Alright, they posted compensation for PSN users. First off, everyone who's a member of PSN is getting a free month of PSN+ (if you're not a plus user, it's plus for a month, if you are, then you get one free month wedged in before your next payment.) For those who don't know what PSN Plus is, it's basically a pay service sort of like Xbox Live, but it gets you discounts on stuff in the PSN store, some stuff's free as long as you're a plus member, and you have manual cloud storage - you upload game saves on one PS3, you can download them to another PS3 and so on (though they limit you to downloading that specific file once every 24 hours or so, I think.) The other thing, from the sound of it, is a "selection" of free Playstation stuff from the PSN store. Whether or not this is different stuff from the Plus "freebies" or not, I have no idea. Personally, I'm hoping they just say one free download game from maybe two or three of their cheaper full PS3 games (you know, stuff like Assassin's Creed 1 or Infamous 1.) You can see the post on their official blog here.

Hmmm, interesting. I haven't turned my PS3 on for months except to watch a Blu-Ray here and there but it looks like I'll have to soon to change my password and such.

Forgot to put this in - the mandatory password update will be through either e-mail verification OR verification on the PS3 used to sign up for PSN. What this means is if you had the same password on your email as your PSN account, CHANGE YOUR EMAIL PASSWORD if you didn't already do that.
Also, as a side note, if anyone wants to add me as their PSN friend, feel free to do so once service gets restored. My handle on there should be INCREDIBLY HARD to figure out. Nope, totally NOT the same as here...
Edit: Also, same thing for Steam, Xbox Live... pretty much if it's a service, and you pop my name into it, it's me.

Alright, another post on the Playstation blog with the whole "response to Congressional subcomittee" thing. Geez, you'd think they would have better things to do, like working on their own economic issues...
Anyway, general gist of it is stating the same stuff they already said before, about the only new info I could dig up was the SOE servers that were additionally hacked had a random file uploaded named "Anonymous" with the contents "We are Legion" inside of it, so - BIG SHOCKER HERE! - Anonymous may have been either behind it, or at least inspired it in part, or may be just the scapegoat for someone who saw an opportunity to get rich quick.
Sony's saying there hasn't been any fraudulent reports on credit cards tied to this attack specifically, but who knows. They're still working on getting PSN back up sometime this week. I hope they get it up sooner rather than later so my brother and I can play Army of Two 2 and Portal 2 together.

May 31st is the estimated date for it going back online... Hnk... Maybe I'm just being hopeful, but I think they said that was the absolute latest it would be back up. I'm really hoping it comes up sometime late this week, but that's just me.

Could say that the 31st is the target for it fully work. Personally I am truly amused by how much free time of dcuo I'm getting. If it goes operational the 31st I'm looking at 71 free days.

30 days free and 1 day extra for every day the network is down. And a freakish Owlman helmet. Like greatest of joys and all that.

But I'd still have to buy the game, huh?
See, I just don't think DCUO is worth the money....

My email was broken into for the first time ever, and it was because my email and psn are exactly the same user and pass.
The hackers left a breadcrumb trail, though. I thought hackers were supposed to use proxies to cover up. We've got a break-in from a college campus network in San Antonio, TX, someone in China, and also some fruity website that does hosting, I guess in Tennessee.
