no target is selected? Yeah, personally, with bosses, I was just fine if I set up and executed my attack without any problems. Because the Sigils are targetable pets and do so much damage, that combined with Eldritch Blast (at lower levels) and Skarn's Bane (in mid levels) will pretty much devastate anything. As for Vala's Light, yes, it does heal you. You have to make sure to target yourself (otherwise the power won't cast), but yeah, it makes for a nice self-heal. When I'm in the Circle of Arcane Power, I can keep myself alive indefinitely by spamming Vala's Light if necessary.

Sigils is going to be one of your main dps powers for the entire game, so there's no reason to not R3 it. Another reason for crippling challenge in pve is that you can taunt bosses off your sigils onto yourself extremely easily with it, and keep them around for the full duration.
Vala's light and arcane both automatically self-target if you have an enemy selected

Another reason for crippling challenge in pve is that you can taunt bosses off your sigils onto yourself extremely easily with it, and keep them around for the full duration. hmm... i've continued with my marksman but i've also been playing a grimoire on and off with my alt account. but the sigil cooldown times really put me off. the character concept is really, really cool (i watch tons of anime + play a lot of blazblue: CT/CS, and i created my grimoire to almost mirror the look of hazama, a magician... somewhat... go google him :X) but the cooldown time just spoils everything possible. it's annoying especially on escort missions where you have to have your sigils cooldown before that guy reaches that point where he/she'll be attacked, it's crazily difficult at lvl 10+. The only skill that can properly do damage using a grimoire is the sigils and nothing else but the sigils. it's even more annoying when bossing, whereby you throw your sigils down, then the boss kills your sigils/your sigils expire, then the boss comes after you and within seconds, you are dead since you don't have heal earlier in the game. yes, i'm talking about kevin poe. 30 seconds (imo) is too long a cooldown time, and for your intelligence to actually bring the CD time down by 10 seconds, you need about 200. which all in all equates to you having to be about lvl 30+ (late 20s) in order to properly use your sigils without having to wait and wait and wait. Any tips on this? edit: Just to add this in: should i go for mystic transference to lower the CD time? at least until i get to about -10s CD time with intelligence?

Unless I'm remembering incorrectly ranking up the sigils also reduces the cooldown timer on them in addition to the reduction from Super Int.

If you could, check the tooltip when ranking them up. That's where I remember seeing the difference as when I first picked up the Storm Sigils it was my primary reason for ranking them up. Granted, that was over a year ago and I haven't checked since. Edit: By tooltip I mean the notes on the advantages screen when you purchase a power, not the actual tooltips that show when you highlight a power with the mouse on the power bar.
