(Wow, this one's "ancient"! I'd totally forgotten I'd done this one!)
Springtime for Lemuria!
(Cue Mel Brooks "The Producers" soundtrack)
CHORUS: Lemuria was having trouble What a sad, sad story Needed a new leader to restore Its former glory Where, oh, where was he? Where could that man be? We looked around and then we found The man for you and me LEAD TENOR PRIMORDIAL: And now it's... Springtime for Arvad and Lemuria... The dome is happy and gay! We're marching to a faster pace Look out, here comes the master race! Springtime for Arvad and Lemuria The big dome's a fine dome once more! Springtime for Arvad and Lemuria Watch out, World We're going on tour! Springtime for Arvad and Lemuria... CHORUS: Look, it's springtime LEAD TENOR PRIMORDIAL: Winter for Arcadia and UNTIL CHORUS AND PRIMORDIAL: Springtime for Arvad and Lemuria! CHORUS: Springtime! Springtime! Springtime! Springtime! Some say... ...that his ears aren't -exactly- where you'd expect them to be, and that he thought Star Wars was a documentary... ...that he isn't machine washable, and that all his potted plants are called "Steve"... ...that his face is digitally projected, and that he sleeps inside out... ...that his breath smells of magnesium, and that he's afraid of bells... ...that his teeth glow in the dark, and that his refrigerator contains nothing but used motor oil... ...that his politics are terrifying, and that he once punched a horse to the ground... ...all we know is, he's called The Stig!

From a thread called "Great Superhero Quotes" I posted the following:
"This morning on planet Earth, there are 1,686 enhanced, gifted, or otherwise superpowered persons. 678 use their powers to fight crime, while 441 use their powers to commit them. 44 are currently confined in Special Containment Facilities for enhanced criminals. Of these last, it is interesting to note that an unusually high proportion have IQs of 300 or more -- eighteen to be exact. Including me. You really have to wonder why we all end up in jail."

From a thread a few months ago discussing the Avengers Trailer #3 (before the movie came out) Someone asked if Captain America was worth seeing. Pretty much the RESOUNDING THUNDEROUS reply back was "YES! GO FORTH AND VIEW!" ;D And I chimed in as well: Indeed. Let me put in a good word for Captain America: The First Avenger as well. It was AWESOMELY well done. And Chris Evans knocked it out of the park! He IS Steve Rogers and makes you believe it!
To quote some AICN: "He is a simple, humble man that knows weakness, is in awe of his own abilities, humbled by his power, caring for his fellow man and loving the country that gave him everything he loves about life. This is Steve Rogers. They didn’t wise ass him up. They didn’t sexualize him. They didn’t make him hip. They made him exactly the way he is supposed to be."
And as for the costume and his shield - allow me a bit of comic detail geekery here - you may have seen his "combat uniform/costume" that's been made more "logical and realistic" (with combat pouches/straps and a close-fitting helmet that does NOT have actual wings on the sides, but does have them painted on as an emblem. That's the main part of the film, yes. But there's also a wonderful homage to the ACTUAL costume as part of the USO show he does before he manages to finagle his way into real combat. WIth "silly" wing-head and all! Not only that, but before he uses the vibranium round shield we're all familiar with, he uses the ORIGINAL Kirby Buckler shield from the 1940s comics! A grand slam triple geek play by the film-makers! Bravo!
(Interestingly, in the Avengers trailer, his modern costume is more "superhero" like and less bulky than his WWII costume. It may in fact be closer to the "Ultimate" version of the character in that regard.)
One last thing - The Director for the film is Joe Johnston. If the name seems vaguely familiar to you, it should. He was also responsible for the glorious 1991 film version of The Rocketeer. The two films are similar in tone. Perfect Golden age superheroics.
Trust me - you really should have seen Captain America in the theaters. It was worth every penny of an evening showing. Do yourself a favor and see it on DVD/Blu-Ray on as big a screen and sound system as you can.
