Hello all, I'm planning to purchase The Invincible but I heard it not worth it is it true? While I was searching and I found this page which was helpful but I'm still not 100% convinced: champions-online.proboards.com/thread/2305Of course I want to purchase a Free Form slot, but it will take months of savings and I didn't enjoy all the available Archetypes, so either I quit until I get the Free Form Slot or play with a fun Archetype. The reason why I want the Invincible is simple: A ranged tank with self heal + Iron Man is my favorite Super Hero Also, what's wrong with "The Master" Archetype??? it used to be great and almost impossible to die, now I can't solo bosses

The Freeform Slot drops to half price at certain times. I had bought 1 around Christmas last year for US$25.00. I suggest waiting to see if a similar sale will happen this year. If that happens, the value of this Freeform Slot vastly outweighs it's $25.00 price tag. I'm speaking from experience as I've since purchased a Lifetime Subscription, but that 1st Freeform Slot remains my best character, and everything else was just for silly themed builds. The Invincible has major energy issues. The fault lies not with the AT, but with the Power Armour powerset. It has a paradox; its edge is that it can use multiple attack powers at the same time, but it never has enough energy to sustain them. Maybe as a Tank at level 40, that issue is mitigated if you grab aggro well and are taking attacks that generate energy. If you have a cool concept/costume/theme and you love the character, you can tough it until you reach that stage. Otherwise, I found it kinda dull as it feels slow and sluggish due to those energy issues. Ironically, if I were to make a Power Armour character at all, even though I have access to Freeforms now, I'd probably still go with the Invincible AT as IMHO it's pretty well put together for what it's designed to do. Here's a link to a friend's commentary on this: co-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?p=4216891Talking to him, his summary was that the Invincible AT is a good Tank + Debuffer combination, you should do both to really justify its value. I have no idea what happened to the Master, sorry. This is surprising to me. --- Based on the current meta, if I was to start again in CO, this would be all I'd buy: 1. Freeform Slot at half price, US$25.00 2. A hideout when it goes on sale, so useful 3. Nothing else, my other slots would be free ATs

Follow the link to see the Tammy Waffles The Invincible Guide. Hope that helps. P.S. - Total aside, I'm not found of it for the same reason the Behemoth on the far end of my favs right now: It's a long, slow, leveling slug fest. That said I love the POUND-POUND sound effect when your weapons connect. Just might be worth the price of admission. Notice I said Might (and it works as a in game pun). Nothing beats Freeform, so if you can afford it...

I'm sure it will help me because sooner or later I will purchase The Invincible - from what not1stepbackwards said I noticed that even if I made a Freeform based on Power Armor it will be too close to The Invisible so in other word a wasted 5000 or 2500 Zen -

I'm sure it will help me because sooner or later I will purchase The Invincible - from what not1stepbackwards said I noticed that even if I made a Freeform based on Power Armor it will be too close to The Invisible so in other word a wasted 5000 or 2500 Zen - Here's an example as to why a Freeform is still better than any Archtype. I love The Tempest, but I still love Kenpo's Storm Bringer build ( used it for Shaz-bot ) over The Tempest mainly because it's much studier, rarely falls down even in my clumsy hands and does even more DPS so battles end sooner. It is currently my single, most favorite, hero. That said, if you are one of those players who can make, or learn to make, any hero work and like the idea of The Invincible, then you should certainly go for it. Personally, I currently have 4 heroes that are Tempests so buying that Arch was defiantly worth my money. Maybe the invincible will be the same kind of Arch for you.

Just chipping in but Kenpo's Arsenal Gear Power Armour build is a great Freeform Power Armour build that IMHO beats the Invincible AT tenfold. That said, building freeform a Power Armour build from scratch is 'interesting' as the fairly unique energy return triggers the powerset has does mean that (as long as you are following them) you will end up following a fairly narrow path. Odds are indeed that it will look very similar to the Invincible.
My thoughts: How important is a Power Armour toon to you? Are you looking at a 'main character' concept? If so then look at Kenpo's build and videos on youtube. If that build fits then straight out use it, if not then look at his freeform build directory for similar Power Armour builds that would fit better. Freeform will likely suit you better but you'll want to take care getting the build right, time you'll spend on a main or well loved toon. [http://champions-online.proboards.com/thread/564/freeform-builds-directory] If you are looking for a character that's a nice little distraction into Power Armour than you'll enjoy levelling then maybe run a nemcon of too then then buying the AT should suit you better.
If you are just wanting a Power Armour 'style' toon then you can always try a power armour look with another powerset. The behemoth makes a get choices for a 'hulkbuster' suit, tempest can make a good electric attack robot.
Hope that helps.

This matters if you are not a Gold subscriber. Here's why. Almost exactly 1 year ago, I was in the exact same situation, waiting for my 1st Freeform Slot as I (accurately) predicted a Christmas Freeform Sale. I wanted to make a mecha character, you can see the final result just below, with ARNIE, now my main. Having toyed with that Freeform Slot, experimented a lot of different powers, it turns out I found much better options. For example, I went with a 2 Gun Mojo build, which is more interesting and powerful than even the Power Armour set as I combined it with those gun arm costumes piece. So, I myself would go about this question one of 2 ways, with my new experiences: 1.) If I really liked the Power Armour powerset's look & feel, those should cannons and eye beams, I'd go with an Invincible AT. It's so close to how I'd use it, as a Tank just because I need some energy returns from defending, plus it gets the AT damage bonus that Freeforms don't get (which isn't much, but just enough to justify playing Power Armour). 2.) If I just wanted a Iron Man or Steel themed toon...I'd actually use a Freeform Slot and NOT use the Power Armour powerset, going with Lightning Arc and Hurricane, because I NOW know there's actually Advantages that you can rank up and costume pieces to make a Tesla-style suit that is both more interesting and powerful that actual Power Armour powers, strange as it may sound.
