LinkypoosDoes the return mechanic on the boomerang tosses and it bouncing between enemies mean they have sorted out the 'needs new techâ„¢' issue that was holding up the development of a shield powerset?. If so I'm cautiously elated (and hope they have new animations over rehash), I can't wait to try out the new Night Avenger AT powers!.

I saw this when I woke up today and I laughed, because I was happy and it was funny. This Batman AT (in the same way as the Unleashed is a Jedi AT) does appeal to me, as it probably does to everyone else. After avoiding clones or even homages, respecting both the letter and the spirit of Cryptic's "No IP Infringement" policy, this is like them saying, " you know what, we give up, if we can't beat'em join 'em." That's just hilarious. IP issues have always been a thing, this is going to be totally out of control. Whereas the common trope of the Behemoth gave rise to many clones of Superman, Hulk, the Thing, Colossus, Goku, and so on, at least they were cloning different guys. This Batman AT, is going to be just Batman...maybe a few Batgirls (no one wants to be Robin, right). There is a little bit of life imitating art here. There was a comic book series recently where Batman, understanding he's only 1 man, basically franchised himself and created Batman Incorporated (I did not make this up). There's many variations of Batman, trained by Batman himself, running around behing Batman, doing Batman things. That's exactly going to happen here. It may be a concern, but that's just funny to me. I was going to make my "homage" to Batman today, with Unleashed using the Resistance Nightsticks, based on how Robin actually took up his mantle when he disappeared and fought with Escrima batons. I was going to be ironic and call him "Knight Owl". I'm holding that off now with this Batman AT in mind. And the best part is this...I'm not even going to customise my Batman AT character. I'm going with the default costume and naming him "Nighthawk", just like their sample: Everybody! Hop on the bandwagon! Join Nighthawk Incorporated!

(no one wants to be Robin, right). The Boy Wonder slinks of to his bedroom, alone, to sob quietly onto his pillow.

True dat...Damien Wayne the current Robin would kill his dad and take over as Batman if he thought he could get away with it . He's already screwed his adopted bros outta millions, the guys a legend and the first truly awesome Robin

While focusing on the gadgets would definitely leads us to the cape crusader, claws are definitely a more lethal way than Batman commonly would use. Nighthawk is not more Batman than CoH's Manticore is.
That being said, yep we're going to get an influx of bat clones but that it is unavoidable given the proximity and huge publicity of the last Batman movie.

I believe that this Nightawk is long established character from Champions IP, not a Batman clone "on purpose". Though it is very "batmanish" concept and very close to the upcoming movie.
PS - Batman himself is Zorro's ripp-off.
I not really care about new shiny AT. I'm still LOLing so hard because first flying vehicles will be probably released in quite proximity to the beta of World of Warplanes.
There is certainly a kind of pattern in Cryptic additions to the game. ;D

Nighthawk was originally based on not Batman, but the entire shady detective vigilante type of heroes of which Batman is the most famous, but there are several others of the same category.

He's already screwed his adopted bros outta millions, the guys a legend and the first truly awesome Robin I've got to disagree, here. The BEST Robin is the Robin who left to become his own Super-hero. IOW - The original that stopped side-kicking and became Nightwing. In many respects Dick Grason is a better Superhero because he works well with other. Someday he will permanently replace Batman and that guy will be the BEST Batman EVER! That said, it is just MHO, because I have not read a Batman comic since about 1993 or 94, so I only know what my friend, the comic reviewer, tells me about the state of Batman comics today. Funny, he has never mentioned Damien Wayne. I'll have to tease him about that next time we talk. btw - If you enjoy scarey-a$$ Robins, how about the one that turned out to be the Joker. In the Batman Beyond movie Return of the Joker, it's Tim Drake. In The Dark Knight Strikes Again it was Dick Grayson, so...

Thanks for the heads up about Nighthawk being an established character.
I just realised that he's the guy on the loading screen, standing on the building on the left. Hiding so obviously in plain sight...I actually respect that, that's pretty cool.
Update: so I went ahead and looked up Nighthawk in the CO-wiki. Just found that he's dating Julie Morgan, the reporter who gives you the missions in Westside.

One of the better Bat story archs. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman_%26_SonActually, the Damian story sounds like one of the reasons I left comics behind back in the 90s. I was not fond of the direction so many heroes were taking. My personal fav Batman (these days) is the one that evolved from Batman: The Animate Series. He continued on through his evolution via Superman: TAS, JLA and JLU. Kevin Conroy is he best Batman - IMHO and Mark Hamil is the best Joker EVER! And that's a FACT, not my humble opinion, but a FACT. <---- regard the winkie that indicates my exaggerated personal belief is in fact, not a fact, but a strongly held personal belief. Still, I strongly believe that anyone who disagrees on this point is a stinky, old, doodie-head. btw - Have you ever read - The Dark Knight Returns or Gotham by Gaslight? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman:_The_Dark_Knight_Returnsen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gotham_by_Gaslight

i allready moved over to GW2, but shall i play CO again (im not thinking about deinstall it, i feel affection for my toons) i would like to try this AT, but mostly to give The Soldier characters a taste of their own medicine (stealth)
looks kinda like a complete version of the unleashed (the missing lunge) but with no healing, more defensive gameplay with the sneak and better range powers, AND the one thing that would have make The Invincible a much more viable pvp AT; NttG
