I'm back into the game after a two-year hiatus (for the third time, huehue), and I have a new quest: to create a perfectly balanced build that can deal a lot of damage without being squishy. I've been having mixed results with that. So, let me introduce my toons:
Maverick - Since Day 1 of Open Beta - As a ranged DPS, Maverick was made with the objective of being a ranged DPS, relying on force powers. Unfortunately, while able to do the job, his DPS isn't high, and his Force Cascade doesn't hit hard, only 10k DPS, and getting the job done also requires juggling self-healing a lot. I need to find ways to make him hit harder and/or be less squishy. Maverick can solo alerts, but very hardly.
Combat Medic - My greatest creation in this game. A 100% original healtank that can come back from any damage, including one-hit KOs, thanks to self-rez. The bad side? He has a 4-minute cooldown to his self-rez, so pulling a South Park's Kenny isn't a good idea. However, his 10k shields render him able even to withstand Cybermind's special attack without doing the color-buff thing. Not something I pull off often. Combat Medic is a full-fledged healtank, happily able to take anything on his back. I used to have him armed with a healing debuff, a shadow ball that reduced healing in 50%, but that disappeared and when I went to do his retcon I couldn't find it anywhere, so I had to change it to an aggro wipe that makes his life even easier. With shields, AoE rez, self-rez, AoE burst + HoT, Combat Medic is your to-go first line healer for anything, and due to his powers he's invincible in PVE content, even event bosses. His only weakness? He only deals 1.5k damage per second. Combat Medic can solo alerts too, perhaps even easier than Maverick, but it would take some load of time.
Wallachia - My currently-failing attempt to go Melee Damage. I wanted a super-brawler, but I failed to make a cool build, so I was armed with Arona's Bonecrusher's build, something that made him extremely resilient but his damage wasn't big. A formidable build for pvp, but lacked strenght and got me stuck in endless fights. His weakness wasn't only the lack of damage, his haymaker only hit for 6k on max buffs and critted for 9k, but also the fact that Walla had no multi-target attacks, added to the fact that he got nothing on high-dodging rate toons. I'm tweaking his build to be Dexterity-based, which is making him incompatible with might powers, even if I'm trying to give him high damage. So far no success. Arona's build is fantastic, but I want my toons to have builds made by me. Arona's Bonebreaker build made Wallachia able to solo alerts easily, but the damage isn't too high.
